My problem with this game is the lack of combat and big battles. You spend your time leveling up your character only to discover that there aren't any groups of enemies in free roam to actually fight.
The game was easy enough before upgrades… literally, the upgrades are a waste. They promised full scale battles yet nothing is fun except for the memes and laughs you get from references. The game is beautifully made, aesthetically speaking. Yet, it feels “empty”. I’m sure you agree… awesome looking game, cool ideas, yet the game doesn’t have the same “magic” as the old ones. It’s a bit of nostalgia but I think that we deserved a game that was better than this.
my problem with this game is that theres no character creation, it makes me feel like its not worth of getting new characters and not be able to use their parts to create a unique one
@@SolidPain6624 yea I think they were going to but I think they needed a little more time, but since they had so many delays they had to release it in this state but honestly it’s still pretty good until you finish the story and unlock most of the characters

Sadly, I agree. 90% of the game just feels like you’re walking to the next cutscene. Puzzles and actual combat are few and far between, and when you do actually get gameplay, it’s usually short lived.

I think it's just a shame that they left out some levels from the original game like the space battle over coruscant, a proper battle of geonosis level or the space battle on the second death star. I guess this game just doesn't like large scale battles overall?

I’d trade the open world for the longer and better level design in a heart beat and that’s definitely not a hot take
Still on first play through here and I’m already tired of walking and walking and still walking through open worlds between levels. Unlike previous Lego games where free play with unlocked characters would unlock side areas (for
Mini kits etc) off of an otherwise linear path through a relatively long level, Lego Skywalker looks to be ‘mopping up icons’ a la a modern Assassin’s Creed. Looking at the open world map, I’m unlikely to be going for 100% this time.
I love the sheer size and design of the planets but I’d easily cut them all in half for more satisfying combat, roaming npc armies or groups, ACTUAL force lightning, flamethrowers and better jet packs, movie accurate blaster and saber sounds, some abilities not tied to combos or counters, and a little more pacing in the levels.
I would downsize it but not go all the way back to cantina status
It’s barely even open world too
No seamless travel, mostly empty planets etc
My biggest problem with this game is how lifeless it feels after the story, unlike other Lego games the collectibles feel rushed and most of the time your just doing basic platforming
I just wish the levels were more defined, the whole contuine story, contuine story, then start a level randomly. I love the open world element but the levels are so far apart in that open world it feels like the walk to the next level is longer than the level itself.
and finishing them 100% feels like a chore.
Yep, walk walk walk walk. Beautiful scenery. More walk.
Then again, you have to make some big decisions in game design if you can only have 5 levels per episodes, since some movies have way too many major events (such as Revenge of the Sith) and others don't have nearly enough.
Yeah but the first playthrough to go through the open world with some of the places having enemies is cool but I don’t know why they don’t do it more often I mean I guess I can kinda get it with bounty hunter it’s a broken stud farm but it would make the game more enjoyable.
I think the developers focused more the details of cutscenes, voice acting and graphics than the basic user experience.

It definitely felt like the levels were short and repetitive, and many key moments from the movies were not level playable. Also, considering that there are these giant vertical worlds, why was there no jet pack flight? And I did notice that you don't build as much in this one. Kinda takes the lego out of it. And I found most of the character upgrades to be pretty weak. It's not unenjoyable, I just wish they'd built on the previous games instead of going to this mostly open world with no real objectives after the levels are complete. I still enjoy The Complete Saga more. Shame, I was looking forward to this for 3 years
the lack of building rlly bummed me out. it’s like one of the core elements from the original games cmon
I actually just put mine up cause I got tired of glitches and the boring levels. The open world and attention to detail is phenomenal, but unfortunately they forgot to include a game in their star wars simulator.
I got to 100% and still wasn’t bored. I loved Lego Star Wars the clone wars but I thought it was really boring getting 100% on that game imo, where in this game I felt like I could keep going. That sucks you couldn’t enjoy it man, maybe the next Lego Star Wars will be for you.

