It’s most obvious with companies like Walmart and Amazon who hire the bare minimum amount of employees to be functional, works them to the bone, and pay them nothing. So we can totally blame share holder intervention as to why workers aren’t being properly compensated
Glenn! There’s a US based guitar manufacturer (California to be exact) - Viper Guitars. Their in-stock guitars start about $1,400ish. May be worth a look

Yes, I wish the guitar manufactures would move the controls away from the bridge so many nice guitars I’ve tried and would not buy because the controls are too close. I’ll never understand why.
I got a deal on a Schecter E-1 built at World Music in Korea that is mahogany and ebony... and lefty and its incredible....i didnt even want short scale but its now my main player 😂 wanted a lefty Explorer for almost 20 years and Schecter came through
I got a Harley Benton dullahan with upgraded pickups.. spot on.. frets are fine. Hardware fine breathable matte finish.. Maple neck that rivals carvin I had built . Alder body that heavy ...
I happen to have a C-6 Plus in the same finish as well. Got it second hand for super cheap while in Japan and it plays and sounds so good, especially for what it cost. Definitely worth considering if you're on a budget and want something good.
I was really excited to buy a Schecter guitar, but when I went to the store and tried out every model, the necks just felt off in my hands. It wasn't a deal-breaker, but it was enough to make me question my decision. So I went to another store and bought a new Jackson instead. The Jackson felt much better in my hands, so I was willing to spend the time and money to make it play and sound better. After all, for me, it's all about how a guitar feels in my hands. If I like the neck, I'm willing to spend the time and money to make it play and sound better.
Every shecter I have purchased had electronic issues! Silver mountain, the switch was just barley touching the foil on the electronics cover, and when I would switch to the neck pick up, it would short out. Balsac The pick up selector switch would short out because it was not making contact. i have to bend it back every couple of months. Also the Bridge pick up what cut out do to a wiring issue. I just purchased a reaper FR6 and the first one I received the neck pick up had a very weak signal and the frets were actually sticking out of the fret board cutting into my fingers So I sent that one back and got a replacement, and the pick ups in the replacement sound distorted kinda like a blow speaker behind it (Yes, I tried different cables, guitars, cabs and amps. It's the guitar) And when I tried to remove the electronics, cover all the wood around the electronics cover chipped off due to it being in there so tight. Glen, how do you get under $500 guitars from shecter that are good but I spend $1000+ and get shit.
So here's an odd factoid about Schecter... for some reason their lower end guitars are BETTER than their mid tier or high end stuff. My main Schecter collection (I have more than these three but these are the ones I've owned the longest and regularly use) includes a C-7 SLS Elite ($1500), a C-1 FR-S Apocalypse ($1189), and a C-6 Deluxe ($350). The C-7 has an issue at the nut on the G string and the neck pickup doesn't work, the Apocalypse has been my problem child for six years with various electronics and hardware problems, but the C-6 Deluxe (my first electric guitar mind you) has been completely rock solid with absolutely no issues whatsoever. It's been modded out of preference, rather than necessity, whereas the other two still need or have needed to be modded just to make them function fully. The unfortunate thing about Schecter, as much as I do love their instruments is that you're actually better off buying their cheaper, more boring instruments than their more high end ones with actual interesting features. I don't know quite how they manage this, but if you want a quality Schecter guitar, buy from their cheaper lineup.
As a lefty, Schecter has become my go-to brand. No one has the same selection of LH models they do it seems. I got my first one (C6 Plus) a couple of years ago and just got my Omen Elite 7-string last month. Both are fantastic. Next one will be a green one I call the Shrekter.
I got a Schecter Deluxe that was barely even $200 and it was awesome. They are great guitars and not just for beginners. I've been playing 40 years and loved it. I'll be getting another.
I was just looking at 7 strings and comparing Schecter with Ibanez, Jackson, etc. I was pretty blown away by some of the features for the price. The closest comparison Jackson I could find cost $300 more and didn’t have stainless steel frets. I feel like schecter is really going hard to get past the monster energy stigma.
