- Join Jay in the latest episode of Irish Outlaw Garage as he continues reviving his vintage 1968 Pontiac Superior ambulance known as Artemus. With the Hot Rod Power Tour just around the corner from June 10 through June 14, 2024, the pressure is on to get this classic beauty fully road-ready and looking proper.
Jay tackles a myriad of challenges as he prepares Artemus for the ultimate test of endurance. From installing a new steering wheel and shift knob to swapping carburetors and looking over the ignition and fuel system, every task seems to present an extra hurdle.
A real shocker comes when Jay discovers the unexpected weight of the car-clocking in at a hefty 5,660 pounds with the driver! Undeterred, he presses on, determined to overcome every obstacle standing in the way of Artemus's successful Power Tour showing.
Jay faces yet another setback when the car refuses to run well. Through perseverance and ingenuity, and some choice language, he dials in Artemus so he purrs like a kitten once more.
But the challenges don't end there. Jay decides to go the extra mile by removing and replacing the engine to swap the oil pan gasket, adding another layer of complexity to this already daunting task.
Will Jay beat the clock and have Artemus ready for the Hot Rod Power Tour?
Subscribe and Tune-In to Irish Outlaw Garage to find out as Jay navigates through the ups and downs and gets not one car, but two cars on the Power Tour.

The Mooneyes steering wheel and shifter knob are the perfect upgrade. Thanks for the video. Always entertaining .
Love that shift knob it is better than I expected. The clear with Artemus and the skeleton is perfect.
I absolutely love that car!!!!
Always something its a pain but the rewards of driving it is so worth it!
Had to laugh after that gunshot when the dogs decided to go inside!
I’m just guessing that they’ve heard a few shots before.
That car would look killer with a satin black paintjob and those polished wheels (i have a set of 20” halibrands that are very similar to those on my ‘73 c10 and i love them) along with all that factory chrome/bright work….either way it is definitley different…..a vortech centrifugal supercharger or a turbo if you handy with the welder would really wake up that old blue motor, and sound cool doin it too!!!
Awesome video JAY. Thanks for sharing. Keep the content coming. Hope you have an incredible weekend. Much love and RESPECT
Motor sounds really good, all the hard work n fussin is paying off.
Yeah timing first 95% of problems revolves around timing then fuel problems in my opinion hard to beat old school Carter cab and single opening intake anyways you’ll get it lined out 😊
Roflmfao!!!!! My wife heard you yelling at the dogs and working on the car. She asked me, " Jesus is that your twin"??? Roflmfao
It happens the entire time. I just don't leave it in the vids. LOL
@@IrishOutlawGarage Roflmfao!!!!
Motor sounds good!
Thanks!
Thanks for the video!!
You bet!
Nice job……sucks you had to pull that motor again but hey……..thats wrenchin and it comes with the terrotory
luck of the Irish, hope your jaw heals up fast bud, I remember when I had ALL mine yanked. not fun
Man Jay, so much for the luck of the Irish. You jack with a leprechaun lately, and he is returning the favor? Feel for you bother. @JAAG1960
Maybe you should look into a Holley mechanical fuel pump , ran one on my Olds442 for 15 years without a single issue, worth it
I've looked into them. I've had one of them go bad also on my 455 cutlass.
@@IrishOutlawGarage rebuildable tho
I didn't want to say anything but I've never had any luck with the elderbrock carburetor I've had him sail right out of the box
I've had great luck but sometimes an engine just says " nope!" Lol
Put a better rear end in her will help with heavy car sir I’ve been there put lil bigger tire on ass end to hear her up if gear is too low when you replace quick performance are great folks to deal with
I can't afford Quick Performance. Nice people though. I found that Artemus has 1 leg 3.15 ish gear in him just today. Great cruiser gear.
I’m a month out for power tour and still have half an interior to put in and fix a efi stall issue
Might as well say I have a week. And 2 cars to finish. Lol
What part of Ireland are you from?
I've never heard an accent like yours anywhere over here.
By blood not by geography
Ah, so you're American then.

I should bring you my 148F for you. It's just sitting here and collecting dust and probably by now needs a good tune. I drive company trucks now and won't put it in there for morons to ruin.
I've never had one of those
@@IrishOutlawGarage Very old school Cobra 148 with a freq counter display.
Elbrock be better driving carb on your trip less issues
I dunno. Vaccum secondary Holley's do really well. I like both. Nothing better than an OLD Holley though. OLD, is the key.
Yeah had my smart ass teeth aka wisdom teeth cut out hurt hurt but better teeth and back problems are the worst
