    I am a couple years on mine in all kinds of situations, and terrain! Everything is solid, still no failures in my view there a fast hiker with tons of protection

    Totally understand your search!! I had tried "TONS" of hiking shoes, boots, etc... If your anything like me GTX boots make my feet overheat, sweat!! Once you get them wet inside they are never the same. I always take out my insoles every night to dry them out. I change my socks 2 and 3 times a day. Although certain darn tough socks last the day without changing. Soo many companies use GTX. I do like Gortex your the cooler months but been on the search for a quality breathable Mid hiking boot. Gonna try out these Hoka's. I like Oboz because they are tough and offer alot of stability but they don't make a breathable boot. I've tried merrels. Most of them leak even though they are GTX. Lowa zephyrs are a great boot too! They offer both GTX and non GTX. Under armour makes a great mid boot too. Especially the Valsetz. Keen boots are nice too but heavy and they don't offer many breathable boots. Maybe these Anacapas are the answer??!!.. Good review man!!! Thanks! Hike on!!

    Nice review. I am able to recommend the Salewa Mountain Trainer Lite as a suitable replacement. They do make a mid.

      Do they have a gtx membrane? My budget has gone way over the top on footwear this year🤣

      They have a number that have GTX or another waterproof membrane (PTX). I do not have a waterproof version of Mountain Trainer shoe, but can attest to the quality and durability.@@KaneDoesOutdoors

      I came here to recommend the salewa as well, although I use them strictly for late season and winter (I use the gtx)

    Hi! I also had an ankle injury recently and looking for trail runner style shoes with ankle support since I’m not as confident wearing a low top on rough terrain anymore, would you say these shoes offer any ankle support or only the cushioning?

    • @KaneDoesOutdoors
      @KaneDoesOutdoors  8 месяцев назад +2

      If you’re on trail they should be ok. But I don’t feel super confident about them on really challenging terrain. There are some good suggestions in the comments, a lot of people recommend Salewa.

      Rehab that ankle! I did lots of step ups in “barefoot” shoes and walking on a treadmill increasing the angle over time. Helped a lot!

    NOPE. Use the Hoka Kaha for backpacking. I just did 100 miles on the wonderland trail. It was stable, durable, and soooo comfortable, even on some of the most sketchy and jagged terrain

    What model are the merrels?

      Altalight Knit Mid - an amazing shoe. Very precise & breathable. Unfortunately, they are discontinued, replaced with the MQM mid and only have a goretex version available.

    HOKA has never been known as a quality built shoe…they are innovative but definitely not built to last more than a year. I don’t know anyone, including reviews I’ve read online that got a full year out of Hoka’s, the sole either wears out or they fall apart within 4-8 months.

      I work in manufacturing. Have for last 21 yrs. On my feet 8-12 hrs every day. Concrete floors, nasty stuff. Hoka Clifton is only shoe I've ever had that lasted longer than 1 yr. They are looking rough. But still comfortable and help my back and knees alot!

    • @zfilmmaker
      @zfilmmaker 8 месяцев назад +2

      @@RockyTopSplash Ahh so you’re wearing them as a everyday work shoe and not running? Clifton is a trail running shoe with a sole designed for dirt… typically to soft for pavement. Shocking you have gotten so much wear on concrete but it sounds like you’re a light user so maybe that’s why. Glad they work for you!

      @@zfilmmaker the Clifton is not a trail running shoe. It is a road/gym shoe.

      There's certain words I have no idea how to pronounce even though my mother tongue is english. I'm originally from Quebec and we have a lot of influence from french, especially when it comes to vowels.
