    Drove from Seattle to Yellowstone then Grand Teton; 9-day trip; overnighted in Gardiner, West Yellowstone, and Jackson Hole - could have invested 3 weeks!
    End of May into 2nd week of June 2023. It was beyond beautiful!
    Thank you, Dan, for posting your video and your commentary!
    Very informative, and brought back very good memories! You added a number of places to hit next time we go! It was great! Got rain, snow and clear sunny skies.
    People after us this June had a few roads closed by snow.
    Thank you, Dan!

    Great overview of an amazing park.
    I drove from San Diego to Yellowstone last September and got shut out by wildfire smoke on my northbound leg. But for my return trip a week later, an overnight storm cleared the skies and the Tetons were glorious.

    Excellent video. I spent June and July 2017 in Teton fly fishing. I was staying in Wilson, about a mile past the ski resort, so every day I would drive into the park to fish the Snake River coming out of the Jackson Lake dam, and it was fascinating just how the light could change the views. The best restaurant in the park was at Signal Mountain Lodge. I did have lunch one day on the veranda at Jackson Lake Lodge, talk about a million-dollar view. I chuckled when you were talking about the cost of accommodations because in 2017 I was able to rent a condo for $65/night. A couple of years before I had done a Princess cruise tour to the interior of Alaska (Denali NP), and while beautiful, I thought Jackson, Teton, and Yellowstone were not only a better value but visually more compelling due to the close proximity of everything.

    Speaking of accommodations in the park: Colter Bay was omitted, only mentioned as a campground. The cabins are the best bargain in the park!

    I prefer to watch Grizzlies about 2 feet away ... from my laptop monitor hahaha. When I visited Yellowstone and Grand Teton in 2015, I saw almost every animals shown in this videos except bear and beaver. However, I did see otter, wolf pack, big horn sheep and mountain goat :). Truly amazing place.

    Great video. I concur with your observation about wildfire smoke impacting views of the mountains. As a general rule, our family avoids going to national parks in the west from late July to early September. The likelihood of wildfire smoke in the western national parks is - unfortunately - very high.

      Teton, Jackson, and Yellowstone are quite literally the easiest national park to visit. The Jackson Hole airport, which is in the park, has service from Denver and Chicago (as well as other cities). As the video mentioned, park accommodations sell out a year in advance. I would recommend staying at Signal Mountain Lodge as it's central to everything in Teton and only 45 minutes away from the entrance to Yellowstone. While Yellowstone has the bigger named attractions, Tetoon is better for hiking and gets only a fraction of the visitors that Yellowstone gets. If you're into camping, the Coulter Bay campsite area is amazing and has the most amazing (small) grocery and camp store. The pictures in the video are really as amazing as they look.

    There is also a small regional airport in Cody, WY that's accessible to the Tetons as long as the East Entrance is open.

      Wow what a great experience that must have been--I bet you saw your fair share of moose in the campground! I have yet to stay at Lizard Creek, how does it compare to the other campgrounds?

    • @dennisdickson2892
      @dennisdickson2892 Год назад

      @@DanTreks Gros Ventre is our favorite campground. In spring of 2021 we had 19 mother moose and their yearlings at the campground when we arrived. They spend the winter there. They depart for the forest in June and the males return in August for the mating season. Lizard Creek has 60 camp sites, half tent only the rest are for small rv's or trailers. We prefer a smaller campground with one other couple. The larger campgrounds end up having too much drama with 12+ employees. We've worked at Jenny lake too. It's nice because it's tents only. It only has one couple there, which is hard even at a small campground. They have 51 sites.

    • @DanTreks

      @@dennisdickson2892 Sounds like even the parks and their campgrounds aren't immune to workplace drama unfortunately! I hope you and your wife have a great season in the Tetons this year--I'm hoping to get back there myself this upcoming summer.
