This summarizes all of my thoughts exactly with m43. I was tired of picking and choosing(wrong) lenses before every trip due to size and weight.

The 40-150/2.8 is irresistible :D
Of course, you can just crop in from FF to achieve results similar to m43. Provided that you have a 80Mpx sensor and the absolute top-of-the-line lens that has enough resolution and microcontrast. People really should stop blindly trusting "equivalencies", because there are more aspects at play here than just "multiply by 2".
It's one of the best lenses I have ever used. I don't have a favourite, but it might be the only lens that never stayed at home since I got it. Thanks for watching grt guido

Haha, I actually thought of your post when i was creating the video and writing this title, so thank you. And yes, it does work. It's the best video in a year or so, and that only after a few days. The only struggle in my mind is that it feels a bit like cheating or so to make titles like this. I really don't like the click bate stuff. Great video ,explaining very well all the advantages of that system. I started with the first OM5 ,and never looked back.I now have the OM1 ,which I love.Easy to carry around ,light weight. Not mentioning the built in ND ,the hand held HR ,and the focus bracketing which I use often doing macro. Now I need the 100 to 400 did not think I did ….but your explanation and the result you have ,well now it is on my list along with the 90mm macro .Great job Guido !

I've been a Nikon shooter my whole life (past 15 years or so) and I still shoot DSLR. I've been contemplating upgrading to mirrorless for like 2 years now but the current Nikon selection was rather unsatisfying to me (not that their Z bodies and lenses would be bad or anything but the price/value ratio was just too high for me, given I‘m a hobbyist). I mostly do landscape, animal and recently started dabbling in macro, so like you, I like to stay versatile, and M4/3 started to look quite appealing to me as an alternative. After doing some research, I‘ve stumbled upon your channel and your content was the nudge that pushed me over the edge and I‘ve bought an OM-1 with the 60mm Macro :) We’ll see how it goes. I just wanted to say that you have a great talent of expressing your passion about photography and putting your experiences in a framework of practical, real-life use cases. Hearing about specs and features is nice, of course, but those of us with families and other obligations simply care more about being able to take their whole kit with them, not having to have 40 kg of weight on their shoulders and not having to rob a bank just to fuel their hobby. I think you‘ve expressed the benefits of M4/3 really well in this video and I think photographers like you or me, who value flexibility and practicality, will agree. Anyways, sorry for the long essay, thank you for your content and keep it coming - you‘ve earned one more subscriber ;)
Wow, thank you. Those are kind words. In the end, I started this channel because I hoped to inspire people with my photography. I can get more subscribers fast by making lots of gear videos, but that's not what I want to be known for. I want to show what you can do with photography even in a flat boring country like the netherlands. The was what I was missing myself when I watched youtube. And I still watch it btw haha. I just love to make these on location videos, and every now and then, something more related to tech. Hope the om-1 is going to be what you expected. I'm not an expert macro photographer, but I like how tiny the 60mm is. If I come across a macro shot, I can take it even when I'm not out there for that. For me, it's also about being versatile. Lots of images are taken during family holidays, and I don't want to carry around heavy gear all day long when out with the children like you. So I guess we have more or less the same reasons 🙂 for me it only turned profesional for a year, so I get that money is an issue here. Everything I bought was before that and had to be justified by the family. So that's what makes the system so great and, in my opinion, heavily underrated... once again, thanks you very much for watching and your great comment. I appreciate it 🙂 grt guido
Good video Guido: I love my OM system. 7-14, 12-40mm, 60mm macro, 40-150 and the M.300 f4.0. The MC20 extends my range. I keep a flash or two along as well. I like having my kit with me at all times. One day I captured a Kingfisher at 1/15 second F8.0 at 2000 ISO using the M.300 & MC20 I was sandbagging my camera on my backpack. I was amazed at the result, even with the huge crop that was required. Thanks again Guido. Mike