The levels were so short and disappointing.. Most of the films story is continued out in the open world rather than in actual levels, most of the story levels to me felt like they were basicly just space battles or boss battles. Phantom menace for example level 1 was just fleeing from those big fish creatures, 2nd level was just the pod race, 3rd level was just a fight against darth maul, 4th fight was just the battle against the droid army which still somehow was incredibly short & the 5th level was just that space battle. Compare those to the all 5 levels we had of phantom menace in the complete saga game, these new ones just fail in comparison. Atleast on that game they had the levels play out as far as they could.
The complete had 6 levels per episode
@@whatafak7141 and why mention this exactly? It doesn't disprove my point about the level comparisons for the 2 games.
They weren't that short and they weren't disappointing. It taking place in the open world isn't really an issue though. I'm pretty sure it mostly wasn't space battles or boss battles. The 4th fight along with the other levels really weren't incredibly short. Sounds like it covered some stuff you didn't get to play through in the complete saga game then...so these ones don't fail in comparison. So did this game.
@@Jdudec367 I think it being an open world is a big problem, levels are no longer levels, but instead hubs you can explore and that's about it. No more clone assault against droids like in the complete Saga on kashyyyk
@@saber2802 I disagree, it being open world isn't really a problem. There still are levels at times. The explorable hubs aren't bad as there still is level like gameplay in them. True....but we got other stuff to make up for that like actually showing the Yoda vs Palpatine fight.
I probably in the small minority that was underwhelmed by the new game. I like some of the new stuff the Skywalker Saga does, but the rest feels underwhelming compared to the Complete Saga. Collecting studs and mini kits doesn’t feel as satisfying as it did in the old games. Also, collecting Kyber bricks feels more like tiresome busywork than it does a worthwhile task.
Definitely not alone
There's so many of us, but not enough to voice all the criticism. TT games will pat itself on the back for a job well done and bask in the great sales while they continue onward in the trend of exchanging fun for marketing.
@@ReubenVictoor But the game is fun and a great game only performance issues and bugs hinder it. DLC is kind of a let down though and the menu navigation is pretty terrible. I feel like some people are just nitpicking the aspects of the game that make it target children as the audience. Like the guy in the video complaining about the tutorials and long sequence in Episode 1 which I didn’t really mind lol. I actually like the long sequence in the beginning because it gives the game more charm. That’s not to say the Skywalker saga has its issues. I find it funny how the guy in the video is calling Skywalker saga boring when the old trilogies had no combos and no free aim and the combat was so bland lol. I think that TT Games does deserve all the praise especially in this horrible era of gaming.
@@Booster_Gold115 the guy in the video senses something is off but names all the wrong reasons among a few good ones..
The best reason he gave is how they failed to copy a feeling of accomplishment and satisfaction, in the sound design and animations after you complete a level.
The game overall has cool combat, but they missed many of the core gameplay aspects of the complete saga, the sense of wonder that children have is tossed aside.. any child can figure out which button does what after being thrown into a room, and finding it themselves is more satisfying than a spelled out tutorial. Rarely did skywalker saga give me a sense of accomplishment. Everything outside the story mode feels like a chore..

People currently enjoying this game are coming to the realization that the game itself is missing a WHOLE LOT of what makes a Lego game, a Lego game...
I really enjoyed the game but one thing that was very clear is that they 100% intended ep4 to be the first you play as it has the most flushed out intro. I didn’t know mind tricks were a thing until ep4 and the prequels are filled with Jedi.

