I'd love a chest piece to go with the fantasy set. We're hitting the ren-faire this year with whatever pieces you create (we have 3 suits made up). A chest piece would round out the top half nicely.
Thank you for recommending Tandy Leather. I was able to find a couple of stores in my area that I can use to help get myself into this craft. Your videos are incredibly inspiring to me as an aspiring leather worker. Thank you.
We all need MORE!!!! like I don't think any of us care what you make just as long as you make something you can make something little and we would still appreciate it WE NEED MORE VIDEOS LOL love it man 👊❤️ lol

Definitely some of the sickest leather on the planet! Kudos Brother, great videos, like the longer ones with more verbiage. I've been working leather for years & recently found your channel and learn from you regularly. Thanks
I’d like to see you make something that can demonstrate how metal and leather work together! Like a Gladiator belt, large metal buckle/shield plate on a large leather belt. Love the tutorials and can’t wait to see more!
Right now I'm trying to demonstrate simple approachable projects and I fear a corset, at least an actual one, might be a bit advanced for this stage. But I do have some female designs in mind for armor projects though.
@@Princearmory One fo the difficult things I had was to make the pattern. I made it match my arm... After I finished, I realized I should have made it larger. In the last minute, I added straps, so it could fit. I also made one to many bad cuts, because my hand slipped, so I sewed those pieces together. I also don't know what type of leather I used, I just know its black, and as thick as 2 quarters put together.
@@Megaman22xx Thanks for the feedback. Hopefully making a paper mockup will prevent most sizing issues. I think many people skip this step and hope the pattern is fit perfectly for them : )

A nice cheat if you're looking for a decent strap, is to go to a thrift store and look for some leather clothes. Particularly Skirts as they are more likely to have a minimum of seams to disrupt your work.
That many layers on 8/9oz...strap those on you might be feeling almost bulletproof. That said, I wonder if it might be worthwhile to line the inside with a garment suede or some other soft material for comfort? Maybe closed cell foam? Might also help deaden impacts for LARP
Thats always an option! I'm aiming to keep the tutorials mostly focused otherwise there'd be too many techniques per tutorial and they'd never end. There are so many options.
Wow! I've bought the pattern and I'm impress! I've try it with fake leather, now I'll try with leather! Right after I saw the pattern I knew its was high quality with the drawing. My only recommendation will be to add number on pieces and a little ''assembly manual'', because I needed to reverse engineer your video a bit for the assembly. I still don't know where all the 4 pieces for the elbows goes xD. In short, I highly recommend his patterns. Thank you Samuel Lee.
I'm excited about tandy having a new ceo, they definitely need to update and modernize some aspects of their business. The website and app specifically... I love tandy's, not talking crap just excited for the changes.
Am I the only one that would have liked more detail on which way to put buckles and what pieces go where? Doesn't have to show them being riveted, just laying flat together on a table would have saved me a bunch of time. Also the pattern itself was a HUGE pain to put together since it was one single page that had to be broken up into 6 pieces. Personally I rather have them on separate pages so I wouldn't have to tape them together. It is a pattern not a puzzle.
I have to agree. Figuring out where all the pieces went was a bit of a pain and it would really have helped to see them layed out where they went, and printing would be much easier broken up instead of cutting and taping pieces together.
Thank you for not only taking the time to make these videos, but also sharing your patterns and techniques with us! I truly appreciate all you're doing for this community. I have one quick question...how do you size the different armor pieces? I have a couple of kids that are all different sizes and I don't know how to size them appropriately. Thanks!
Hey could you show in one of your next video how to sew two piece of leather together? I know in one of the previous tutorial we kann see it already, but I couldn't follow it properly. Btw I love your work!
There are a couple commercials uploaded to the channel that show off some custom projects in action. But as for the tutorials, all of the pieces are different to demonstrate different techniques and ideas so they won't match. And I'm only making one side for the sake of video purposes.
Great video, can't wait til I've got the whole suit made! A little feedback: BG music is pretty loud in some parts, mostly at beginning. I wish you had clearly shown what order the Vambrace pieces went on, as it was different from the pieces/order in the gauntlet vid. I had to stop this video at the end and frame skip to get a clear view of which plate ended up where. I really dig how you do different techniques/processes each time. Keep this up, I'm learning every video! In the pattern download, it'd be nice if you included what hardware is required for each piece. Miscounted Chicago screws and didn't get enough my first run to Tandy Thanks so much for doing this, again. Looking forward to the next!
Awesome video! Cant wait to see the pattern when its in the store! I already have the bracers and helmet. Havent made them yet, as you know, hide costs $$. lol
Hey, I love your videos and would like to implement the concepts into making some of my own specific designs. Do you have any advice or perhaps a past video on adjusting or creating one’s own designs?
I try to demonstrate slightly different techniques in every video and will make more technique videos in the future so you can pick and choose what designs to go with. All the details are optional so its up to you.
When dying the leather do you let it completely dry between coats, also am assuming the more coats the deeper the colour? Also when putting the finishing clear coat is that when the dyes have dried ?
I purchased this pattern and unlike the other ones I purchased the pdf is not sized correctly if it is printed on normal paper. How much should I increase the size to get the pattern to print the correct size and reg printer paper?
What I did was download Adobe Acrobat Reader, and on the print settings page I selected the "Poster" option. I just had to tape the pieces together after they printed.
The correct size for the default setting is 100%. The other patterns could be broken into easier page sized pieces but this is a more complex and larger pattern that you'll have to print as tiled pages and tape together.
Quick question that has been burning ever since I made them myself. Is there any way to attach these to the fantasy spaulders without inhibiting movement? Mine continue to slide down my arms despite being tight and they won’t stay in the correct position. The twist of the arm doesn’t correlate with the movement of the shoulder so I can’t simply fit a strap to it and call it a day. Thanks in advance
Not oval, but what I do is just punch two holes next to each other when need be. But that thinking is approaching it from a metal armor standpoint where you need slides but since leather is already quite flexible, most joints do not need this addition. Also, a single point hole is very strong for a chicago screw, however, expanding the hole weakens it the wider you make it, the screw can even be pulled out of the slot due to the flexibility of leather. I would make an exception for the wrist joints and at times certain pauldron designs, but for the most part I'd design the components to work with the hinge action of a single point.
The sq ft used will vary depending on the scale of the pattern, the size and shape of the hide, and how the patterns are arranged and how efficiently they are cut out. But generally speaking, a small portion of one side.

Paint is probably the most common way. You can buy white leather but the work ability is more limited, so, choose your poison.
I love your rivet anvil, where did you find it?
Would it not be ideal to actually dip the leather in the dyes, or does that not work as well as the sponge application
Dip dyeing is a wonderful option that gives beautiful consistent results. The main issues are that it requires a LOT of dye and most people aren't interested in buying/keeping quarts/gallons of each dye color. It also has the added risk of more catastrophic spills if something goes wrong.