Your images are fantastic. It’s so funny to see the vast variety of images you can capture with the lenses that you are able to carry. The combination of small size lenses, great optical quality, fantastic Olympus colors, and amazing in camera features means Olympus will be with me for a very long time to come.
The cameras are stunning, aren't they! I always like how they keep surprising us with technical new things that no other brand has thought of. Look at the mirrorles cameras, for example. Every brand said it was stupid, and now they are all copying it. Would not be surprised when, in the end, more brands end up with smaller sensors. Thanks for watching and your comment. I have literally just invested in Olympus with the EM1X, 100-400 and 40-150. Must say I agree with the benefits you have mentioned great quality glass and with super technology in the latest Oly bodies. M 4/3rds is awesome for wildlife and telephoto which I enjoy the most.
You have a great set there. I sold my em1x last year. I never used it anymore since I got the om-1, but I really enjoyed using the em1x for years. Not o ly telephoto but I think in general it's a great system.but the biggest size and weight advantage comes with telephoto. Thanks for watching and your comment! Grt guido

I agree with you .... a lot of people like Robin Wong said it was useless of m4/3 manufacturers to produce tele lenses because it would not be effective for small camera size. It is the size of the lens ,,that you can take with you what determines your succes rate , unless you do street photography ? Well no..... even Robin Wong loves his 75mm Pro on his E-M1II camera ., portable and long reach. I can take all these lenses with me in one bag to go on safari and put them in the overhead luggage bin. Try that with FF ..forget it.
That is exactly what I mean! Yesterday, I was watching a video of Thomas Heaton he went to Mongolia to photograph snow leopards. He brought a nikon 800 mm prime as a carry-on item around his neck. Pockets filled with lenses en spare batteries, and still, he was sweating because his backpack was way too heavy. Especialy for people who like to travel and like to photograph different subject this is a perfect system. And then we are not even speaking about what advantage it has when you try to capture those atmospheric images... anyways happy to see you back here 🙂 apreciate you watching the video again and taking the time to comment 🙂 grt guido

Yeah, especially when you feel so spooked every time you have to switch planes. I am also wondering how you use that massive lens... M43 often has no size or weight advantage, when you compare apples to apples. Few seem to consider that M43 loses roughly 2 stops, due to the reduced surface area. f/2.8 on M43 is not f/2.8 on FF.
For example, the Olympus 40-150mm f/2.8 is roughly equivalent to 80-300mm f/5.6. Sony makes a FF lens like that, which is roughly the same size and weight.
M43 bodies can be slightly smaller, because the sensor is smaller, the IBIS is more efficient, the shutter is smaller and you don’t need a large battery to power them. However, modern Sony FF cameras are considerably smaller and lighter than many M43 cameras.

I couldn't agree more. I have been shooting MFT for years. Bought into the idea that I needed full frame and jumped ship for a bit, but when Lumix released the g9ii I came back and I'm so happy. Just walked around paris for two weeks and had a 35-100 2.8 in the back pocket of my jeans. (Probably a bit risky for pick pockets, but to be able to have a 12-35 on my camera and a telephoto in my pocket with no need for a camera bag, is so amazing.) Can't wait to get a 100-400. Been on my wish list, for now I've been making do with the 100-300, which fits in my jacket pocket! Your work is beautiful.
Great to see that your back and happy with the micro four third system! The portability is absolutely amazing. I think Paris is one of the worst city's in the world when it comes to pickpockets so better watch you there. Are you looking for the Panasonic or olympus 100-400? @@GuidoVanDeWater I’ll likely go with the Lumix since I’m shooting on the G9ii. I love the Olympus cameras as well, but Lumix always made the most sense for me for the video side.