Thank you for convincing me. My Mom gave me an acoustic sgr for my 13th birthday. AMAZING SOUND 👌 bends are insane for beinng an acoustic. Someone gave me an acoustic and the difference between the two is amazing. Been trying to decide which electric guitar to get and i was really debating a squire but this seems so much better and 399 isnt too much more for something I know is gonna have the range to play the disturbed and tool I want. Too bad guitar cases are so expensive though. Gig bags arent worth a fuck
I had the 7 string version as my first 7 string! It was really damn good and this was back in 2018. I haved definitely moved on but I'll always recommend this model :)
I bought a Jackson s22 dinky for 280 Canadian bucks. (After yen exchange rate, I live in Japan) and man. It just says “Jackson” on the headstock and is an wicked guitar for the money. I had a bunch of Gibson’s and some fenders in the past but I’m just hanging on to my one modded 2014 melody maker now (still my fav guitar) and sold the rest. Been looking for more reasonable alternatives for the last few years. I’ll be looking at Schecter also. Thanks Glen!
Hi Glenn a friend of mine uses neo magnet drivers in his pa with No reduction in sound quality but the weight saving is phenomenal ie twin 18 drivers etc
I play SX, Agile, and Douglas guitars, sold by Rondomusic and made in South Korea. Build quality is good, they're great modding platforms, and they're better than all but one of the Ibanez I own.
I have one in the blue and green color with black hardware. Best under $500? Try $300. Guitar Center often puts these on sale and mine was $279. I’m no beginner but the neck felt so good I grabbed it. I added CTS pots and a Switchcraft style toggle and it is just great.
Learn slide guitar. Samantha Fish and others can play slide on a guitar neck bolted onto an oil can or cigar box. That's how forgiving slide is. Yes, slide can be used in metal. Side even works with old strings for you even cheaper players. I am mentioning this to say that any guitar can be salvageable so if you break off the head stock, have a warp in the neck, there are dead spots and frets are missing or worn you can still play slide on it,
Nicely done, Glenn! Keep doin' what you're doin' with your practice - it's working. Also, I've always enjoyed playing Schecter guitars. I LOVE the diamond series bass that I have, and even recently bought a used, budget C-6 guitar and very much enjoyed plaing it. It needs just a little bit of fret filing, but it's a 2012 model and some wood shrinkage is to be expected.
Hey Glenn, love the channel. It's a great resource for education and reviews . Just started playing again about a year and a half ago after 20 years away and loving it. A couple of months back I got an Edwards Alexi pink sawtooth from Japan and its just silly good. Service was excellent too (Kurosawa Music). Just wondering what you think about these Japanese market brands? Keep up the good work and the good humor!
Hell yes! When I decided to start seriously learning guitar, I picked up a Diamond C-6 instead of dropping serious money on a Gibson or Fender for my first guitar (despite the advice of my "real guitarist" friends), and never looked back. It felt great, played... okay (though that says more about my lack of ability at the time than the guitar itself), and I couldn't pass up the price. Since then, Schecter has become my preferred guitar maker, short of going out and getting a custom built. Love the channel. Thanks for the great content and info, and fuck you, Glenn.
15:43 $399! That thing sounds like it's worth $99. 🙄 What is that thing made out of? Balsa wood? Good job Glen. All you gotta do. Is swap out the entire body of the guitar. For some tone wood. Maybe then it won't sound like you're gurgling 10 amp electric metal balls. Real smart, jerky!
Glenn can we get a review of a budget Gretsch? They only have couple solid body models under 500 bucks but they've all felt really good and sounded pleasant. People seem to forget Malcom Young got some pretty aggressive sounds out of a Gretsch Jet.
I’ve got a semihollow streamliner and it’s my new favourite guitar. I managed to get mine used for $100, but they’re well under $500 new. I’m using it for Doom/psychedelic metal (not much palm muting) - but still super high gain, and still got metal in the name! As a plus it’s got the best clean tone of any of my guitars. And as a double plus (for me, anyway) you can get amazing usable feedback very easily with it, it being a hollow body and all.
