  • On 10 Feb 1977 ABBA played their long awaited first gig in Great Britain, at Birmingham Odeon. The venue had a capacity of 2,500, and promoters were hopeful of securing a sell out, in the event, the box office recieved over 50,000 ticket applications!
Security was very tight at that time, mainly due to the threat posed by possible IRA terrorist attacks, only 2 years earlier IRA bombs had killed 21 people at 2 locations only metres away from the venue.
A Swedish film crew interviewed the band in The Odeon foyer, and after the show, the band shed tears of relief, they were so nervous about playing for the first time in Britain, Agnetha said ' It was especially scary playing in front of a British audience, We were terribly nervous about playing that first night in Birmingham, after all, its classic ground in terms of pop music'. Tickets for the show cost just £2!
This clip was shot by a Swedish film crew, some of it is in Swedish, and some in English..

Seeing the reactions of the fans as they leave the show is simply beautiful. "Fantastic! Marvellous!! Brilliant!! Best thing I've ever seen!!"
    Can't help feeling jealous. ❤