Thank you very much. Flexibility is the most powerful thing about the system. especially for me as a landscape photographer / nature photographer. I never know what I want to photograph when I leave home. With this system, I don't need to make that choice. I can just wander around and photograph whatever I see. You are spot on with your observations. It is the reason I always take my MFT gear when traveling. The ability to cover so much focal range without having to worry about weight makes the system stand out. Then you have the addition of computational feature which is the icing on the cake 😊

Thank you Guido - another lovely video. I have been using a OM-DE-M1 for 10 years including in torrential rain storms while photographing Geese flying over me. I have the latest OM -1 plus 12-100 F4, 100-400 - mainly birds - as an amateur.
You have a great combination of equipment there. I also have the 12-100, but it's not in my standard travel kid. It's more for around the house, photographing the kids and when I want to travel really lightweight. Then I take the 12-100 and the 100-400, and I have everything covered. A very good and realistic video that shows both your skill as a photographer and that a minor senor has its advantages. Your photos also show that image quality is more about photographer than equipment.
I agree with you. The camera is as good as the one that uses is. A less experienced photographer get less good shots with any camera. On the other hand can a experienced photographer find good shots with every camera. Hello Guido, you show beautiful, dreamy und magical pictures, it is a pleasure viewing these, thank you very much. I agree with you and love my Olympus/OM equipment too, not only for the amazing OM-1 and the great lenses, but also for the unique features this system offers: the best image stabilization in the world, LiveND, LiveComposite, Handheld Highres and focus stacking in camera. OM System really deserves more attention among photographers - amateurs and professionals.
I could not agree more! Unfortunatly somehow they only have a few percentage of the marked these days. But I'm convinced other brands will eventually move to smaller sensors when the technique gets better and better. Good summary of the benefits of m4/3. What is the largest prints you are comfortable making from your m4/3?
I have prints here from 1.6 meters wide x 90cm High. And I don't see any issues with it. And when I know I'm taking a killer shot, I just take an 80mp high res shot. But the bigger you print, the further younstand can look at it as soon as it doesn't matter because you won't look at those details anymore. Thanks for watching and your comment. I use MFT and FF and love them both for different reasons! Both have their advantages and disadvantages, learning which tools to use for each application is key to how I shoot my various genres within photography and videography! Luckily, I am not forced to choose just one system! Variety is the spice of life!👍🏾🙏🏾. 🏴🇸🇪🇹🇹

After my film days with Canon, I started digital with APSC up until Canon were not giving us 4k video, so I added MFT (Panasonic GH5 and now GH6) to use just for video with adapted FF Canon glass plus a couple of Olympus PRO lenses. Today I have many Oly pro lenses but still no Oly body! However I invested in the Nikon Z9 and a lot of Nikon top Zs glass for my ultimate low light and hybrid shooting needs. So my MFT system has become my back up or light weight setup! I shoot fast action sports and low light concerts and events with the FF and mainly video with the MFT
Beautiful! Like you, when I have time to take my camera out I don't like to limit myself to just landscape OR just small birds in flight. I try to notice nice shots at all distances and capture what I can. I started with aps-c, then went full frame, then back to aps-c, and I just switched to m43 (OM-1) this last Christmas. No regrets!

I'm convinced that there are so many advantages that they overrule those few downsides, which I don't even think are downsides. I absolutely enjoyed your video, how you explained everything and showed awesome examples, please continue to do these if you have time. The one picture of some tall pines with a beam of light at an angle...I said WOW out loud, it's an amazing shit, but you stated you didn't think it was that good. I wonder how many pictures I overlook in this same manner. Anyway thank you!
The shot of the pine trees was good, but I always have the feeling that it could have been so much better with a polariser. But this was a split-second shot. I noticed the lightbeam and knew that it was gonna hit the tree in a minute or so. So rushed over there, got the camera took the shot and then the sun had already moved too far, so the light was not on the tree anymore. It's a great image, but it's not the best 🙂thanks for your kind words. I will definitely make more videos. Every know abd then I make these reviews, tips, tricks, tutorials etc. Mostly, I do the on location landscape photography videos. Currently, I'm in the middle of a series that I recorded in Sweden a few weeks ago. First, Guido I should like to congratulate you on your excellent images. Well done! Not only are they beautifully composed but they appear to be pin sharp. Secondly, I am a full frame user and I have heard so many critics of the micro four thirds system point out its shortcomings that, frankly and rather cowardly, I have been afraid to even test it. Hi Henry, thank you those are some kind words. I am convinced that there are no bad photocameras anymore these days. Some types only suit better to different kinds of photography. And that is the case with MFT it really suits the way I like to photograph. Everything on the fly, flexibel and lightweight. You should try it sometime 🙂 it is indeed a shame that everyone keeps bashing this system. They always talk about negatives that where there during the first few years of MFT but they are all solved in my opinion. I only see the benefits these days. Where are you from? Thank you Guido. I am British and live in Wiltshire in the South West of England. I am currently thinking of potentially switching from Sony (my main camera is the Sony A7R iv A) to the OM 1 system, mainly for the considerably lighter and more compact lenses. I wrote to OM UK last week asking if I could rent an OM 1 with two or three lenses. As at the time of writing, I have not received a reply. I am not a professional photographer simply a very keen amateur.

