Excellent video! I bought a new Strat shipped with 9 - 42 gauge strings on it and I eventually restrung it with 9 - 46 gauge strings and the strings didn't ring out clearly like the old strings. It was because the new thicker strings were binding in the nut slots. I returned to 9 - 42 gauge strings and the great sound returned!
In the last year, I've used more graphite on my 12 string instrument than I did in my entire elementary school. It felt there should be a better way, but you always get these lubricate nut videos. I really need to find a good luthier to fix the nut.
If you’re using a #2 pencil lead (graphite) try an HB art pencil instead. Blow out excess graphite if necessary. A correctly cut nut is of course vital as the video states. Rock on 🎸
Good advice. I do occasionally put a little specialized nut lube on my Strat to help with the whammy bar but it's true, if the nut is cut properly and kept clean (business card works well) it shouldn't bind.
Hi my wound strings go sharp when i use my whammy its a harlry benton fusion 3 i replace the graph tech with a new one same thing i even ise ben nut sauce same issue

yes, a good luthier could get it going great. Graphite is not the answer.

the guitar nut is held in by string tension. We put a drop of superglue (клей момент) so it doesn't move around when the string are off.
