      You think thats bad, imagine being a Filipino basketball fan. Thats true pain...
      Edit: heres the reason why:
      Tldr: Despite being super obssesed with Basketball, we have never produced a local NBA player, routinely underachieve in international basketball to the point we havent touched the Olympics since the early 70s where wo would get crushed by milk men due to how horrible local development is.
      I wish I added more context in my original comment but Filipinos are mega super religiously obssesed with this sport, yet despite this we have never produced a SINGLE LOCAL NBA player thats FULLY ASIAN or even mixed (Which is why Clarkson and Jalen Green don't count because they are American born and raised and hell arent even 1/2 Filipino). Our team routinely underperforms in the international stage mainly due to our lack of talent, genetics, and horribly outdated coaching (the amount of times I have to hear stories about foreign coachers arguing with local coaches is maddening).
      For fucks sakes our greatest achievements so far mostly involves losing one decent game against Serbia and beating South Korea after they whooped our ass for a decade. Then theres all the bans and fight against Australia.
      Our local big league which is still basing their teams on corporations instead of cities or provinces (Imagine calling the Los Angeles Lakers the McDonalds Lakers) is shockingly outdated and corrupt. The biggest team rivalry isnt just between basketball teams nonono its between 2 corporations: the San Miguel Corporation and the Manny Pangalinan Group, and the each own 3 teams in the PBA, 3! So its no surprise that most of the teams in the PBA are essentially just farms for a bigger team owned by either corp. Then theres that stupid rule where playets have to play in the local g league before they get drafted to the PBA, which is why most rookies tend to be in their mid to late 20s. Then theres the fact that PBA teams have started to give up on local talents and are just relying on foreign mixed players, adding further strain on local development. Its so bad that local players are having a exodus and are now playing limited minutes in Japan and South Korea.
      All of this underachieving basically make us the laughingstock of international basketball, where we get roasted constantly, first for our basketball identity, then our heights, genetics, and dick sizes, then just being a third world south east asian country before hearing the same old story about how they fucked this Filipina chick once, its exhausting.
      Imagine Brazil's obssesion with Soccer but the underachieving of Indonesia. I guess thats what we get when a country thats not known for being tall picks a sport thats so dependent on good height and explosive genetics huh...
      Its not going to get better, we all know how much we love to shit on China's basketball with the all "get ready to speak Chinese" shit so imagine that but worse.

    Ever since they traded Chauncey and acquired Iverson, up to the time they signed Ben Gordon, The pistons lost their culture. Sure they said they'll change it as time went on, back in 2012 I think, but no one is buying in, especially if the front office doesn't know what they're doing. The franchise is built on a foundation of defense, from the Bad boys to the 04 champs, not a shred of effort attempting to rebuilding that defensive culture foundation is being put out. Only Duren, Thompson, Ivey, and Cunningham can fit that mold with this roster, the rest? questionable. Not even sure if Monty is really a great coach, his resume includes all time great players. Bring back that defensive culture, the culture the city buys in.

      Honestly think the Spurs are even worse. It's clockwork. Spurs get out to a nice start then Victor gets subbed out at around the 6 minute mark, Zach Collins comes in, and the Spurs blow their lead in a couple of minutes. Victor comes back and steadies the ship in the second and it's a close game at the half, a couple of points either direction. Third quarter starts and other team is on fire but the Spurs are still keeping the game within 6 or 7 points. 6 minute mark Victor gets subbed out and 2-3 minutes later all of a sudden it's a 20 point game, game over. They get wrecked nearly every third quarter.

    Everything you said is valid and accurate but for me, most of the blame falls on Monty. They were never going to be a good team this season, but to only win 2 games and be on the longest losing streak in history... it's disgraceful. Monty Williams has no idea what he's doing. He's giving minutes to all the wrong players, and putting his faith in guys who are clearly detriments to the team over guys who can actually help. Guys going from not seeing the floor to playing 20+ minutes, t's impossible to be consistent or good with such inconsistent minutes.

    • @breezeofnoon
      @breezeofnoon 5 месяцев назад

      curious, but would u like to share which players in the pistons team he shld give the minutes to instead who u think can actually help? i mean they have joe harris n alec burks who by right can stretch the floor, but they are like shooting at 29 n 32%