@@godofspacetime333 i have the streamliner jet with two broadtron pickups and I've had a similar experience. It is the most versatile guitar I've owned, high gain or clean it just sounds incredible and for the price point I've never played a more premium feeling guitar. We need more metal players picking these guitars up.
Just a thought, you should try an American made Schecter and see if even they suck at pricing their American products. Looks like they are retailing for 2-5k or so.
I once tried out an 8-string Schecter bass and it was simply STUNNING! It came at a price of around 600 euros and believe me it was worth every cent! I didn't have a musical project that justified me buying it, at the time, but since then I soooooo regretted making that "responsible and mature decision" of leaving that axe in the store! 😭🤦🏻♂
Sounds great. I love both of my Schecter guitars: a 7-string Hellraiser FR S and my Hellraiser Hybrid FR S. Granted, both are more on the spendy side, but they’re great to play and the fit & finish are second to none. I think they offer a lot at what ever price point one is looking at…especially hard tails. (I tend to steer clear of less expensive guitars with Floyd Rose type terms. Not a fan of the Specials.) FWIW, they’re part of my collection of 45 guitars…everything from sub $500 to $3000+. My next bass will probably be a Schecter. Very easy to recommend that brand.
Hey Glenn, checkout the Godin Session HT"Pro". They have multiple Session models but the "HT Pro" is setup for heavy rock/metal. The regular HT(non pro) doesn't have Seymour Duncan pickups FYI You can likely rent one from Long and McQuade for $30 lol 😆 Made in canada comes loaded with seymour duncan pickups (59, lace golds) for $1000 USD or $1350 CDN. Fit and finish is premium IMO(PRS quality)
Hey Glen, try out a new Firefly guitar, I think you’ll be impressed on ball end stainless frets, locking tuners ,Canadian roasted neck and more for $169.91 US! I my fifth semi hollow strat style ebony with gold hardware and I think it’s a Bigsby tremelo. The burst sold out the first day!
Honestly, I have that Schecter, and even though I've been going to my local guitar store every couple of days, I haven't found a neck I like better. Got mine used with an orange amp for waaay too cheap. Oh! Also, Henning did a review of this guitar... It was the first one I watched when I was looking at it!
I think you just explained the big problem with the world today even! I have an Ibanez gio and it blows all of my American made guitars out of the water at a third of the cost. Thank you for all of your informative and kick ass videos Glenn!
That’s ironic I had a gio and it was the worst playing guitars I’ve bought.and that’s why someone else opinion about a guitar means absolutely nothing to me,or any other guitar gear, especially amps
New subscriber here, thank you for doing a review of this axe. I am in the market for a Hellraiser non-FR model, as my chance to own one years ago slipped through my fingers. If you have done a review of that guitar, I would love to see it, as I am looking forward to grabbing one ASAP. Thanks for your humorous takes, and fuck off! LOL!!!
I have a request, I'd love to get your take on the Squire Contemporary Telecaster. I got one of them and it feels really good to play and the sound coming out of the thing is heavenly. If you told me this was some $2000 guitar I'd believe you, but it's less than $500. I want to run around telling everybody that they need to try this thing. I'm gonna satisfy myself by telling you. Thanks.
Would be awesome to see you do a comparison between one of these guitars and an SGR. I work at a shop that sells both and I notice the SGRs sound slightly muddy (obviously I can’t fully A-B them). Still great quality and for $349CAD the SGRs are wicked and come in wicked styles…way cooler then beginner guitars when I was a kid 🤘
I disagree on the switch. Maybe having a little recessed area like the Demon would help some for your style of plaything. I love 3 way toggles in that exact location and can hardly ever find them for 7 strings with evertune bridges at a decent price generally speaking. I play with the guitar on my right leg and I play right handed with the neck horizontal. Plus I plant my pinky a lot, so being able to flick the switch at that spot is why I like it. Great review as usual though. I love my LTD-MH1001, and the the 2 gripes I have with it #2 is the blade. My #1 gripe is that I can't stand inline head stocks not being made with enough room to adjust the tuners when the bulbous ends line up. It's enough room for a tool and no more, which isn't practical for fine tuning. That's personally why I like 3x3 or 4x3 type head stocks, so when fine tuning my fingers can grip and not bump any other pegs, or having to grab them like my fingers are tongs.