I was so upset that there’s no custom character In Lego Star Wars Skywalker Saga
fr and this game was so overhyped by devs and they were so secretive, the game could’ve been so good but the gameplay wasn’t the best
I understand a lot of the complaints with this, though I feel that a lot of the games design choices were definitely meant to "break" the similarities from TCS and TSS. It tried TOO hard to be different. Lego batman 3 suffered similar issues where you hadnt entered a level at the start until like- what, 10 minutes later?
@22:00 there are rewards for filling the first and second portions of the true jedi meter. You get kyber bricks which you use to upgrade characters.
I agree to a degree, when I played the complete saga as a kid I could sit on the game for hours on end. In the skywalker saga I can only play for a small amount of time before I feel like stopping.
I still think it’s an enjoyable game, but I can only enjoy it a little bit at a time. Been plying since launch and still haven’t completed the story.
Being a kid obviously shifts one’s opinion, as there’s a longer attention span at that age and plenty of nostalgia.
@@arytaco5380 I mean, I’ve played it many times since and it still holds up fine. I have it on my phone. And I play many other games that can hold my attention, like Elden Ring this year for example. Could play that for hours on end too so I think that’s a bad argument.
@@arytaco5380 when I was a kid I could also play the game for hours and even got it to 100% completion but there were plenty of other games that couldn’t hold my attention as a kid. The idea that nostalgia and being a kid is the end all be all needs to stop, the game is just great.
@@cameron3679 From my personal experiences, games I played constantly as a kid almost always held up, while some others childhood favorites didn’t live up to their descriptions. I only played the TCS recently, and it’s a perfectly fine game but generally nothing to write home about.
@@arytaco5380 The game is more about the content of Star Wars itself, it pretty much perfectly adapts the franchise into a video game which is extremely hard to do. If you don’t think very highly of Star Wars the game most likely won’t impact you in the same way. The level design is fantastic as you can relive a lot of the moments and explore planets from the movies and the puzzles are fun and interesting. You can also create your own character to relive the saga which was super fun as a kid. Yeah it lacks in area’s like combat but theres still the basic attack/block and for what it does I think it’s still pretty innovative.
The new Skywalker Saga strays a lot from what Star Wars is and doesn’t adapt a lot of the moments in the Star Wars saga instead opting for fast levels that feel somewhat disconnected. Almost like you’re just watching a highlight reel of Star Wars instead of going through it. The open world aspect is really cool but there’s like no enemies to attack and it just becomes brick collecting. Not worth the cost reliving the story itself.
The biggest battles I looked forward to were cut out:
Battle of Endor, Space

I grew up on LEGO Star Wars the Complete Saga. I STILL play it to this day. I've played Skywalker saga as well. once I beat every the 2 original trilogy,(1-6) i stopped playing
I just miss the old Lego Star Wars format. I was disappointed to not have a true hub world with all my unlocked characters randomly spawning.
The levels just felt underwhelming and replay-ability on 90% was not exciting. Money felt like it didn’t mean much and the level of care that the prequel trilogy received was insulting.
I probably won’t ever buy another new Lego game again, but I can still find lots of joy in the older installations.
The boring part is trying to get all the characters cause half the time your ether fighting or Protecting a Character which is just walking until the enemy’s come to attack you
All this. 100%. But another thing that really ticks me off about this game is how much of the story is just cutscenes. For instance, there’s a part where you have to go confront Palpatine about being the Sith Lord, but the whole confrontation between Palpatine and Mace Windu/Kit Fisto is just a cutscene. You’re waiting to start having a lightsaber duel or something, but no. Nothing. You’re just back to walking to the next waypoint. Another example is the end of Return of the Jedi. The entire epic battle at the end is just a cutscene, and then that movie is just done.
We can all agree the voice actor of Qui-gonn wasnt the best choice since they really dont sound the same. Not to mention they didnt add Character Customization in this. That feature made TFA and other LEGO games feel like LEGO games.
It's almost like games have a limited budget and a limited time to make the game
Tbh I never really cared for the character customization
Maybe they didn't want to play a lot, which you would have to do for someone of the profile of Liam Neeson.
Sadly, this is the last time we’ll be hearing his voice. His name is Tom Kane (the same guy who voices yoda in TCW) and he recently had a stroke and cannot voice act anymore. 😢❤️
They couldn’t get customization in because of the NTT engine. A lot of the delays, disregarding covid, can be accounted towards the issues the devs had having to make the game on the NTT engine.
Now obviously there are modders who have already starting to get the basis of customization working in their games, but I think the devs at TT wanted to have customization a little more expansive than that. One of the devs said it wouldn’t have been as expansive as it was in DC supervillains, but given how the devs reported that the engine wouldn’t work with what they wanted to do with customization, I think that in the least the devs wanted to bring back more of the visual customization from DC supervillains. Mainly the option to change the colors on torsos, heads, helmets, etc.
So far I would give this game a 6/10 due to all the levels being very similar and the lack of character creator is a huge downside.
Frankly, it's one of the most disappointing pieces of media I've experienced. It's staggeringly shallow, and just a poorly designed video game (as you highlighted).
I could only stomach getting to Mos Espa in Ep I, after being in disbelief at the first "level" on Naboo. The time spent on the Trade Federation ship being just a corridor was disheartening, and being unable to control even basic platforming was concerning, but when one of the actual few levels was only 3 minutes long, I was done. The vast majority of the game is just getting 1000+ collectibles - typically the worst part of open-world games. And it doesn't even feel like a Lego game. It felt like I was playing Disney Infinity.
I genuinely do not see what so many others did. It's probably the most overrated game I know, and the only compliments I could give are the visuals; the number of characters; and not experiencing any bugs in those 2-3 hours of play.
Same. Massively disappointed by this game. Cutting down levels and replacing them with a half-baked series of hubs with little to do in them is just sad. Gotta give this a negative review.
I was unfortunate to buy this game on the switch. So in the end I forced myself to complete it because I couldn't ask for reimbursement.
I remember doing 100% of the complete saga way back then and it was so much fun. The lightweight and joyful atmosphere, with the humorous tone. I didn't mind going back and forth between chapters to collect everything and I was eager to play as different characters.
This game on the other hand is lifeless. By the end of it I found myself just rushing everything just to be over with it. Every character felt the same, the puzzles are boring, the combat is boring, and thre is this overflow of cutscenes and pointless missions that you just have to walk around to the next cutscene.
At no point I ever felt the need (or the desire) to go back into a specific chapter in free roam, or do more than the bare minimum to complete it.

