Mission drives the gear. Or at least it should. . . I’ve had Salomon’s, Haix, Keen’s, and more. I’ve done backpacking, technical hiking, trail running, etc. The Anacopa is not the jack of all trades, it’s a heavy duty shoe, or rather a lightweight boot. It’s a step up from a trail running shoe, and a few levels below true backpacking boots. It’s not for technical hiking or long backpacking trips. It’s perfect for that mix of urban and occasional outdoor life. And maybe for the heavier folks who need some additional cushion. I think they’re overpriced for what they are, but they’re not bad shoe/lightweight boot.

If that's the lightest boot you've ever worn then you weren't lying about not wearing boots. And heading out on review trip with the creators of the boot doesn't exactly lend itself to authenticity, you know? But I get it. I tried them out on a couple of day hikes in variable conditions just out of curiosity. Though I might be missing something that they offer. A quick return and a HARD pass. So now when I see Hoka's I just think rookie going for the "new, shiny thing." Might not be true. But that's what I see. Big cushion? Soft? Nah. I want control and stability. Different strokes I guess.

I love my Hoka shoes, but I don't think they should call those mids "boots". They're just a high tops sneaker without any real ankle support or protection. I sincerely wish Hoka would design a real rugged backpacking boot.

Agree, they're not quite boots. Most certainly more of a hybrid 'mid'. Thanks for watching!