I am doing the same as you, except I have 2 camera bodies so that one is always ready for wildlife opportunities: a G9 and the OM-1.
I highly recommend the Panasonic Leica 10-25mm f1.7 for landscape photography.
I've heard before that it is a great lens for landscapes. It would be a bit overkill for my set. I used to take two cameras also, but nowadays I mostly shoot landscapes, so I didn't need them. I have an em5mk3, but that only goes along as a video / vlog camera. That is for watching and your kind comment. I really appreciate it. Grt guido
Mooie video Guido. Na mijn overstap van Canon FF in 2019 is mijn verbazing eigenlijk alleen maar toegenomen over Olympus/OM systems. Als landschapsfotograaf had ik echt wel twijfels, maar deze zijn compleet weg. Sterker nog, net als jij kan ik meerdere lenzen meenemen en waar ik voorheen nooit gedacht had vogels te fotograferen, doe ik dit nu wel. Laat de mensen maar sceptisch zijn, wij weten beter 😉
Ja mooi is dat he... ineens fotografeer je dingen waar je eerst niet naar keek. En mooiste is nog dat je nu altijd wel een mooie foto kan maken. Lukt het landschap niet dan maar een vogel. Lukt dat niet dan maar macro. En zo ko. Je altijd wel met iets thuis dat de moeite waard is geweest. Leuk dat je dat je de video gekeken hebt en bedankt voor je comment 🙏 grt guido
Very inspirational Guido! Great thoughts and great examples to go with it. I think another advantage of MFT it to travel really light. Lately I I use a lot the tiny OM System Messenger mini bag. I can fit in snug the 12-40mm f2.0 Pro, the 40-150mm f4 Pro and the OM-5 camera. So, in a tiny package a reach of 12-150mm pro-quality lenses and a quite capable camera.
That's exactly why I love the system. That is indeed a very capable set to take with you. You should have seen what I took with me to Sweden. 7-14 2.8, 12-40 2.8, 40-150 2.8, 150-400 f4.5 pro. 12mm 2.0, 60mm macro, om-1, em5mk3, drone, 2 osmo pocket video cameras, all kinds of batteries and powerbanks. Laptop and all of it went into the normal hand bagage without any problem and without breaking any airline rule. The weight and size advantage is just massive. I recently saw what Thomas Heaton took to Mongolia, and I'm happy I don't have those stressful moments every time I change my aeroplane. FF shooter here, all systems have limitations and you need to learn them, I am always impressed with the images of the M4/3 system and the size comparison is huge in the telephoto area, you have some great images,
The increased depth of field is a bonus for landscape, wildlife and macro, if fact I can make a huge difference in macro, yes you loose it on portraits and have more noise and need to be more mindful to crop in camera, but programs like denoise make a big difference,

Not even a negative in portrait work, just an adjustment of position relative to the model regains the depth of field.

Haha, yeah, I think you would benefit from it a lot if I see the hikes and plane rides that you take. There is definitely a great advantage. You can't use what you can't take with you. For example when you hike up those mountains in Hong Kong. If you bring my 12-100 and the 100-400 you would have a massive reach at about 3.5 kilo. That would help a lot. I agree. My 7-14mm f4, 14-150 f3.5-5.6, 100-300mm f4-5.6mm are always in my bag, with a 25mm f1.7 or 60mm macro optional.

