I just wish you showed the entire cables you used so I see the proper cable to use at the appropriate Time. ..I had no idea that this process regarding the Cable was necessary.
Almost all of them are upgrade-able, so no matter which one you have you should follow this procedure. Only the very old ones ( 20 years plus ) are not upgrade-able.
Another excellent video from you. Few questions: A. Does the GTMxx number provide any hint as to what geographical area it includes a traffic subscription to? My ancient TA20 cable seems to have a bad power connection and I am looking for a replacement that supports HD Traffic (I shall use it on a 2595LMT) B. The dash mat in your video seems to be a different and more compact model than my wider and heavy bean-bag Nav-Mat friction dash mount...which also ran into extra scrutiny from TSA when I traveled with it! Any tips/links on how to find the mat model you are using? Thank you.
Thanks for the compliments. The coverage map for GTM60 is available on Garmin's website, and you can purchase coverage for other countries in Europe or Australia. However it will not cover any South American, African or Asian countries. The mat that I am using is this one www.ebay.com/itm/305647410831

Yes, it should work there because even if your GPS has the smallest map coverage Garmin offers, it will cover all 48 states in the United States. To confirm you can click on settings, then my maps, and see the coverage.

Hi, I'm struggling with this one, but I think I need it. Both satnavs 1300 + 1310 and both GTM25 leads dtopped giving traffic info at the same time (about). Your post isn't that old at 1 year, so I'm guessing both are ok (we cross tested) and something changed in our updates, or traffic provider. I don't have all the options that are listed (both UK set-ups). I used Express for years and didn't remember Updater was there before that. I only have language and a text listed in the updates... no Traffic Firmware types at all. Any suggestions? Help? Tips?

Hi, thanks for your prompt response. I had a dig into the system menu, in places I don't recall going before - probably never needed to. Then sat in the car and tested them.
Both systems are 'Lifetime' UK subscriptions, and across Europe, both searched for a service and arrived at Trafficmaster UK. I added a destination, but no indicators came up. I will have a tour tomorrow and re-test.
However I beleive I discovered; because there is change-over from FM to DAB, because no-one in the UK is funding these 'old' technologies, and because we are no longer mandated by EU law to maintain them, unless I am mistaken (please someone let me know) the FM signals to these and many vehicle built-in systems have been turned off.
End of Traffic updates in UK. I hear you can pick up the French service along our south coast! It is a long way from a loaf of bread - even if they are good!

@@anthonygarton5699@anthonygarton5699 I can't bring myself to believe that a modern country like England would stop its traffic data transmission. Also, we sell a lot of the Garmin GTM60 cables that go to the United Kingdom, and nobody complained about not receiving traffic data. I chatted online with Garmin help and they confirmed it is discontinued.
"Traffic master is discontinued, this has been discontinued for a few years now so on our older devices they will stop getting traffic updates sadly.
We can only advise on upgrading your satnav to a newer model that does not need traffic master and instead uses our phone applications for more accurate traffic data
[in Europe] There would be a different traffic provider but the coverage for this would be limited. Sadly on the older units they are not getting any further updates or features regarding traffic."

Thant means that your GPS already has the latest firmware update.
Does the cable you plug into the unit at 2:40 come with the Garmin?
It is included with some models of Garmin but not with all of the. However it is a standard USB cable which you can buy from eBay for a couple of dollars. Here is an example www.ebay.com/itm/123811719307

This is amazing content. Liked and subbed. I found this video because my Nuvi 2595 stopped receiving traffic altogether. It keeps saying it is searching for traffic providers anywhere I go. So google sent me here during a search. If I update the firmware as you show do you think it will cure this problem? Also the battery is nearly kaput. Should I replace the battery first or is it OK to just power the GPS in the car with the cable?

There is a good chance that after the firmware update your traffic reception issue will be resolved. About the battery, you don't necessarily have to change the battery. However, it's better if you did because, after 5 years, they start swelling which could cause additional damage inside the GPS.
What about the Garmin for Seat models?

I have a big issue though.
My trafic reception with my GT36 cable stopped working since I updated my Drive 51 LMT-S GPS using Garmin Express.
It works very well with the Smartlink app provided by Garmin (and using my datas on my Iphone), but not with the cable.
The cable is well detected by the GPS though.
I had hope with your brilliant solution, but unfortunately, no trafic or any other FM options show up for my GPS when I load Garmin Webupdater. 😞
I wrote to the technical service of Garmin explaining the issue I have since I updated my GPS with their Garmin Express, and they apparently never heard about such an issue. They just offer me to... buy a new cable !!
Do you know by chance if It is possible then to do a Hard Reset of the GPS and go back to the factory presets or previous firmware ? Or something else...

No problem, so to bring back that you click on the wrench icon at the bottom right corner, then on the gear icon then check all the boxes of items that you want to be visible on the map screen.

You put out some good Garmin videos that have helped me... both this one and the battery replacement one. To name two. I do have a question I've not found the answer to yet though anywhere. I've 2 Garmin 255w's that I picked up used, and both now have the newest software for them (7.8) per both Garmin Express and Garmin Web Update. However, When going into their about screens, while they report 7.8 for the software version, the one reports GPS SW Version 2.00m and the other reports GPS SW Version 4.10b. How do I get them updated to the newest GPS SW Version? Or is that non-user upgradable?
Thanks I am glad to know that my videos are helpful. About your question make sure all the boxes are checked for additional updates, and let the GPS process the updates by restarting a couple of times. Also I wanted to let you know that GPS position data is updated not through the computer connection, but through the GPS signals. So what you need to do is let the GPS set outside under a clear sky view for about 30 minutes and it will automatically update the Satellite position data to the current position.
Hellow... I have GPS garmin 2577. I don't know what happened with it.. sometimes the screen is working well but another time the screen is not working when i touch it. Hello, when the screen touch response is interment you need to replace the digitizer. The digitizer is not the actually LCD Screen itself but a layer of glass and film in front of the screen. When the GPS turns OFF without external power it means you need to change the battery as well. Both these parts can be purchased reasonably chap on eBay.

I have a nuvi 2595LM Garmin. I have an issue with it. When I plug my garmin to my computer, the GPS lights up for 5 seconds then shut itself down why???? Helpppppp?
