      Lol yes!!! I love finding other OCD planners, some people just don’t understand 😁 Google is so amazing for planning, I color code my icons based on day and I don’t know if you noticed the color on the top of the itemerary, it matches the icon color of the day just to keep things organized 🤣
      When you go in July, make sure you download your map offline before you get in the park because the cell service is almost nonexistent. I know you are going to have a great trip because you are already planning for everything 😊

      @@scheduledadventures hmmm, colors based on day? Interesting. I'd have to switch mine too much (just stressed through Glacier Vehicle res day on 3/1 🤬). I color code by category (purple for restaurants, dk green for trailheads, etc).

    • @scheduledadventures
      @scheduledadventures  Год назад

      @@HikerDudeDad Oh! I hope you were able to get a reservation, they are really making visiting some of these National Parks stressful. We are going to Glacier too, it will be our first time and the vehicle reservations and figuring out what trails are usually open and closed is a lot to juggle. I actually start my maps out with the same color coding as you and then change them when I plan our days, if Google would give us a wider range of colors or numbered icons the organization possibilities could be endless 😊

    • @scheduledadventures
      @scheduledadventures  2 года назад +1

      We stayed in the Colter Bay Campground site 224-K, which is different from the RV Park, they are near each other but separate “campgrounds”, but we did drive through the RV park to check it out. It has a different layout from the campground, the RV park has more traditional aisles with pull through sites side by side, I’m not sure how level they are, but nothing stood out making me think I wouldn’t want to set up camp there. We did notice it seemed much more shaded in that area than the campground we stayed in which could be a good thing or a bad thing depending on your preference, and it’s also closer to the lake and the general store which is convenient. If you have anymore question feel free to ask and I will answer them the best that I can, I hope you have a great time on your trip!

      Thank you so much! We didn’t stay at the Colter Bay RV Park side we were at the regular Colter Bay campground which doesn’t have hookups but for me the sites are nicer at the campground, the Rv park seemed even less private than the regular campground with mostly center aisle pull throughs that are open to your neighbors on both sides. Our site number was K226 and I would definitely pick that site again. Campendium.com has some photos of both the campground and RV park and you can kind of see the difference.

      The grade is on Teton Pass Highway 22. Our friends drive it in their 5th wheel and a class C motorhome, but complain to us how steep it is, so we take Highway 26 to Alpine and then Highway 89 & 191. Google maps didn’t show it as an option so I had to put in directions to Hoback Wy in order for it to go around the pass. It’s a beautiful drive and only 10-20 minutes longer and we don’t have to worry about our breaks.

      I have learned that you don't need a strict schedule for the Tetons or Yellowstone, just having a basic outline of highlights you really want to see and doing them first and filling in the rest of the time with wildlife viewing and following the GuideAlong app's advice of where to go is enough of a plan. Also, one thing I would definitely change on our trip would be to take the boat at Jenny Lake both ways to Hidden Falls instead of hiking there, because by the time we got to the falls the 1st boat was already arriving at the dock, and by doing that we could have used our energy to hike further past Inspiration Point, but we had a great trip and had plenty of time to see everything we really wanted to see in those 2 1/2 days.

      We actually went at the end of September and I loved it so much during that time of year, the trees are changing colors and the animals are active getting ready to hibernate. The weather hasn’t been bad for us in September we did have a little snow on the side of the road in some places last year but we haven’t had it snow on us in September, some days it would be so cold in the mornings my bottle of water would freeze in the car while we stopped and looked around at different spots but by afternoon I would be in a tee shirt, so we wore layers and I kept my gloves and hats in the car in case I needed them some mornings, but as someone who is always cold it really wasn’t that bad.

      If you are planning a trip yourself, I know you can buy bear spray in West Yellowstone and it was the same price we paid for it in California. Heading to Grand Tetons and YNP next week!! I’ve been watching your videos daily for inspiration and itinerary being the over planner lol. Btw would you be willing to share your printed out itinerary shown at beginning of your videos?

