thats some big bees . we have a bunch of small bees around where i live, they are mean as hell too. i would love to find a hive of these dudes swarming.
Do "Smoke Pots" (I think that's what you call them) work on yellow jackets(& other wasps too) like they do on honey bees? Also, I'm always going after "Black Widow" spiders. Just after dark is when they come out. Weapon of choice(use w/much care) can of WD40 aerosol and a Bic. Additional tool is a flash with red lense! From my amatuer use, they can't see in that spectrum(red) of light. So I have the advantage because I can see them w/out them seeing me. Wondering how this(just the latter idea, not the WD40 and BIC lighter trick, too many)might work with wasps?
HAA! That would be a sight to see. Back in the day a put a 1970 Malibu station wagon on it's roof while mud ridding in the power lines with five people in it. No alcohol and no seat belts and we all walked home. We used to do that kind of stuff a lot. Amazing we all survived.
Unfortunately there was no round two. As far as I know the tree is still standing in the same state as when we left. The property owner's son was supposed to have the long limb cut down to make it safe for us to complete the job and then call us to come finish but he never did anything with it. The property owner (the old man in the video) has since passed away so the bee problem is no longer a concern I guess. It's not far fro me. I should drive by there and take a look.

RaithSienar We can have about the same loss ratios but just for different reasons. Our bees stand a better chance of starving and dying from age and wear more so than northern bees since our bees fly most of the winter when there isn't much to forage on. Northern bees stay in the hive more and use up less food stores.
oh as the very top end home owner beast it's very good. I wish more 3/8 was available on the England side of the pond. as I'm fed up with 325 chain! anyway I'm always interested in the bees as apiary is a way of keeping the planet healthy. what tips can you offer to the first time want to get into bee keeping sort who isn't exactly used to sting pain please?
stuckintraffic?getabike! The more you get accustomed to handling the bees the less you'll crush them and the less you'll stir them up and make them mad. You'll probably get used to the stings pretty quick. They don't hurt that bad depending on your pain tolerance. I think the fear of the sting is much worse that the sting. Anywhere in the head hurts and finger and palm stings hurt. Not bad though. Get the best smoker you can find and wear a suit until you are comfortable without one.

628DirtRooster oh okay cool.
thats some big bees . we have a bunch of small bees around where i live, they are mean as hell too. i would love to find a hive of these dudes swarming.
Oily gas problems!! Too funny!
Oily gas sounds like a medical problem.
wow Rooster you are a man of many talents. You know how to DJ (record scratching ) 11:08 ;-)
Man I grew up on hip hop. lol
Thanks for sharing!
My pleasure Lewis.
Thanks for posting again! I love your videos (even though bees freak me out ;_;).
Everybody need a good freak out once in a while.
Bar oil in the gas tank that's funny, done it myself a couple of times.
Just proves I can't multi task. Trying to film and service equipment at the same time.
Where are you based in? I'm from Southern Ontario, winters here right now so we have no bees to speak of :)
South Mississippi
They recognize that there is smoke but it doesn't work the same on them.
628DirtRooster Figured that, otherwise you'd include. lol. What about the red lense light? Can wasps see in that Spectrum?, where Black Widows can't?
I HAVE stood a minivan on it's tail gate, but alcohol was involved... :-)
HAA! That would be a sight to see.
Back in the day a put a 1970 Malibu station wagon on it's roof while mud ridding in the power lines with five people in it. No alcohol and no seat belts and we all walked home. We used to do that kind of stuff a lot. Amazing we all survived.
I KNOW this is an oldie but goodie but I wanna see the rest of what happened when y’all went back for round 2.....
I can’t find it 😭
Unfortunately there was no round two.

10:24 simply beeautiful 🐝
Where's the finish on this tree? 🌲
I live in roughly the same area as you and I was wondering what your rough winter survival rate on your hives is?
Probably 50 to 80% completely dependent on how attentive I am.
628DirtRooster
Huh, I figured since we get such mild winters here in the Mississippii/Louisiana area that it would be a bit higher than that.
RaithSienar We can have about the same loss ratios but just for different reasons. Our bees stand a better chance of starving and dying from age and wear more so than northern bees since our bees fly most of the winter when there isn't much to forage on. Northern bees stay in the hive more and use up less food stores.
628DirtRooster
Ahhh that makes so much sense, thank you.
You licked the lens lmao funniest shit ever
Equipment maintenance.
How was your meal at McElroy's Harbor House?
Pops said they enjoyed it. He's been a few times. I haven't tried it out yet. You local?
nice video. what model of stihl chainsaw is that youre using?
I think it's a farm boss 290 but I can't remember. It belongs to my dad.
cool. an oldie but a very goodie.
stuckintraffic?getabike! It's been around a while.
oh as the very top end home owner beast it's very good.
Happy Halloween
Happy Halloween back at ya. Take it easy on the candy.
