I have been a huge fan of Andreas Steding for several years. With Hansa Teutonica, Gugong, Staufer Dynasty, Firenze and the underappreciated Norenberc (though probably not underappreciated at 2 players), he really deserves more attention as a major board game designer. Thanks for the playthrough and thoughts!

The nuke token is definately powerful, but the road its on often it gets locked up right away with different players due to its deadliness. Usually in our games it takes some sacrifice to get it so it evens out.
Agreed about getting a third action. Getting a fourth and fifth action is only good if you can extend the game. As soon as an opponent gets the 4th or 5th you have to rush game end.
I got the better end of the deal. Thank you so much for playing a game with me. Not only a game but a great game. Hope to get maricabo when it becomes available.
After this time since you made the video Rahdo, which map do you think (or anyone else) is the best for 2 players? Base or Britannia? I know Its not best with two players, but thats our most common player count :)
like concordia, this game is definitely going to be better at 2 with the smallest board you can find :)

@@rahdo But isnt it a bit more complicated for new players of HT? Ive heard the base map is cleaner, simpler, kind of smoother gameplay... dont how much big of a factor is that, thats why I cant decide between these two maps (the Base 2-3p and Britannica 2-3p)
@@ManikTube12 in all honesty, even with the new rules, i wouldn't recommend HT as a 2p game. it's nice that there's a viable 2p option, but you should really own it to play with as many people as possible :)
My absolute favourite boardgame ever. It constantly evolves each time you play, has rules that are quite easy to remember, and you can really channel your 'intuitive' smarts without it having to be too AP. After each game the answer to how you could have scored better is never a dry 'efficiency' question - it's all about tactics and strategy. An oldie but goldy. It also has superb expansion maps and a couple of fun little mini expansion elements (one adds a small hidden scoring goal for each player and the other gives you bigger, costlier skills to develop on your tableau).
The kick out 3 cube/disc bonus tile was changed and niw means you can move up to 3 cube/disc tile!
I think the tokens are actually really useful. They give players a chance to clear away the roads near the action track etc, encouraging players to go elsewhere and not hog the best spots.

concordia, big time (especially with one of the smaller 2p centric maps, so probably concordia venus to start out)
Hey Rhado, do you think if you added a penalty for using the nuke token it would even it out? Something like you have to sacrifice a trader from your personal supply back to the general stock.

This is an absolutely amazing game. It totally relies on gameplay for its stellar reputation. The components are simple cubes, the tokens are ok, and the game board is bland. It’s a game that is simply great based on its design - and gets better with more players. Throw in the elegant gameplay - the game can be taught in 10 minutes - and this is one of the best games I’ve ever played. Only thing I would change is the theme - I saw a board created with planets in space and it was awesome. I didn’t even mention player interaction which is about as high as it gets. This game is easily a 10 for me!
Andreas Steding has been posting photos of a gangster/mafia theme version of Hansa Teutonica on his twitter. Seems like it is becoming a thing, possibly along with the big box verison that was announced.