    • @scheduledadventures
      @scheduledadventures  2 года назад

      How exciting!!! We will actually be going again next week too and I love hearing that there are other over planners out there like me, and since we are over planners this reply will be extra long :) Sorry I didn't get all the videos done in time for your trip planning, it is taking me so long to edit them. I actually deleted the Yellowstone itineraries, but I still have the Teton and can share a link to them so you can get an idea of how I made it and probably improve on it. We really didn't use the itineraries that much for Yellowstone & Teton, just a general guide of things that I knew i wanted to see in the areas but we mostly let the Gypsy Guide App direct us. (I still had fun making the itineraries anyway) My best tips I think would be these: 1. Download google maps offline just so you have a map since cell service is practically non existent, same with Gypsy Guide App if you use it, download it before you go to the park and then it will work throughout the park. 2. If you are really interested in seeing wildlife have the passengers keep their eyes peeled, we spotted coyotes and a grizzly bear just while driving and another grizzly in the Mammoth Springs parking lot, some of its luck and also having good eyes, but also stop when you see people on the side of the road with huge professional cameras and scopes, even if it's not one of the special animals you had your heart set on seeing talk to them about the animals and park and they will more than likely share all sorts of fun information about the animals and will tell you where they last saw whatever it is you are looking for. 3. Old Faithful. Of Course Old Faithful is a must see, but because it is so faithful I would suggest looking at eruption times on the Yellowstone National Park App for Grand Geyser, Castle Geyser, or Daisy Geyser and prioritize one of those and then you can go back to Old Faithful and watch it before you leave that area, I personally like Grand Geyser more than Old Faithful. I hope you have a great trip! docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1JASpubVL2ittPKuxzUIe9-KS6jZi_o_WCqWM2HakN_8/edit#gid=0

      @scheduledadventures how do you find the best sunrises and sunsets? Any ideas we are going here and Yellowstone

    • @scheduledadventures
      @scheduledadventures  8 месяцев назад

      So the Tetons are interesting because sunrise and sunset locations are pretty much the same because the mountains are the pretty focal point for both, the one exception is Mormon Row which is better for sunrise. So the places we like for both sunrise and sunset are Oxbow Bend, Schwabacher Landing, and Snake River Overlook.
      We had a harder time with sunrises and sunsets in Yellowstone just because we were limited on time so we had to get right into our days. Artist Point is one of the most popular sunrise spots but I bet sunset would be good too, We have seen really pretty sunrises at West Thumb Basin with the turquoise pools and the lake in the background. We don’t catch too many sunsets but I would think most of the geysers basins like Old Faithful would be a good location.
      Not sunrise or sunset related but the Grand Prismatic overlook is best in the mid afternoon on a clear day, when the sun is directly overhead it brings more of the colors of the pool out.

    Never haven’t driven in this area before, my map told me to take the 31 out of Swan Valley.
    34 ft 5th wheel. Those were some of the steepest grades I have ever driven. ( up and down) No for the weak hearted !!!😀😀
    Will take the 26 down and around next time.

      Yes the gps maps don’t usually give the option of taking the 26 for some reason but we were warned by friends not to drive the Pass and going through Alpine was so pretty and a great build up to the Tetons.

    What month did you visit?

      We went at the very end of September. We have gone twice now in September and love it because of the beautiful fall colors, the wildlife is active, there is less smoke from the summer wildfires, the weather has been pleasant, and it’s a little less crowded. I hope that helps if you are trying to plan when to visit the Grand Teton National Park.

      Yes! The poor locals, by the end of the week we are even saying “We aren’t stopping for another deer, bison or elk we have seen plenty of them now.”

    Of course the views are tremendous. This is amazing that it was created. Are there any sounds along these trails? Birds? Little critters scurrying under brush? A boat cruising by? The sounds of other hikers huffing and puffing? Sometimes very funny comments they say with a chuckle? I've met wonderful people during hikes.
    I would love to hear the mountain. Why the dorky music that has NOTHING to do with outdoors?
    I find downloaded music screaming..".the best is yet to come...woo woo.....ready or not ready or not," over and over ....to be terribly intrusive. The descriptive comments, however are nicely done. And I do have a mute button on this computer along with closed caption.

      Thank you for your constructive criticism. I actually use the music for two reasons, while I would love to use the audio of the sounds around us, the ambience of birds, water, trees and the people hiking, unfortunately you need special equipment for that, and the camera and iPhone I use to record our trips picks up the slightest breeze, making the audio hiss and crack very loudly and therefore unusable, so the music fills in the dead air. The second reason is more of a personal preference, but the way my brain works the best is with music. I constantly “play” songs in my head that relate to what I am seeing and feeling, and I also find years later music will trigger certain emotions and memories, taking me back in time to a place I have been. When a song comes on without ever talking about it I can ask my kids what does this song remind you of and they will answer with a vacation we took 15-20 years ago.
      I do have new microphones now that removes the sound of the wind, but I don’t think they can pick up the atmospheric sounds, but if I do ever pick up good sound I will use it to balance the videos use of natural sounds and music, hopefully that will bridge the gap for both types of viewers.

    What would make your hikes a lot easier is if both of you lost some weight...20-50 lbs, for starters for the ladies. Great video, though!

      Lol thanks????? If I lost 20-50 lbs I wouldn’t be able to hike at all because I’m 5’10 and would weight under 100lbs 🤣

      Thank you, I can be pretty funny sometimes, but I don’t think any of us were wearing makeup hiking or otherwise, heck we did even take showers.