    • @ant4613
      @ant4613 5 месяцев назад

      @@breezeofnoon When I say they were never going to be a good team, I mean their roster construction is absolute garbage. They're overloaded at two key positions, PG and C, and like Andy mentioned, no one has a defined role. Marcus Sasser showed a lot of promise to start the season, he's just a rookie so he's going to be spotty but his play when he was actually getting minutes was so much better than their current guard play. Monty has favoured Killian Hayes for the majority of the season though, over Ivey and Sasser, only recently has Hayes' minutes been cut. Hayes is terrible. It seems like he's just throwing shit at the wall to see what'll stick. Kevin Knox is getting a lot of minutes right now, he went from DNP, to 9 minutes, to DNP, to DNP, to 24 minutes. He plays/has played guys like Alec Burks and Isaiah Livers for significant minutes who are horrendous detriments to the team based on their play time and time again. A good coach would develop some sort of a system and find a role for his players. It just seems like he has no idea what he's doing at all. Lots of players started the season off poorly (for their standards) but have since picked it up. LaMelo Ball before he got injured, Trae Young, Julius Randle, Austin Reaves... random examples off the top of my head. I'm not here to tell you Joe Harris can solve all of their problems, but to pretty much give up on him entirely when two of their biggest issues are spacing and shooting... it just doesn't make sense. Teams like the Pacers have an identity. Their going to kill you on offense, and you're probably going to score on the next possession. They've heavily favoured a high pace, guns blazing style of play where they're just gonna kill you so badly on offense that their horrible defense won't matter. Joe Harris fits that role, I'm not really a big fan of his and never was, but my point is at least establish some sort of identity or plan. We're going to try and fix this issue and that issue. His allocation of minutes only demonstrates to me that he has no idea what he's doing at all. Just go look at nearly every player's minutes this season and how inconsistent they are. DNP to 20+ minutes, to stretches of playing 15+ minutes, to suddenly playing less than 10 or DNP. Those DNPs are not injuries either (for the most part), they are just not playing because Monty is deciding not to play them. To some degree, I understand the throwing stuff at the wall to see what'll stick approach when you can't find a win to save your life, but at least establish a role for your players and an identity for your team before you do that. Can anyone honestly identity what his strategy or gameplan is going into games? Because I can't at all and you can with nearly every other team in the league. 8:47 - 9:02 pretty much sums it up perfectly. Forgot to talk about him playing Ausar Thompson less as well lately but this is already too long of a comment so forget it lol. You get the point.

    @JPDoomBlue 5 месяцев назад +3

    I think the biggest problem the pistons had is lack of confidence, being too passive on the offensive end and the defensive ends and being competitive on a young team. They had all cards in with the veterans especially Bojan who has been a big stud for the team. They should get rid of Joe Harris and Burks as they both had the worst season in their career. they drafted very good prospects in Ivey, Duren and Ausar Thompson but their weakenesses is shooting respectively for those recent prospects. Lack of shooting, bad plays, turnovers, defense and rebound are the biggest problems for the team. It's time that before the deadline they should make some moves that will hopefully turn around for the team. It will be tough for them to lose more games and if they are able to make a good trade deadline we can see them turn around. The previous trades we saw from the pistons are good and bad at the same time like for an example trading Drummond for basically nothing, Losing Griffin due to buyout.

    If Carmelo was drafted by the Pistons in the '03 draft class, Detroit would've been an nba Dynasty. While the Wallaces and Tayshaun Prince take care of defense, Carmelo would do most of the scoring with Billups being the facilitator. 3 nba title as a result

    Monty Williams might be well-liked and calm under pressure, but his reputation was highly inflated after he coached the Suns, a team that had a ton of talent. Without players of that caliber, his coaching abilities have gotten exposed. I'm curious if the Pistons fire him in spite of his contract, because most coaches would be toast as a result of a record like this. But after years of existing at the bottom of the NBA, it's clear their front office doesn't know what they're doing.

  • @homerthompson416

    They'll beat the Spurs in 11 days. I still can't believe the Spurs let Portland's G-League team (with Simons, Sharpe, Ayton all out) drop 71 points in the first half last night with Victor being rested the second night of the B2B. This Spurs team is so obscenely bad but it's being hidden by Wemby being able to singlehandedly carry them to the occasional win. But almost everyone on the team is terrible defensively. Malaki Branham's a starter and lets his man shoot 57%. Keldon Johnson gives up almost 52% shooting to whoever he's guarding. Jeremy Sochan is supposed to be the defensive minded jack of all trades that Ausar Thompson actually is and he's allowing 50% shooting against. Bottom 20-30% in the league from a guy who wears Rodman's number FFS. I wish someone would talk about how piss poor the Spurs are defensively, because Pop needs to be in the hot seat. The defense he is running is insane. There is so much helping leading to wide open threes by the other team constantly. Everyone shoots lights out against them and you have to think this is Pop's design because he never benches anyone for leaving their man wide open at the three point line.

    On December 28, 2023 The Neo Bad Boys took one of the best teams in the league in the Celtics to overtime, only falling short 128-122 after key player foul-outs and lack of response to a Celtic run.
    Barring excuses, any true Piston fan can see a team struggling not from a lack of determination , but a myriad of setbacks from injuries to simple quality of players within coach Monty's system.
    The Pistons organization have clearly showcased a team in the middle of a rebuild project while showing little to no sign of improvement over the first phases , which may upset the majority of fans lead to consider the turnaround to be sooner.