Late but, yeah, I didn’t like this game either. It took me until Droid Factory where I was like ‘this is…very boring and tedious.’ It takes a lot for a LEGO game, which usually manage to do repetition well and creatively, to be tedious and unrewarding. I was already disappointed to find out that the only real levels in the game were ship combat or boss battles while puzzles were relegated to the overworld, it just felt awkward. Keep in mind the most recent LEGO game I played before this was Jurassic World I believe, I’ve been out of the loop for modern LEGO games, but even Incredibles has more in depth levels from what I’ve seen. I think LEGO Jurassic World (and to an effect the other games released near that time) balanced level and overworld perfectly, while Skywalker Saga has too much overworld and not enough level. I heard the game wasn’t really designed for people to start with the Prequels and that the Original and Sequels are much better which…why tho. Of course some fans would want to start in chronological order, you don’t have an excuse to half a** an entire third of the game.
In LEGO Jurassic World, if you want, you can either continue Jurassic Park and play the Lost World and III, or you can immediately start Jurassic World from the beginning if you really don’t want to wade through the first 3 movies. I recommend you do though since the first three movies have some very fun levels and character abilities to collect items later, but the game was clearly designed for you to either start from the beginning or start in Jurassic World, thus they give you an option and tutorials are present in both Jurassic Park and Jurassic World and both have equal amounts of effort and creativity; if anything, Jurassic Park has more creativity than Jurassic World in its first few levels, mainly because there’s more characters and abilities but that’s besides the point.
So yeah, I bought Skywalker Saga and all its DLC (unfortunately), played up to Episode II, realized I wasn’t having fun at all and nothing felt satisfying to do, uninstalled it and never touched it again as it gathers dust in my Steam library somewhere.
While the thumbnail is a bit clickbaity, this definitely helped put my thoughts on the game into words from the multiple playthroughs of the game I've watched so far.

My only complaint of the entire game is the fact your CHARACTER locked in story mode…. That’s the biggest L I could ever think on a video game. If it’s because of the story, all you have to do is make the cut scenes only include the characters that are supposed to be there, so that wouldn’t make any sense at all but instead they wanna sell DLC as extra characters, but only allow you to use them and free roam I think that’s absolute BS.
Can you not change characters when you replay missions? (I wouldn't know, I never completed episode 1)
I feel the game goes by too fast I finished the prequels in 2 to 3 days cause I knew i could've have finished it too quickly in one day and in the original game the levels were unique and way more memorable and it gave more of an experience I believe that for this game level design should have been there first priority before open world exploration it's still a fun game to play but it could have been so much better

What i find most interesting though, is that for 90% of that Video called "The Skywalker Saga is kinda Boring..." you only really mention Episode 1. What annoys me the most about this game is the absolutely abysmal user interface
My problem with every review is that every single one is comparing the game to its predecessor when they’re not taking it for what it is, a new game. This man goes in depth on the tutorial because it pauses the game for not even a second, THAT IS WHAT TUTORIALS DO IN ANY GAME EVER MADE. He says he doesn’t mind too much change but then complains about EVERY SINGLE THING that is different from the original. I’ll answer the final question for you “Why is this Lego?” It’s Lego because if it wasn’t everyone would be complaining and trying to make things canon, also you can’t have the LEGO humor in any other game, and you can’t have the silliness in the side quests and characters and story that make this game really feel like it’s unique. I’m NOT trying to spread hate and definitely NOT trying to say his opinion is wrong, (I know there are those people that would take me for someone who hates on other peoples opinions so I have to clarify).🙃

