Thx for the details video to repair for fixes. I had GE profile Range with thermal contact stuck closed but my heating element worked and after turned off, the led light will stayed lighted. Disconnecting the power did not reset but control switch kept it energized for the double burner. I removed the connections on terminal “P and S” for for few minutes and the thermal bimetallic contact was open mean switch was good. Connected the wires and indicating led light turned off. Tested after finished and the light indicator turn on when burner was turned on and gone off when turned off. You may want to update the video with this repair condition.

Mine says “cook top on, cook top hot” when turn off the burner. I did the test as the video indicated, switches didn’t beep, all burners beeped. 😢 looks like I’ll need replace all of them.

So, safe to say, if it’s turning on by itself- it’s the switch or switches?

      yes its probably the switch

@@DeaninItYourself I had dismantled it all & ended up reassembling it. If I rotate that dial fully clockwise; light goes out. If I just go to “right 1/2” & off”, it stays on. Haven’t noticed low heat on the connected burner, which I never use it; just leaving it. My meter seemed to read that it’s normal; but hard to tell. I rarely cook & one big burner is all need. (I’ll worry about it if it goes red hot & maybe just buy new).

Help! Just realized that I am not seeing things! When not in use, my GE PROFILE glass top stove shows a surface burner warm light slightly glowing…(like a faded flicker)-but LIT! *Turning ON by itself when dial was never touched. (Thought it was just a glare from an angle previously & not lit). Spice rack was back there & an empty pot; burner is WARM!
Not even using that burner- like ever. Fire hazard! I could only get the light off on stovetop (the warm indicator)-by turning dial all the way around to OFF. In a few minutes; it’s lit again & burner is warm! Have maybe used that burner 2/3x (top left single-burner, 2-3x since bought new 2007)- it’s the 2nd dial from left, over door. This is too much! Scary.
