GInger Spice (Gerri Halliwell) is married to Christian Horner, who was a racing driver, but is actually much more known as the formula 1 team principal of Red Bull racing, as he is one of the most successful team principals. So, Gerri has a lot of experience and knowledge of racing and the effects of it on the family dynamic, therefore I really loved that they casted her as the mom of Jann.
The movie was far better than I expected. I went in with mildly positive expectations. But when it showed him racing in the simulator and an imaginary car appeared around him, I thought it would be extremely corny and I got suckered into watching a bad film. But it really picked up. Great movie, I recommend it.

I think the goofiest thing that doesn't make sense unless you know both racing and Gran Turismo is the bit when his dad asks "Why don't you follow the line" and he replies about how "Everyone else follows the line, but if I go a different route, then I can pass them" To the uninitiated this just seems like "oh he's exploiting the ai in the game" but no, that's ACTUALLY something in racing, the Racing line is not monolithic, the optimal line you use in a qualifying run where you are by yourself is not the same one you use against somebody defending their position against you and sometimes that line you are taught on paper is not the perfect line.
I’ve watched this 5 time in theaters and every single time I saw the the audience was hooked including me despite knowing what was going to happen I cried and laughed and literally got up screaming/yelling when Jann placed.
I know one of the stunt drivers, (drove the Lamborghini) and he told me that all of the racing scenes (from the outside) were filmed with all the cars driving one behind the other (off the racing line) and they used cgi to shift them around.
I have been playing/racing Gran Turismo ever since it came out. I have sunk 1000’s of hours into each one. The parts where it switches from game to track and track to game is something that yes looked cool but unless you’ve mentally done it, doesn’t have the same feeling. I am glad they captured that the best way they could. The only thing I could compare that scene to would be to put Guitar Hero on the hardest difficulty, closing your eyes, and nailing every single note. You race these tracks so much that it becomes less about the visual queues and more about the audio queues from the engine. You can close your eyes and run an entire lap through your head and remember exactly where to downshift/upshift.

Plus I got to meet some super fun dudes who have traveled the world for this game, and one that was in a later gt academy as well. It’s all so surreal
Its actually not only one gamer more and more driver academies and racing team are recruiting sim racers it’s genuinely a way to get involved with the sport in a much cheaper way!
At 8:50 they never even implied that the accident where the spectator died happened because of glazed brakes in the movie. That was only in that initial training section and that is it. Don't go around gaslighting about it being some big disrespectful thing either.