@@THE_AceOfSarcasm i am not playing it but if you want to play a game with only 10 to 15 minute main missions with an empty open world that had over a 1,000 collectibles in it be my guest.
@@THE_AceOfSarcasm No, you don't get it. The tutorial does not pause your game for half a second, it pauses the entire time til you know how to do it. I tested, got popcorn, and came back from eating popcorn for a half hour and the game did not progress like the originals. It stayed in one spot til you knew what to do.
I initially gave up the game in the first padme escort mission. This game's problem is that there is way too much open world stuff that really should be just a cutscene, like all the escort stuff.
You have a good point about the Droidekas. In Skywalker Saga the enemies are pointless. They are no challenge and are all the same as each other. You just mindlessly gun/slash them down. Including the Droideka, who in the Complete Saga was a very creatively designed enemy that you had to adopt a specific strategy for to beat.
The Complete Saga is a much better game. The Skywalker Saga is more of a compilation of cutscenes and pretty locations to run around in.
What do you mean? You destroy the Droidekas in Skywalker Saga the same way you do in Complete Saga. Slash at their shields under they’re broken. Or double jumped and slash down to destroy them in one hit. That’s how it is in every LEGO Star Wars game with Droidekas. The only thing that’s changed about the Droidekas is there design in the games.
@@blachbird067 Droidekas take five hits to take down in Complete Saga. They can be one hit by doing the diving lightsaber attack. They can also be damaged faster by deflecting their blaster fire back at them.
All of this you can still do in Skywalker Saga. Though I haven’t used the diving thing on them yet in the game. I’ll still have to see if that one-hits their shield or if it no longer does that for Skywalker Saga.
Also, durability is not the same thing as strength. All of the Droidekas in these games have the same amount of strength. Their shielding is not apart of that strength. Their shielding is protection; a way for them to last longer. Strength is what you can dish out against your opponent while durability is how long you can last.
From what I’ve seen, Droidekas go down in four hits this time around. Three hits for when their shield is blue and one hit for when their shield is red. But they still go down the same way and attack the same way as they have done in every other LEGO Star Wars game they have appeared in. At least in main consoles. I’m not sure about app games. Having their shields last longer doesn’t really make the Droidekas more difficult as it does making it a bit more redundant to fight them using regular swings or blaster attacks. And again, there’s that diving attack that one-shots their shield in the previous games, making it far easier to destroy Droidekas than going about the simpler route.
Not to mention that in Complete Saga when you destroyed their shielding, Droidekas could not reactivate it. But in Skywalker Saga Droidekas can reactivate their shielding if you don’t attack them quick enough.
@@blachbird067 I played the game yesterday on IPad. The diving slash attack is double jump then slash down your lightsaber. It one hits their shield every time.
You’re the one not remembering here. Do the diving attack on Complete Saga the next time you play it. Remember, double jump, then slash down. Everyone who’s beaten Complete Saga knows this.
Also, I never said it one hits a Droideka. I said it one hits their shield. You still have to attack the Droideka after taking out their shield.
@@jaydonmagan4694 I disagree. You can't mindlessly slash away at Droidekas in Complete Saga and get away with it. You know that isn't how you beat them. You will just keep dying. You have to figure out the efficient way to beat them, like you say: double jumping and doing the ground pound attack to break their shields. It's not like they were super difficult to beat but you had to actually think.
In the Skywalker Saga you can just hack and slash at them and they die like any other enemy. You can't deny it it's just true. I had no idea their shields regenerate, so they clearly die too quickly for it to matter.
@@mrboost4186 Yes, you can hack and slash at Droidekas the slow way, regardless if you die or not because it’s a LEGO game and you can just respawn. I’ve done it before. Anyone who was a kid and first played Complete Saga has done it before.
And the issue isn’t that they die too fast. You only think that because of how fast we attack using our characters here as opposed to Complete Saga.
In Complete Saga, each lightsaber strike was more moderately slow in speed, meaning when fighting a Droideka it would take a while to take down the shielding by going the normal route, disregarding the diving slash here.
But in Skywalker Saga, the rate in which we can attack has increased, allowing us to attack much faster than before as the only thing that would slow your movement is how fast your hitting your attack button. It takes four hits to destroy a Droideka’s shield in Skywalker Saga, but since we can attack much faster than before, it seems like the Droidekas are weaker.
The truth is that the Droidekas are not weaker. They took away one less hit to take down their shielding and traded it for the ability to regenerate their shield. The fact of the matter is that any character you use, especially Jedi and Sith, have been designed to attack better. So realistically, your complaint isn’t about the Droidekas, but about how fast we can attack in the game.
They had 10 minutes of you going through the stupid empty Gungan City but couldn't bother to make a proper huge Geonosis arena, the battle for Geonosis and not even some of the important duels or Clone Wars parts...
This game made me tired but I still somewhat enjoyed it as long as I played the game in short bursts about one episode every few days
I feel like the first part of phantom menace wasn’t supposed to be the tutorial. I feel like they fully expected you to start with a new hope and they were like “oh yeah! People might want to start with episode one!” Which when I got into Star Wars I thought Episode One was the first movie released until I quickly find out it wasn’t
I appreciate you keeping it real on this channel and giving your honest opinion
I appreciate you watching
One of my largest issues is a combat system that barely gets to be used because all the enemies besides bosses are like 2 shot kills
Not gonna lie, the first 2 movies are boring af but from the 3rd to the 6 I had so much fun specially on the 6 movie
Episode 4 is probably my favorite

