What Kelly says about not teaching about protection and consent because it could encourage “false behaviour” is such an important point.
In my family (not Mormon though) and also in school (Germany) the opposite was believed to be true and when it happened (rather late in freshman year of college) I felt prepared in the way that I knew how to protect me from pregnancy and disease as well as that I had the right to tell when something didn’t feel good or that I did or didn’t feel ready yet (basically the very definition of consent).
I feel so bad for all these young teenage girls (and boys) who grow up without that knowledge and therefore end up having experiences that feel uncomfortable, that are dangerous in some way or another or even make sexual relationships traumatic and stigmatising, not even to mention the added weird factor of a middle aged man asking private questions to them about this matter when being alone with him, it sounds awful.

This is the way young women are groomed for sexual abuse, which should never happen in churches, but sadly does. A male church leader does NOT need to be asking a woman or young girl these questions, especially all the specific details, especially ALONE with her! It’s grossly inappropriate!!! Mormonism is a CULT, plain & simple. It is FAR from a church of Jesus Christ, and is a counterfeit of a true relationship with God through Jesus Christ! Do not walk away, RUN away from anyplace like this!

I am guessing the surgery referred to was to open a hymen blocking the vaginal opening (thus related to the menstrual cycle), but I am not sure, due to the post op protocol ( mom applying a salve). There is also mention of someone touching her without permission: is this mom or someone else? A little confusing. But not really related to all of the questions asked by the various bishops, which are of course horrific, since these are not medical professionals, but just some random guys you saw at church every week who were given a title. Does anyone else feel these older men were getting thrills by asking these girls to show where they had been touched and how many times, etc? Good point Jared. We so often focus on the injustice and emotional torture puritanical and doctrinaire cults like mormonism impose on homosexuals. There are heterosexuals who are also caught in the emotional trauma brought on by a rigid moral code derived from iron and bronze age "holy scripture." Some years ago as I studied Islam and realized what incredibly unnatural restrictions that religion imposes on young men at exactly the time their hormonal activity is at it's absolute peak. They can't even look a young woman in the face. No wonder Islam so lends itself to educated young men blowing themselves up along with as many innocent people they can take with them for the sake of "martyrdom." Then I look at the Utah Mormon culture; mission at age 18, and when finish, you don't screw around, you get married for time and eternity before the temptation of the flesh lead you astray. If it just so happens you love the person you hastily courted then married for time and eternity then so much the better, but that is purely a secondary consideration. Is Mormonism, the Utah variety anyway, really that much different from Islam in the way they impose their horribly puritanical doctrine on young people?

This is so disturbing. There are so many more guards in the mainstream denominations that have confession and terrible things still happen.
Confession is designed to run fast, many people are done in a minute, I've seen 20 or 30 penitents go in an hour.
Kind and number, only details that make clear what the sin is and how many times. "I did everything but sex" would be exactly the expected way to say it. Priests discourage details, and the confession is sealed. A priest is told in seminary that they should die instead of revealing any confessed sins.
And the priests get a degree in theology before any of this.
I've left since and even my experience I look back on in horror.

I have a hard time accepting how much power a Bishop has in the LDS Church. Telling everything to the Bishop in the most minute detail is wrong. It is none of his business. It is hard to believe that parents allow this to happen to their young children and teenagers. Even as an adult I would be against this practice. The brainwashing is strong such that parents don't find this wrong. When a Bishop knows all the intimate details of your life, he has the power to blackmail a person. I do not like it.

These Bishops are not trained psychologists and these interviews are designed to degrade the interviewee, not to help the person. Sexuality in the Church is narrowly prescribed. The sexual explicitly of the interview is designed to illicit acceptable and chaste behaviors and shame the woman. It’s fetishized to the point of denigrating female sexuality and explains that women alone are the guardians of sexual activity and are singularly to blame if anything out of bounds happens. I grew up Mormon and at least the church I went to if you did anything you felt you needed to repent for whether it was sexual, word of wisdom related etc. we were told it's up to you what you want to share because that is between you and God. However if you feel a need to repent don't take the sacrament until your sinning behavior is fixed. The only time I was ever asked about sex, drugs etc. was by the Stake President dealing with a temple recommend for baptisms for the dead. Even then it was just an honor system. I haven't been in over 30 years. I was bored with it. Was 19 and was supposed to go on a mission but never really believed the religion part. The people are mostly quality people the kind you want as a neighbor. Some of my Bishops were far better at relating than others but that's just how people are. A bishop in the Mormon church has to be the most difficult assignment in the church. He has to decide who to help, talk to a wide range of people, deal with finances etc., put together the weekly meeting and still run his personal life. Not a job I would want.

Dont blame the church for some wierd people. It sucks you had to deal with these idiots, but the church is true. No, the church is NOT true, it is a lie. The BofM cannot possibly be a true history. The BofA is such a proven joke that any discussion of it is more appropriate for late night comedy. But all that is another discussion. The point here is your true church teaches bishops have power of discernment and revelation for their domain, the ward. Stake Presidents have the same for their domain, the stake. There is no latitude what so ever for members to pick and choose those who as you put it are "douches." Whether it be the total asses the highest levels of your church made themselves out to be in any number of events, notably the Hoffman scandal of mid 1980s, or the children of homosexual couples debacle of this century, or local bishops who prove themselves to be voyeurs at the church's direction, your church dogma leaves no room for "some are and some aren't."

You should be ashamed of yourself for conducting this interview with Kelly Trust. While testimonials of this nature can be informative and illuminating, it should be conducted with an interviewee that is mentally balanced and mature. Kelly is neurotic (weird, inappropriate laughter) and still deeply (pathologically) disturbed about her past. She is not able to discuss the matter rationally but instead STILL exhibits psychological quirkiness, contorted facial expressions and inappropriate reactions that shows she is mentally unstable. She's being exploited for the minimal content you were trying to extract from her. She shows NO perspective or successfully processed emotions, which means she should not be interviewed about this topic until she demonstrates more psychological maturity. It's an exploitative and re-traumatizing interview. Shame on the interviewer.

I’m not Mormon, I’m Jewish, I don’t really have much contact with Mormons. However, where I used to live in PA I had a lot of of contact with them and I came to realize- MORMONS ARE THE NICEST PEOPLE IV’E EVER MET.
This particular bishop was a weirdo and was undoubtedly getting-off to if, oh well.
