  • Making its debut trip and introduction is the all new 2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4xe Trailhawk edition. This SUV is a PHEV making for a perfect compliment of my needs for a daily work commuter and weekend warrior. While this episode will not dive into the specific reasonings and features of the new vehicle, I simply wanted to showcase the Jeep on a weekend trip where David (@OffTheGrind) and I headed out exploring parts of Central Washington.

    The move from the Tacoma to a Grand Cherokee certainly goes against the grain of so much of what we see on RUclips, but I think it's cool that you assessed your personal needs and transitioned into something that works for you. Looking forward to future content and what I'm assuming will be some tasteful mods to the Trailhawk :)

      Thank you very much for the positive feedback, sincerely means a lot! At the end of the day you have to decide what works best for you and your specific needs associated with that lifestyle, the Jeep compliments just that. The choice had nothing to do with one brand over another but more so the boxes checked to suit the Mon. - Fri. and weekend warrior type travel. Can't wait to get out on the next trip and dive deeper in some of the features of the Jeep!
      Cheers 🍻🤘

    Nice to see you back in our stomping grounds. Really enjoy the laid back nature of your channel. The JGC is an interesting choice - having run a 1994 & 2006 all over CO & UT, I have always enjoyed seeing your Mom's out with you. I see you went with a similar color scheme. Honestly, these OEM+ builds are great to see. The reality is that you don't need a built rig to do 98% of what's out there. I drove my 2002 R50 largely stock for decades & all over the SW & West. It's now highly modified but I actually ended up buying another for a job in Southern OR and it was refreshing over the last year and a half to remind myself of how much I could do with just a good suspension, tires and patience.

    I have a 2022 Grand Cherokee L Overland and I love it. The air suspension is great but if you put too much stuff in the vehicle and it gets to heavy, it won't go all the way up to Off Road 2. I'll be interested to hear if you run into this on the slightly smaller and lighter Trailhawk.

    • @ConquestOverland
      @ConquestOverland  8 месяцев назад

      Right on! That's awesome to hear! So far the new Jeep has been working fantastic with over 6 month of use and plenty of cargo being loaded up in it. I do noticed the ride is much stiffer at the higher air suspension level of Off Road 2 so I use it sparingly to only clear certain obstacles but for what I do normal and Off Road 1 is plenty for my use, I'm not rock crawling in this thing... 😆 😉

      Honestly not too many, I'm very happy with how it currently is. New tires down the road but otherwise I have everything I need. For this trip I did not disconnect the swaybar, though I certainly plan to see how that'll work later on and future trips.

  • @I275westflorida

    The Jeep with some proper all terrains will be a great rig. With a shorter wheelbase it will do better better than a pickup would on certain obstacles. I did this same exact trail in January which was cool but I did have snow and ice. I couldn't do the steep section you did for example, and had to drive the higher easy route. Did you drive the trail and exit out the north side? I had to turn around (snow and ice) and was wondering if its worth exiting on the north side for the next time I'd do this trail as we get nicer weather.

    • @ConquestOverland
      @ConquestOverland  Год назад +1

      For sure, getting some better suited ATs will certainly help. I'd like to use the stock ones for a little longer and get a fair balance or review video lined up down the road but we'll see.
      We did exit through the north section, there was a decent amount of snow though we were able to get through with little issues. I'd expect in the coming weeks the majority of the snow will be melted. Have fun out there and safe travels!

    • @ConquestOverland
      @ConquestOverland  9 месяцев назад +1

      Running the Thule WingBar Evo crossbars. They have a T-Channel on the top of the bars so I'm currently now running an awning using that mounting system. My only wish was these bars be a little bit more lower profile, unfortunately the mounting feet that adheres to the factory flush rails is a bit taller than I'd like leaving a several inch gap from the vehicle roof to the bottom of the tent. Hopefully more manufacturers catch on and create new racks for this platform!

    Since you have been able to get it out off road I have been very weary of how they would flex in those situations, being the air suspension. In your opinion how does it compare to how your Toyota did?

    • @ConquestOverland
      @ConquestOverland  Год назад

      Certainly a reasonable question of being weary! In full transparency the air suspension is nothing like the aftermarket Old Man Emu BP-51s from the Tacoma. The ride in the Jeep is a little more "bouncy" and certainly not as much flex, that comes with the territory of it being air filled as opposed to the alternative.
      At the end of the day it gets several jobs done for me that a true lift was unable to with the ability of : adjusting the ride height at any given moment on the trail/ road (nearly 11" of clearance or lowered down for better aerodynamics), fitting in a garage with an RTT, little to no maintenance, and personally for me it's quiet unlike the leaf springs on the Tacoma hahaha. I have zero plans to rock crawl the Jeep so I simply found something that works for me vs. what I "felt was needed" for the type of travel I personally do.

    • @Jasoneffrig
      @Jasoneffrig Год назад

    I watched both David’s and your videos. You went the same places and basically took the same shots, but your’s was way way better (sorry Off the Grid). If you wanted a hybrid, I was wondering why you didn’t wait for the new Tacoma or 4Runner?

    • @ConquestOverland
      @ConquestOverland  Год назад

      I appreciate the support, thank you! I don't always see our collab trips as "who did it better" but more so showcasing how the very same trip can be told in different ways with unique perspectives. This was my first return video after 3 months off so had a little bit of catching up to do... haha.
      I personally just didn't want to wait for the new release of the Tacoma or 4Runner, while I'm sure they will be incredible, they still didn't check all the boxes for me personally that this Jeep did. My goal is little to no aftermarket on the Jeep so having something capable (to my specific needs) out of the box is exactly what I was looking for. One example is the air lift suspension, for me that is one less purchase of needing a whole new suspension kit like I would with the alternative...
      Thanks again!

    Sorry Michael, Off the grind got you good in his video. I guess the game has begun, lol. I love the new jeep and it seems to suit you lifestyle better. Don't forget to do a review when it's all broken in!

      Haha David indeed got me good but it's all part of the fun, don't worry his time will come soon enough for the returned favor 😉😆. Thank you though, absolutely loving the Jeep so far and once I have a few more trips in I'll definitely be doing a more details review and walk around of why and how things are working for my setup!

      Sold it and transitioned to the SUV. Choice has nothing to do with brands but more so what checked the right boxes with my current lifestyle and needs 😉👍