I really enjoyed your images and your defense of MFT, especially when so many people seem to be forecasting its demise. After more than 40 years as a newspaper photographer shooting full-frame gear, I found myself retired without much personal gear but wanting to keep my hand in photography by photographing birds. This drew me to the G9 and the 100-400mm lens (along with an 8-18 zoom), a light but sophisticated and affordable kit. I will always admire full-frame, high-res sensor images but I think MFT is underrated and has never been the cause of me missing a shot. In fact, its portability is probably responsible for getting out into the field as much as I do.
I think that's exactly it. This system makes photography fun. You can take it anywhere at any time to increase the time that you can spend doing photography. And that is, in my opinion, more important than the size of the sensor. Maybe an image is slightly better (witch I doubt personally) for me being able to take everything and don't choose in the morning what subject I am photographing is a big advantage. I always have a range of lenses for 7 to 400 mm and even a macro with me. That gives me so much flexibility. Thanks for watching and you're coment i apreciate it. Grt guido

@benwedgwood1766 I don't realy like those click bate titels and I much rather make on location videos. But somehow every bow and then I make a video like this and it gets thousands of views. Much more then my on location videos that take so much effort to make. So I just hope that people stick around and enjoy the content that I prefer to make on location. Grt guido

Great video. I use the Panasonic Lumix G9 with leica lenses. Great system and easy to carry. The word you were looking for was “outweigh”. The positives of the micro 4/3 system outweigh the negatives. Thanks for sharing.
Happy to see you like the system! Especialy for hikers or people who travel a lot by aeroplane the m43 system is great. You can take everything you want / need without doing concessions. Recently travelled to Sweden and took every lens I have and 2 bodies. It all fitted into my hand luggage without any problem, and it did not exceed the maximum weight of 12kg. I've just started with the micro fourth thirds system, OM1 8-25 and 12-100 which I feel very comfortable with, especially when I can hike. My dream is the 7-400 f2.8 😜😜 thank you for the gorgeous images
Wow, that would be a dream. A 7-400 f2.8 would be unbelievably expansive. If they techniqualy could create something like that, I'm sure I could never afford it 😅 you have great lenses there! I know that 12-100 is also razor sharp. I actualy have that one also but I wasn't on the table 😅 it's more for my family trips or when I want to travel extreme lightweight. Just found your channel. I have dabbled a time or two with MFT in the past. I have a rental OM-1 on the way to try it again. Your images are so beautiful. I am curious about how you expose them and what software you use to process them. Subscribed.
Well, to be honest, I always feel that I don't do anything fancy with my images. I'm just always trying to be on the right spot at the right time. I don't have a specific style on how I approach a scene. Sometimes I iber expose. Sometimes, I don't. Sometimes I take high-resolution shots, and sometimes I don't... for me, photography is more a feeling that I'm after in my images than that I want them to be technically perfect executed. When the feeling I'm after is transmitted in the image, then I'm satisfied. But all images are covered in my on location videos where I show my thought process. How I think about compositions settings, locations I'm an open book and show everything. So I'm sure you will find out more about my thought process if you watch some of the on location videos. I do use Lightroom for my photo editing, and there are also some tutorials on the channel where you can see how I approach an image from raw file to finished images. Hope you will like your rental om-1. Good choice to rent one first. I see so many people spending lots of money on switching systems all the time. Was interesting to hear the benefits of the MFT system. I have no, but that doesn´t matter. I like my older Nikons with the APS-C sensors. Have focal length from 18 to 300mm. One of my favorite Lenses is the Sigma 28-200mm. One the other side, I like the challange to go out with any camera I have and make the best what is possible.

