  • A look back in time to Birmingham 1973, where traffic was far abundant than it is today. An amateur home movie without any sound.

Happy days of the past!!!, I wish Birmingham was exactly like this now. Now there is immense difference with buildings, roads and cars. My ancestors journey started here, Manchester and other towns as there was lots of high paid jobs available for the previous times. Excellent video from the past. Thank you for the upload.

Quite agree, i remember it like this & you knew your was around, it's a maze now & with a 'Clean Air Zone' in the City, maybe it's to do with all the extra traffic now!!!

What utter rubbish, as a Brummie living through those days I much prefer Birmingham as it is now

I could play this on a loop and drift back to when I was 14 years old... Playing truant "Up Town" ... Down on New St Station, dodging the Wag Man! I was hoping the person with the camera would have pointed over the wall and down to the platforms. Judging by the sun it's early morning, there might have ben an "Wizzo" on the 10:25 To Paddington..

I was just three and too young to understand or remember that period. Some years later, I visited Birmingham, especially the Museum and Art Gallery. The cream and blue buses are distinctive. I would have caught the 155 West Midland or 156 Midland Red to get there and back!
