  • Gabe is autistic and nonspeaking! We traveled to Asheville, NC over spring break and experienced a lot of firsts! One of our favorite things we did on a rainy day was go to the Asheville Gem Mine! We learned about the different types of gems and collected a bunch! It was such a fun activity!

      ya autistic people aren't allowed to smile is why! But that doesn't mean that they can't but not frequently like most guys his age, though!

    I work a retail job on the weekend. A customer provocatively mentioned that her 3 year old has autism. I then responded with how much I am have learned about autism from youtube channels, especially yours about non verbal autism. The customer then went on to say that her child is also non verbal.
    It was such a humbling moment, knowing how the journey for each child is an unknown. I thanked her for being there for her son and she thanked me for thanking her! oh my gosh, I was near tears.
    I know there are people who struggle, or who don't even want to try and understand an experience from a view point other than theirs.
    This channel has opened my eyes to a side of parenting that I had no clue about, and I so blessed that I have the opportunity to grow and learn and be a better person.

    Thank you for your channel! We are a two mom family with a 6.5 year old autistic son with apraxia, so I really feel like your channel is a crystal ball into our future. I see a lot of similarities with our sons!

    Absolutely Amazing. I have totally enjoyed Gabes growth. Following his journey has been amazing. I absolutely love how the whole family has grown.
    I myself am on the spectrum.. but have also worked with many .. family and child alike. Gabes growth has been incredible, but I have only one issue.. Gabe wants so badly to start talking.. I can help with that.. but is only held back by a family that believes he will never talk.. therefore he sees no point. I have worked with these families for many years and have successfully help 2 teenagers to become verbal. You may think only 2? But helping non verbal autistic boys to verbalise at all is a miracle.
    I do believe though that Gabe is ready and I promise that we can succeed together.

    Looks like fun. Gabe looked mildly interested. I bet if he did it a few times ,he would get into it. New things take time.

    I just saw your channel and I want to thank you for all you do in showing that autism doesn’t make them different at all. I have a best friend that has it and we’re closer than ever. I know Gabe has more potential than any of us

    Gabe is such a super star for trying out so much stuff, staying with you, travelling in the car, sitting in noisy busy places, every time I see a video it give me hope that I will eventually find something outside the house that my son will enjoy 🥰

    for the past few months I have been unemployed struggling with different mental things. that’s not the point though. i recently got back into watching sbsk and learning about amazing people like Gabe and others have made me realize I want to work specifically with nonverbal teens. I have felt lost and like a failure for a long time not knowing where I was going in life and I haven’t told my family yet but thank you for sharing more insight into your lives with Gabe and thank you for giving me the goal I needed to continue living❤️

    I get that maybe you're trying to stop the stigma about autism. But I can't help but think how much you're exploiting your son who can't say he is or isn't okay with this. I mean you obviously know him more but this is exploitation.

    • @Jake07NL
      @Jake07NL Год назад +3

      @@michaelvitale7041 filming some videos of his experiences is “exploiting him”?? it’s not like they are shoving the camera in his face in every moment of his life, forcing him to be recorded (like many family vlog channels do). I really don’t think he minds being recorded.. but it this is what you call “exploitation”, then okay.

    • @michaelvitale7041
      @michaelvitale7041 Год назад

      @@Jake07NL one can be recorded without having to make a youtube channel about it and make the titles all about their son's disorder. I recommend googling "exploitation of mentally handicapped children in youtube". Exploitation isn't so black and white. He can't speak or advocate for himself in regards to whether or not he even wants a youtube channel dedicated to him. If he could then that'd be a completely different story. But he has no say in the matter.