I bought a Kawai KS12 in the early 80's and it wasn't new then so that makes it about 45 years old. It was an amazing guitar at the time and still holds its own against anything today. America failed to pay attention but as Don McLean sang "they did not listen, they're not listening still. Perhaps they never will."
After not playing for 10 years because of my pacemaker and magnets I finally just got a Schecter a month ago. I bought it used. Plays perfectly. See my recent guitar cover vids. I will be posting many more also. I just got a Joyo Pream House and Cab box to record direct with. They sound awesome. I can dial in better tones than most of the youtube videos on it. Tonight's video I will be using an even meaner tone and kicking in a tubescreamer for the lead.
For another 100 bucks you could get the Schecter Omen Extreme 6 which is a fantastic axe for the price. I use mine for gigs all the time because its so versatile and beautiful.
Can you do a comparison between this guitar, some lower end Harley Bentons (I’m looking at the R-446), and a higher end Harley Benton like the Amarok-6? The Amarok-6 has EMG pickups and may account for the extra cost, and if there’s one thing I’ve learned here it’s that pickups don’t matter very much for your tone. Im looking to get a new hardtail 6 string soon, and if a R-446 sounds and feels as good as the more expensive instruments it would be a shame to pass it up.
You know when you hear a new album that makes you put on an old classic instead, thats what Shecter is to me. Great guitars that makes me want to play my ESPs.

@@tommilitello198 “they’ve had over 100 years to change that” and they haven’t. So what’s your point?? We can actively watch how companies pursue record profits to appease share holders while the workers earning said profits get nothing. It’s most obvious with companies like Walmart and Amazon who hire the bare minimum amount of employees to be functional, works them to the bone, and pay them nothing. So we can totally blame share holder intervention as to why workers aren’t being properly compensated
I got a black cherry Omen 6 fr extreme ! A few months ago, Big bang for low bucks 👍
Glenn! There’s a US based guitar manufacturer (California to be exact) - Viper Guitars. Their in-stock guitars start about $1,400ish. May be worth a look
Hey 11:05 try an accelerating metronome… work past tempo playing and then slow it back down it will be squeaky clean..
One I use on iOS and android is frozen ape advance tempo…
It helps with polyrhythms as well
I’ve been playing a schecter hellraiser 6 string for about 15 years.. it was maybe $600-$700 when I bought it I think? I love that thing.
Great video Glenn!!! Love your channel and everything you do, very educational and entertaining!! Been watching your channel for a long time. Keep up the great work. Always gets me to practice more after watching your vids!!!
Yes, I wish the guitar manufactures would move the controls away from the bridge so many nice guitars I’ve tried and would not buy because the controls are too close. I’ll never understand why.
nice , i had surgery today and a good ole shouty video by glenn is sure to cheeer me up
I got a deal on a Schecter E-1 built at World Music in Korea that is mahogany and ebony... and lefty and its incredible....i didnt even want short scale but its now my main player 😂 wanted a lefty Explorer for almost 20 years and Schecter came through
I got a Harley Benton dullahan with upgraded pickups.. spot on.. frets are fine. Hardware fine breathable matte finish.. Maple neck that rivals carvin I had built . Alder body that heavy ...
My guy ranting early in the morning.
Well, this is how I wanna start my day.
This is how I end my day.
Thanks to you both!
This is my day
LOL that's what glenn should change his Stage Name to.
"Guy Ranting"
😂😂😂😂😂‼️
Nice video. My niece and nephew would love this guitar.
I have a used Schecter Hellraiser. Best one I've ever owned, although I have never owned anything more than 800 quids.
But what if I don't want a boring Strat shape? Do they have anything affordable in V or Explorer shapes?