Hi Ernesto. Thanks for watching the video. With apsc, you already have a lot more reach than with ff. But I do agree with younit isn't the camera that takes the photo. it's the person using it. So in the end every camera is fine and every camera has its own pros and cons, I guess. How is the snow at your place? Did it clear a little? We have a couple of cms this week but not much. Grt guido

Best explanation for why it is helpful to see your composition natively at 800mm equivalent. I have been wondering what the advantage is with the high mp FF cameras that can crop for similar look. Of course I could learn to visualize it but there would certainly be shots missed
This is the unique selling point of the camera. And the fun thing is that you can really "play" with light when you can zoom that far. I've compared ff images from a friend that crops the same scene to match my m43 frame. Composition is the same, but you just don't get the same light. The camera makes a balance with everything that's in the frame. So, like you said, this just gives you the ability to look further. No matter what happens, I know I can photograph a scene ultra wide or ultra far away. That flexibility has given me many shots. Thanks for watching! Grt guido

I’m with you Guido. I have shot some lovely photographs with FF Canon cameras over the years. And then had an epiphany while shooting a sailboat race with my street camera (Lumix GX85) - because the security folks regarded my FF Canon as ‘professional equipment’ and barred its entry. The little MFT camera produced some excellent images. I bounced back and fore for a few years before selling the Canon. I’m now shooting much the same quiver as you (sans then 100-400mm). The biggest difference is that I carry my gear more often. What’s that old adage? The best camera is the one you have - an iPhone is better than nothing. Great photos and a thoughtful presentation. It's such an amazing system, and it's a shame that it has so much negativity online. Specialy by ff users who never even tried the system. I'm convinced from the start. On the first em1 there were some problems, but in my opinion, all the negatives that I had were solved. Nowadays, I only see the benefits. I own the OM-1 like you. Most of the time I carry the 12-100 mm 4.0 and the Lumix 100-300 mm II 4.0-5.6. That is enough for me to cover my needs. Photographing landscape, my dogs or birds. Today I did a nice sunrise with rays leading upwards from behind a mountain top into the cloudy sky. Not to forget the snowy Black Forrest all around me. You certainly would have loved to be here. I am completely with you on the MFT systems advantages. And I absolutely love your pictures. Thanks Peter!

I shoot fuul frame and aps-c, and I think blurry backgrounds are overrated. I usually don't like anything blurrier than 50f2 in my photos. One of the reasons I have stayed away from tele lenses is because of the shallow depth of field.
I'm not sure if micro four-thirds has the dynamic range or auto focus capability in compact bodies for me yet, but it is a promising system for the future, I think.
The dynamic range has made a huge improvement from the introduction of the om-1. The auto focus is extremely fast, especially with the tracking function and subject recognition. I love landscape photos with tele lenses, and it is much easier to get a scene completely in focus than with a wide angle. The focus stacks that I did (it happened maybe 3 times) are all with wide angle lenses. If you ever want to buy a new camera, then just test one out. If it's not for you, then you can always stick to the system you already own, but I think it's worth a try. Anyways, thanks for watching and your comment 🙂 grt guido
Outstanding images Guido! I find that 99percent of my photography, from wildlife to macro to landscape to portrait, is fulfilled by the 12-40 2.8 pro, the 40-150 2.8 pro, and the 2x teleconverter designed to work with the 40-150. It gives me full frame eq. of 600mm at f5.6, with a very respectable close focus for macro. That and the 0M-1 and I'm covered. So, I carry more lunch!
I also wanted to mention the benefit of the added depth of field with telephoto landscape work, where the depth of field is naturally reduced by the focal length. Oh, and if 600mm isn't long enough, I use HI Rez modes, and crop the 80 megapixel file- STILL ending up with more megapixel rez than cropping a typical full frame image.. What's not to like?
I totaly agree with you here there is nothing not to like. One advantage that I didn't even talk about in the video is that when you can zoom that much the camera adjusts its light metering to that frame and does ballance with the part that you are going to crop out. I love those moody golden atmospheric images and i get much better results by zooming. If a friend of mine shoots the same image with a ff camera and crops it back he has totaly different colours then I have. I actually have 2 on location videos coming in a view weeks that are shot in jpg. But that was purely done by accident. When I got back home after shooting 2 days in a row I realised that I was shooting in jpg 🤨 but I've shot jpg a lot ubtill a few years ago and there is nothing wrong with that. Full frame users can easily crop in to compensate, but they do not tell you that they end up with a 5MP file, not like your 20MP file. That's the key difference.
Agree buy also when you crop the camera still finds a light balance for the whole image. When you zoom in the camera only uses the light in that frame and adjusts to that. Bit you will never get that result when you crop into it. Thanks for watching apriciate the comment. Grt guido

