    Great tips! Engine oil used to work okay in some manual transmissions, but it doesn't work well anymore because modern engine oils have gotten so slippery that they will keep the synchros from grabbing well, preventing smooth shifts. It won't damage anything in the short term and it's fine to use in an emergency if it's low and the proper fluid isn't available, but I wouldn't use it intentionally because it isn't really compatible anymore.

    Hey good tips. You've got a lot of quality content on your channel much appreciated. My hatch made it to 450,000km before spinning a con rod and main bearing. Bought a knocking a20 at 160,000km a while back and tore that one down, rod journal was scored up but didnt spin a bearing, can be polished up and run 0.5mm undersized bearing on that con rod, just waiting on the machine shop and I'll have it back on the road for the summer. Not sure what the root cause of the failure was on the 160k engine, but the o-ring on the oil pickup tube was cracked on my original! Definitely going to be setting up an oil pressure gauge when it's back in the car.

    I’m in Florida and temps are getting into 90s. I went with 5w30 oil but debated to go thicker and got talked out of it. I’m now thinking I should switch to a heavier oil for summer. What’s your thought. Car is super low mile 89 Lxi accord.

    • @aziangarage
      @aziangarage  Год назад

      I've ran 10w30 for the majority of time when I daily drove my 200k plus mile Accord here in Arizona in 100+ degree summers without any issues. If I could do it over again I would have ran 5w40 or 10w40 for summer time. With such a low mile car as long as you're consistent with oil changes you should be fine with at minimum 10w30.

    • @petescarport
      @petescarport Год назад +1

      @@aziangarage I’ve always run the heavier oil on my benz that calls for 5w30 as well and had great oil pressure all year and no issues. I think I will swap soon to 10w 40

    Your channel is fantastic, thank you for putting your knowledge on youtube in video form. Intelligent, intelligible and easy to understand. I'm having clutch issues in my '87 Accord LXi and your videos are a huge help. Also, two thumbs up on your shirts/music choice. I think you had a Cannibal Corpse shirt in one of your videos. Excellent!

    In your experience, where on the clutch pedal travel should the bite, or engagement, point, be? How should one go about with a high bite point, given the clutch cable is adjusted on the transmission release side & clutch grabs good? Thanks.

    I know this is an old video, but I believe it's your latest video talking about the 3rd gen Accord. Would you have any pointers for why my 88 LXi begins to misfire at idle after reaching operating temperature? I've replaced my cap + rotor, main ignition coil, and a new battery. Accelerates and drives just fine, only hiccups and starts misfiring when I come to a stop. I'm kinda lost 😅

    Where did you get your body kit, I want a widebody kit but can't find one anywhere and hoping you knew a place for the 89 accord lxi

    • @aziangarage
      @aziangarage  Год назад +1

      I don't have a widebody kit, just side skirts, universal fender flares, and modified front lips. Some of the aftermarket "kits" that were made but now discontinued were Xenon, Duraflex, and Kaminari.