From what I've seen from this brand it appears that you get something quality. 😊
I had the 7 string version as my first 7 string! It was really damn good and this was back in 2018.
I haved definitely moved on but I'll always recommend this model :)
Loved that you played Machine of Torment on that guitar Glenn! 🤘
What a beautiful clean demo. That’s exactly what’s going on.
I bought schecter demon active pickups with nice case used for 300 it's one of my fave go to metal guitar
I do question the longevity/parts/quality of very inexpensive guitars. How long before a knob, switch...whatever breaks?
Schecter guitar's got my vote for the price and WOW got a beautiful finish..
Hi Glenn a friend of mine uses neo magnet drivers in his pa with No reduction in sound quality but the weight saving is phenomenal ie twin 18 drivers etc
I have this same guitar in flat white. Love it!
I added CTS pots and a Switchcraft style toggle and it is just great.
clean guitar ... hell yeah, that's when I immediately click the thumbs up button ;)
never underestimate a great clean guitar tone
Could you talk about the high end on a mix ?? No one is talking about it.. cymbals, hi hats, guitars and "air".. i think its very important on a mix!
Learn slide guitar. Samantha Fish and others can play slide on a guitar neck bolted onto an oil can or cigar box. That's how forgiving slide is. Yes, slide can be used in metal. Side even works with old strings for you even cheaper players. I am mentioning this to say that any guitar can be salvageable so if you break off the head stock, have a warp in the neck, there are dead spots and frets are missing or worn you can still play slide on it,
I really appreciated that you did that clean bit!
I bought a schecter omen elite. Thing is amazing....sounds great and the action is great ! All around great guitar. Glad I bought it.
I raised the bridge pickup and it brought it to life, I never use the neck pickup because I hate it.
Always an astonishing channel.
The regular HT(non pro) doesn't have Seymour Duncan pickups FYI
You can likely rent one from Long and McQuade for $30 lol 😆
Made in canada comes loaded with seymour duncan pickups (59, lace golds) for $1000 USD or $1350 CDN.
Glenn, great playing. Seriously. Keep it up!
Could you do an entry level metal rig vs amp sim shoot out for 2024? Which would be better for recording and live shows
I hate when they put the pickup switch too close. Ibanez does it too, my favorite guitar and i can barely use the neck pickup
I’m playing that song tonight in my band
New subscriber here, thank you for doing a review of this axe. I am in the market for a Hellraiser non-FR model, as my chance to own one years ago slipped through my fingers. If you have done a review of that guitar, I would love to see it, as I am looking forward to grabbing one ASAP. Thanks for your humorous takes, and fuck off! LOL!!!
I've never tried a Schecter, I'm really, really tempted now. I'm in the market for a heavy, Tele style guitar that doesn't cost stupid Gibson money.
Speaking of Mojotone, i have that speaker paired with a heritage Greenback in my harley benton cab and it sounds great.
Thanks.
Hi Glenn! Nice clean sound, but better to play with metronome.. will be better results. Nice review.
I’ve got an idea for a future video. Demoing the guitar ola sends you when you perfect the cfh outro solo. 🤘
I grabbed my 1st Schecter recently. Crimson red Demon 6, with active pickups. I love it. Its sexy and sounds great. Good value.
And if want that same guitar (it's actually built by Cort) for even cheaper get the Cort KX100.
Can always take the tone knob out and move the pick up switch to there.
I love my schecter. I got the Demon 6 and still had enough money to get an nice amp with it too.
I'm more of an acoustic player but I have a Schecter 12-string that I LOVE!!
However it WAS about a grand almost 10yrs ago.
So what is the model after all?
I've been looking @ Schecter. And why do they love to put the pickup switch so close to the bridge?
For another 100 bucks you could get the Schecter Omen Extreme 6 which is a fantastic axe for the price. I use mine for gigs all the time because its so versatile and beautiful.
My Schecter Solo comes today! 🎉
I Love all my Shecters......2004.ultra iii, and a C1 Classic..
