In this video I'm showing you how I created a looping animation in cartoony style using Blender. I recreated one of the beautiful landscapes from a mobile game called Alto's Odyssey which I really like, the visuals are astonishing you should check it out. play.google.com/store/apps/de...
This cartoon animation was made in EEVEE. I could finally use the Camera Data node especially the View Z Depth socket (View Distance also works), it was perfect for this project. It does the same thing as the Depth or the Mist pass in the Compositor but it's in the viewport and it's procedural so it's controllable in real time.
Other trick that I used is the sun glare on a plane which follows the sun.

Interesting fact: Torin Borrowdale who composed the music of this game, also produced the soundtrack for the Blender short film, Spring.

I love your work, it's something new, something fresh and your commentary is just amazing, such a calm yet clear voice! I can already see your channel exploding with hundreds of thousands of subscribers haha :D Do you think you could maybe go into more detail in these videos? I think people like me who maybe aren't so comfortable with Blender would greatly appreciate it. Regardless, great work, keep it up man, it's a pleasure to watch!

Thanks for the great tutorial! Everything went smoothly, except for the spherical gradient texture. For some reason when I tried to link it to the sun, it just didnt appear, had to leave it at generated, maybe its my 2.93 beta tricks or something...

Thanks for watching. Bring the sun closer to the plane, play with the scale of the gradient in the mapping node, apply the rotation and the scale of the plane and the sun as well. I hope this will help.
Edit: don't forget to switch back to object coordinates from generated ;)

@@levimagony I did it already, tweaked everything i could tweak, applied all transforms to both objects, its some sort of a bug i think, cause every other type of gradient there works like a charm and connects to sun with no problem. Thanks for responding! Gonna dig into your milk box stream anyway, thats the style I`d like to implement in my works, and you did a magnificent job with that one!

    • @levimagony

Yeah then probably a bug, you should try it out with 2.92.
Thank you, see you on Twitch:D

Had a similar issue. It was because the origin of my sun wasn't at the center of its geometry. Hope this helps. Thanks Levi for your nice tutorials.

Thanks. Transparent node mixed with a diffuse shader, olay with the factor. Blend mode is alpha blend.

Brother could you create a yt tutorial series for like making backgrounds. Like the ghibli not too hardcore ghibli in b/wn the ghibli and toon must be 3d stylized type. Like alive course animation superhero show but, how to make the environment thats behind it, means thats behind that type of toons/ghibli/spiderversetype im not getting exact name, like if our sceen is sleeping on bed so how to model that toon type bed and the room. How to model backgrounds of toons. If its in school location how to model it if its a toontype car bike how to do that props stuff.