sad part is the pod race was a better level
Free roaming, I found a lot of fun quick puzzles, nothing to challenging, I think free roaming the game has a lot to offer. The main story missions are pretty lackluster, while some missions are very well put together, others are just missions to get you to the next cutscene. Personally, had they just remade the old levels, made the new ones for the new movies, and given us a general home base. That would have completely okay with me. I think they tried to do too much far out of the scope of the normal lego game, and much of it is too streamlined and basic to make any real impact on the game. I don't hate it, I actually respect the devs for going in this direction, trying to do sometime different. But it fell far too flat in so many areas.
Thank you sooo much for making this video. Right when I started playing this game I scoured the internet for reviews expecting people to share the experience I was having and they were all positive. So I’m glad my negative feelings have finally been validated.
After a couple of gameplays, I enjoyed the cutscenes only. I still can’t believe how the game developers changed the gameplay for this one.
if anything an open world star wars game might be better suited to the clone wars with main missions following along with the plots from the show with smaller side missions made up for the game scattered about coming up with unique scenarios and puzzles maybe linked to liberating and capturing planets by securing territories to give it an overall purpose for you to go exploring and find these side missions and puzzles as well as some unique mini games based on the planets your on like speeder racing through kashik, or rankor wrangling on tatooine, gives the open world a purpose like you said
I’ve only gotten through the first episode and like half of episode two so I’m holding out hope that the other episodes are better but man, I was not that big of a fan of episode 1. This game is just so much more tedious than the first game and the smaller emphasis on the levels themselves was incredibly disappointing. What you said about the one droid mission after the pod race level really hit home for me, after running in to that I just decided that I’m not going to explore the worlds until I have completed the story, which makes playing the game more painful. Add on that this game clearly has not been optimized well for multiplayer or for the switch (which are how I’ve been playing this game and have already had multiple crashes) and it just ends up making this game feel like a let down. Holding out hope that the other episodes are better.
Imo the original and sequel levels are way better than the prequel except for ROTS which was my favorite episode in this game