Thank you. Yes, I sometimes shoot in high res mode, but not always. Sometimes, there are limitations like wind that make it not possible to create those high res stacked images. I like your video message about M43 sensor and lens system benefits. The weight reduction performance at 50% is phenomenal. I’ve seen other videos showing that the price reduction performance is even better at about 25% of equivalent full frame.
I am wondering if your selection of lenses and camera just as good for street, portrait and sport photography as it is for landscape, wildlife and macro photography? Do your lenses include optical image stabilisation? Lastly can this system of lenses and camera be successful for videography? If all answers to these questions are yes then this system seems neat, compact, complete and value for money.
I’ve been seeing a lot of reviews of the LUMIX G9ii which seems the obvious competitor to the OM-1.
I understand that the Olympus lenses can be used with LUMIX. Not sure if it’s 100% compatible. Love to see your take on the Lumix G9ii camera and also its compatibility with Olympus lenses.

I've never used the lumix myself, but what I've seen from other comparisons is that the om-1 is the best for photography, and the lumix is the best for video. But lots of my videos are filmed with the om-1 ( partly ), and I think it's a capable camera. Yes, I have lenses that have stabilisation in the lens. The 300, 100-400, and the 12-100 are all stabilised lenses , and the 150-400 Pro is stabilised. The beauty of the olympus / om system is that the lens stabilisation is synct with the body stabilisation, creating world leading stabilisation 7.5 stops. All lenses work on the lumix system, but the sync with the body will not work on a lumix, so you won't have it that good. I've seen lots of images on street photography, and it's used a lot for that also because it's small and lightweight. Sports should be a good subject because the camera is extremely fast and has great zoom lenses, so that should not be a problem, I guess. But I don't know much about portrait photography. I don't see why it shouldn't work, but the brand has positioned itself as an outdoor brand, and that is the group of photographers that they are aiming for. Thanks for watching and your comment. The system is perfectly capable of getting allmdetails in one shot. The strange thing is that your light use stays 2.8, so it's not that you have slower shutter speeds or anything. It's just the dov. But because the lenses are twice as strong as ff lenses in distance, that negative dov cab be neglected because the blurry background gets better when you zoo. Further. So for bird photographers, for example, it is rarely a problem. Most people who say it is never tried if themselves, haha. Thanks for watching, and your comment! Grt guido
Heel leerzaam! Omdat ik tijdens het gouden uur geen lens wisseling wil, het twee kleine camera (lumix G85) bij me, de een met 12-60mm, de ander een oude Olympus 135 mm.
Ja dat kan natuurlijk ook meerdere cameras meenemen dat scheeld een hoop gedoe. Ik heb er zelf booit zon moeite mee en ben er aardig handig in geworden om snel lenzen te wisselen. Uiteindelijk gaat het om het resultaat toch 🙂 bedankt voor het kijken. Grt guido
@@GuidoVanDeWater Ja, vroeger in mijn jonge jaren dat ik twee DSLR cameras, nu (72) twee M43 systeemcamera's, met lenzen zeer compact. En de kwaliteit is zelfs beter (geen onscherp filter voor de sensor). Voor overdag vind ik lenswisseling geen probleem, dan ga ik op pad met een body (de kleine GX85 en drie manuele lenzen: 17mm, 35mm en 135mm, met adapter slechts 12 cm lang.
Hallo Guido Je maakt interessante video's en fantastische foto's, Ik fotografeer al jaren met een Nikon camera maar ik ben me nu in OM systems aan het verdiepen en weet al dat ik de overstap ga maken. Ik heb even een vraag over de 3 telelenzen die je liet zien. Wanneer maak je het besluit met welke lens je een foto maakt. 100-400 f5-f6.3 vs 40-150 f2.8 vs 300 f4? ik hoop dat je me hier antwoord op kan geven. Al vast bedankt.
Leuk dat je de videos kijkt en bedankt voor je comment. Eigenlijk is het heel simpel hoor. 40 tot 150mm pak ik de vanzelfsprekend de 40-150 f2.8 pro. Van 150-400 pak ik de 100-400 maar dan word het wat lastiger. De 300 gebruik ik meer voor vogels en wildlife maar het is wel een beetje overkill. Het punt is dat de 300mm echt bizar scherp is zelfs met converters. Dus in sommige gevallen kies ik voor een landschap tussen de 300 en 400mm toch voor de 300mm omdat ik weet dat deze net wat scherper is. Echter moet de focal range dan wel op of 300 of 420(incl converter) uitkomen. Ik wil zo min mogelijk achteraf croppen dus ik kijk altijd even of het lukt op die vaste afstanden. Als ik toch wat moet croppen kies ook wel weer eens voor een 80mp high res foto zodat ik genoeg over heb om wat weg te knippen. Maar dit kan natuurlijk weer alleen als er geen bewegende onderwerpen zijn en geen zin etc. Kortom het is niet heel makkelijk te zeggen en het verschilt echt per situatie. Maar zoals ik al zei het is echt wel een luxe probleem want ieder ander zou blij zijn met 1 van de 2 lensen. Ik kon goedkoop aan de 300mm komen anders had ik hem wellicht nooit gehad. Ik heb nu tijdelijk de 150-400 f4.5 pro geleend maar dan merk je wel dat flexibiliteit echt heel veel waard is op die afstanden. Als ik het geld had koos ik daarvoor en verkocht ik de andere 2 maar tot die tijd ben ik dik tevreden met deze setup haha mocht je nog meer vragen hebben schroom niet om het te vragen! Grt guido

