  • Partite Diverse Sopra: Ach, was soll ich Sünder machen, performed by Elske te Lindert for All of Bach, is based on a chorale which opens with the words “Oh what should I, a sinner, do? Oh where should I begin?” Bach shows no sign of such doubts, in a musical sense at any rate. He begins with a relatively simple harmonisation of the chorale melody (partita 1), and he also knows how to continue. It is followed by a series of 9 variations (partitas 2 - 10).

THE PIPE ORGAN IS ONE OF THE GREATEST CREATION OF WESTERN SOCIETY FOR ITS INGENUITY, CREATIVITY, EXPRESSIVE COMPONENT, AND MONUMENTALITY AS WELL AS DELICACY. IT´S ORIGINS GO BACK AT LEAST TO ANCIENT ROME. BACH REPRESENTING THE PINNACLE OF MUSICAL MACHINE AND INTELLECTUAL AND ARTISTIC CREATIVITY, FOREVER PONDERED UPON BY EVERYONE.

An exceptionally interesting performance. This fine organist makes the most of the "diverse" nature of this set of variations. I was moved, thrilled, gratified, and finally just grateful for this music, presented on this extraordinary instrument, in such a delightful manner. As always, the videography was a great pleasure as well. Thank you, again and again.

Exquisite performance with absolutely elegant interpretation and attention to detail. The tempo of each movement was well-chosen.
The sense of line drove the music forward, yet the breathing shaped the phrases beautifully. The note articulation was
magical. One rarely finds Bach organ music played with such perfection! A performance of this calibre is a rare find. And it doesn't happen magically.
It is the result of a tremendous work effort of refining and refining each detail of the music. Such a gift to us!

If you play the harpsichord, this organ Partita won't be any problem for you, I suppose: it is composed for manuals only. Also the agogic way of playing is more like harpsichord than piano playing.

Great performance. But I’m not a big fan of the organ itself. Or at least what registration could be gleaned from hearing it. My ears wanted to hear less reeds and more flutes like gedackt, geigen or just plein jeu. Or just the foundation stops, Principal, Diapason. I’m afraid Mixtures on this piece should be used sparingly. Stylistically, Bach is very much under the influence of his teacher Georg Böhm and Pachelbel to name just two stylistic references. Again great performance, however.