@5:50 Who's going to break it to him that it's already 2022, not 2020? lol
I totally agree! I have played all the Lego games since their first release for PS2! I was so excited for this one thinking they would have the similar feel and concept as the older ones but perhaps with newer level designs and other things. I am not enjoying spending a majority of my time going around worlds doing silly things to collect bricks! I want levels. The levels are short, often annoying and I’m just not enjoying the game. I too love getting 100% on the games but I feel it will take a long time as I can only sit and play for like half an hour before getting bored. Looks like I’m pulling out the old PS2 and playing the original! Again!! I’m glad I’m not alone in thinking it was a waste of money. I shall hope for the next one to be better.
Also, this game flip flops between really really easy, or frustratingly difficult.
The open world is fun thing about the game. The levels are just ok. It's the exploration and details that gets me.
Me: *hits the inventory button*
Also me: *gets hit by information overload*
I'm pretty sure there is a mini reward for filling in each of the three True Jedi bars... Doing so earns you three Kyber Bricks, one for each section.
Yep. Each mission gives 6 Kyber Bricks. 1 for basic completion on Story mode for the first time, 1 for doing all 3 challenges for the mission, 1 for getting all 5 minikits, and 1 for every 1/3rd of the True Jedi bar you fill up.
I really dislike open world. I get a weird sense of fomo if I don’t do everything I possibly can in an open area before progressing the story and so I’ve spent way to much time wasting away on Tatooine because there’s a bonkers amount of side quests. I don’t come to lego games to do side quests to earn bricks to give myself power ups. I just want to run around environments and solve silly little puzzles
What I hate the most about the Skywalker saga is that there aren’t actually any levels (for the most part). All there is are open world segments where you walk from point a to point b, play a cutscene and then repeat. There’s little to no building, there’s little to no puzzles (if you can call those stupid computer panels puzzles) and there are only about 6 different abilities (most relating to computer panels) which makes each character feel pretty much the same as every other one (they clearly went for quantity over quality).
Mumble Mode does NOT need to be unlocked it can be turned on from the very beginning.
One of my biggest complaints is that they kept the rathtar hunting level from The Force Awakens, but they made the Takodana battle an open world thing
I want a remaster of LEGO Star Wars The Clone Wars personally
There is nothing new in Lego games, it is copy and paste from the rest of the Lego games , But still good
All i have to say is i pray they dont incorporate challenges in free play cos some of them were horrible.
And the fact that the game isn’t like the old ones is why I like it.
So bored of the formula.
Fair enough
right? played nearly a dozen games with the same formula about time for something different
but the new formula ultimately hurt the game
and if you are tired of this formula, why not play different games?
The people who think this is one of the best, or frankly, even a good lego game are just the kind of people who see anything star wars and make the :O face because... honestly I don't know. Boredom? Lack of fulfillment in life? A desperate escape in nostalgia? Skywalker saga is bad. It's fine to enjoy it, but I wish people would stop telling Tt that this is good, because it isn't and it's going to kill the series.
It's definitely interesting seeing this video after Jay Exci's review of Complete Saga, what with how the gameplay boils down to "Mash the X or B buttons till you win" without any considerable challenge. The story being sometimes highly drawn out with combat and puzzles makes it almost feel like both games have the same problems for completely different reasons, with TCS being easy to process but highly repetitive as a result and TSS feeling more like a tour than a game.
Also, yes, you absolutely can destroy Droidekas in TCS just by slashing their shields. The intended method is apparently to deflect their lasers, which is required to beat the B1's at the beginning of the Darth Maul mission but not even through the hints you buy in the Cantina does the game ever tell you about it.
It’s not supposed to be that challenging and it’s not like a tour at all
Let's not act like a lot of lego games are challenging
@@TheAnimatedGamer That's kind my point tbh. Since the games are almost entirely a matter of interacting with whatever you can interact with, there wasn't anything to write home about for the gameplay whereas the artistic direction was what made the games and most of their levels so memorable.
@@Zeggladore I think that last thought you just said is the exact issue with the new game. The levels aren't memorable. They put all of the effort into a bunch of side quests but didn't actually add anything of value to the episodes, which is the main reason people are playing this. If I wanted to play side quests and explore open worlds, I wouldn't be playing a LEGO game. Part of the reason LEGO games are so great and memorable even with a lack of challenge is due to the great level design. This game heavily lacks that.
I'm glad I found this video. It has helped me to lower my expectations of a proper Lego game and wait until this is on sale before I buy it
This just summarized everything I feel about the game… The ”no building” part hit me hard man that was the reason I didnt even finish ep 1

