I have seen a video of what a family went through after a hurricane caused their pool to lift (it was not holding water when the barometric pressure changed).. Took them years and thousands of dollars to repair. Most pool installation companies wouldn't even touch it.. Your did great getting this cleaned up and ready for pump repairs and refilled. Can't wait to see the crane tree removal video.. Blessings to you and prayers for all who are so affected by this massive storm...

Hi Bobby, thank you for your videos. They have been an eye opener for me as I live in Gulf Harbors just north of Clearwater and Tarpon Springs. The house across the street from yours represent what my canal home would have looked like if the storm stayed on its original Tampa Bay area target.
Here's a hint to remove rust stains in the future when the pool is full. Ascorbic Acid and or Citric Acid is very effective and can be found in the cheapest Vitamin C tablets you can find. Just get a mask and dive down and rub the tablet on the rust. This may take several tablets to completely remove but I promise, its acid and it will work. Again, thank you sir for everything.

For someone that works on pools all the time I wouldn't do an LED bulb I would do a whole LED fixture the new LED fixtures do a lot of cool things like light shows and everything of bulb won't do that and I would set those lights in a bucket of water so the gaskets don't dry out

No, but I would consider using a spray sealant in the future
Does the pool acid get discharged into the canal along with the water from the pool?
Yes but diluted to a point it is not a hazard.
I'm glad you made this video....I watched your hurricane post and saw the dirty water. I thought omg there is a pool under there....I'm so glad you and your family and the pups are ok. Sorry you are dealing with this. I had a fire, I know crap. :(

Couldn't tell if that was muriatic acid you were using. I've used that stuff Many times to clean our old pool and that is one smell you Never forget! P U !!!! Great job!!

why wouldn't it be beneficial to empty your pool prior to a big storm, or maybe even emptying it 1/2 way down? and I'm assuming/asking if the screens/cage is under warranty?
What do you think will happen as soon as the flood water reaches beyond the pool lip? Plus the water table should be higher with the increased water height so the pool would have a better chance of popping out.

Most everything is stainless and aluminum. So no. And only 2 plants didn’t make it. Most everything is very salt tolerant.
Do you know if this works the same for fiberglass pools? I’m trying to help my dad on FMB

Thanks for this.... I am in St James City and my pool has about 3 inches of mud on the bottom. Everyone told me not to drain, you did. How did you find the drain plugs??? I have no clue what to do!

The only way that I can imagine that your equipment is bad is that you left the pool running while you had the flooding. Obviously other than a tree or equivalent falling on it.
It was under water. The pump needed to be replaced

Yesterday just pumped out a pool from Hurricane that's been sitting there stagnant since the storm so about 2 months now it was the worst thing ever that was nothing not saying you didn't work hard but the muck we had to scoop out no joke 8 inches probably it was like a giant mattress of sludge gray sludge it was a place right off Bonita Beach Road almost to Fort Myers Beach we do swimming pool leak detection and this is a customer who used Us in the past and we committed ourselves to pumping out his pool and after washing it but we were not ready for what we got ourselves into just me and my boss but we had it done within one day just the two of us hoses in the pool filling it up by the end of the day the dark stain on the bottom of the pool the entire pool was so dark it was crazy I was trying to send some pictures but it wouldn't let me but we went back today and checked on it and four jugs of chlorine we're going to go check it out again tomorrow but it is getting better we didn't have a two bottom drain deal like this pool where you could take the other plug out of each drain pot and what the water table fill in the pool it was old school pool just one bottom drain with one pipe so we had to hustle we were right on a canal water level maybe 2 ft from water level in pool so lucky the pool didn't pop and we didn't find out till we got down to the drain that it only had one drain with no ground water plug but got it done dead fish in there and everything terrible job to do actually still got to put a new pump motor on but anyway figured I'd share good job doing it without hiring a contractor props to you on that

Ian survivor from Cape Coral here, who has gone through many hurricanes and never needed to even partially drain. Just a tip to everyone, don’t get scammed into draining your pool, and having it pop out of the ground. We see it all the time. People either assume their pool has to be drained or they get scammed into doing it. It’s so unnecessary a majority of the time. Even if flood waters have breached your pool, even if the water is green/brown, even if you have large debris, you can chemically clean it and get it crystal clear within a week. All large debris gets removed. You begin the chemical cleaning process by adding chemicals (this initially also prevents it going green if you don’t have much contamination right after the hurricane. Make sure you or your pool service is testing the water and following a recommended schedule for restoring pools chemically after severe contamination or stagnation). Then you clean out shingles and shingle granules, plant materials and smaller debris, until you’re left with just algae. Every day, you wanna clean with nets and scrub the pool. Yes, it may look clear and then get dirty once you do this, but do it every day. The algae on the bottom needs to be scrubbed, even if adding chemicals. Finally, once all debris that could damage pumps are removed, you can utilize your system, chemical cleaning, and brushes and nets to get the pool crystal clear. We’ve done this every single time. Ranging from very little contamination to full on large debris, pieces of cages and chairs and lawn ornaments in it, the water covered in Algae and brown, from canal contamination. Most pool companies that are honestly true to their morals will only partially or fully drain if it’s absolutely the ONLY option. But unfortunately thousands of pool companies do it unnecessarily for greed, scamming their own community that’s already hurting. Anyways, even if you didn’t run your pool system, you wanna check your filters and system for any damage or buildup/clogs and just keep brushing, filtering through the filter, and adding chemicals as needed (make sure you’re follow a professionals schedule or advise here), and within a week it’ll be crystal clear.
Just make sure you take out the plug