Like you I am somewhat bored by the game, one one hand, it did a lot of things right, on other hand, it had a lot of misses. I agree that the game definitely should have had more combat and campaign based puzzles with both areas really lacking. In the end this Lego game is far from the best of the franchise, but also far from the worst. On the plus side, I think this is still my favorite Lego Star wars game they made despite it's flaws.
To be honest, it is pretty boring. The story is absolutely amazing, but once you complete all of the missions, it's not fun afterwards with all of the random puzzles
My biggest disappointment with this game is probably how much important or iconic scenes they left out or just showed in a few seconds cutscene and with that made them unplayable.
For example I was so hyped for Episode 3 in this game. And as soon as I started it I was already mad since you can't play the Battle over Coruscant yourself. And in the General Grievous level the whole Boga chase is missing. Mace Windu vs. Palpatine is also just in a short cutscene. I was so hyped to play all of these scenes but nope...
Then in Episode 2 the whole Battle of Geonosis is kinda missing. The freaking battle which started the whole clone wars... And in Episode 1 I was really missing the retake of the Theed palace. Tarkin might be a playable character but is completely missing in the story of the game and with that also the destruction of Alderaan. Or the space battle over Endor - also just a cutscene. Some of these scenes were even already level in the original games so I really don't get it why they left all that stuff out. And then on the other side we have levels like in Episode 1 where you have to escape the big fishes or in Episode 4 where you have to repair the Falcon in Mos Eisley... wow...
currently playing this game myself and im having the same feelings. played episodes 4 and 5 and im just kinda bored. this game truely feel feels like a regular starwars game wearing the skin of a lego game. im having a fun enough time to keep going a little while longer but its nothing like the other lego video games
I wish you could have played Episode III because that is the Episode where I really got annoyed with the game, even though I have found enjoyment in it. You've hit the nail on the head with pretty much everything in this video though. That ending hit hard.
Yeah, no spoiler but the Darth Vader scene was good.

I have just started this game, via Game Pass on PC, and I kind of feel the same way. I started on Episode 4 and the only thing I've done that resembles other lego games is smash things to get studs... I am glad you were willing to put this video up, instead of just doing a play through. Thanks!
I remember when I first played lego star wars. My mom who grew up watching those movies got me this game for Christmas when I was 8. It ended up taking us 3 months to beat with my moms work schedule at the time.
Now that I have kids of my own who love star wars, I was thrilled to hear when they were gonna be remaking the lego star wars games.
To my disappointment, I felt like some of the magic was lost and it didn't feel like a lego game. Way too much time walking to trigger cutscenes only to trigger cutscenes, thats not gameplay. I felt bored and my kids did too.
At least they love lego marvel superheros 1 and 2 so, not all hope is lost.
Good video i totally agree. Like you I have play every single lego video game from the first to the lasts. And i was asking myself if I grew up because I didn't have that much fun anymore with the last lego games. I discover that the factor is that they stop the simplycity on the levels and focus on innecessary open world's on every lego game and really really long campaign levels. Also another thing I don't like about skywalker saga is how mediocre some levels on the campaign are compare to the ones on previews games. For example episode 2 battle at Coliseum is really bad compare to the clone wars level one . Also the fact that you can not create your own character is sad. See the reason must people are enjoying so much this game is because most people who play it only play Lego Star wars complete saga on 2008 at there only lego video game. But people like us have seen how much lego games have evolved with the times and we were really expecting something better
Actually, True Jedi is segmented into three bars because you get a cyberbrick per bar.
I dislike this system. Lol
Yeah the bad pacing, lack of clear level design and little annoying things really added up quick for me.within like 10 hours I just didn't want to play any more whatsoever. But now I can appreciate the brilliance and simplicity of the original, and wanna go replay those soon! Great video
The Lego games have been rocketing down hill
I wish that when you went to a planet it would kinda be like no mans sky. Instead of a loading screen then just the landing sequence.
You can just tell developers used most of their time and resources on the open world and the levels were an afterthought. The game even misses many important levels like the battle of Coruscant, Windu vs Palpatine duel, battle of Endor and many more. The levels are just boring. There are no unique puzzles, no creative boss battles, no special interactions with funny animations, no building, no clever uses of character abilities, no nothing. You just go to the marker, kill enemies and that's it.
My main problem is how if you're on PC, the ship level's controls are broken to the point where it's practically unplayable.
They're not much better on console.
Just play with a controller, much easier
Does nobody feel getting all the kyber bricks is painfully boring, and every time I try to do it, I get way too bored and have to stop. That’s why I still think Lego MSH is my favorite Lego game.