Leuk video weer. Ik ben net als jij iemand die gewoon graag op pad gaat en wel ziet wat hij tegen komt. Het beheersen van je camera systeem is iets wat je goed in je vingers moet hebben, het maakt niet uit of dit nu Full frame of het m 4/3 systeem is. Gisteren zijn mijn vrouw en ik weer de polder in geweest, super mooi winter licht hadden we op de akkers, en ik heb er 3 mooie vogel foto;s aan over gehouden. Ik gooi 98% van mijn foto’s gewoon weg. Anders heb ik mijn iPad zo vol zitten met foto’s die altijd beter kunnen, en ook wel beter zullen worden de komende tijd. Het gewicht tussen full frame en M 4/3 is niet echt groot. Een Om-1 met de 150-400 weegt 2480 gram . Mijn full frame R3 met de Rf 100-500 met 1,4 extender weegt 2800 gram. Als je onder de Om-1 een batterijgrip hangt kom je op of bijna op het zelfde gewicht uit. Dus de gewicht besparing is relatief.
Het licht is de laatste dagen zeker mooi! Ik gooi ook vaak 95 procent weg. Heb hoer een nas staan thuis die anders binnen een paar maanden bom vol zit. Bewaar idd ook alleen de beste van een trip. Wel gaaf dat je een paar mooiente pakken had. Hopelijk lukt het idd. Het gewicht valt idd relatief mee maar het formaat scheeld wel een stukje. Heb je toevallig de video van thomas Heaton gezoen gister? Die ging met zijn nikon spul naar Mongolië. Bij elke vlucht begon hij te zweten omdat zijn tassen te zwaar waren. Camera en 800mm prime om de nek. zakken vol lensen accu's en nog was alles te zwaar haha. Bedankt voor het kijken weer. Grt guido

Ik fotografeer vooral vanuit de auto, of beperk mijn wandelingen tot 1 of 1,5 uur. Dat is heel vaak meer dan voldoende. Dan zijn mijn vrouw en ik toe aan een goede bak koffie. Heaton doet zijn naam eer aan 😂🙏❤️
One day I will have the moral fortitude to discard 95% of my images. I think this is the biggest challenge in photography.

The whole reason I downsized to an OMD 10 years ago was because of size and weight, I’m now looking to upgrade to an OM-1 and invest in some pro lenses, does anybody know how the OM-1 handles astrophotography?
I thibk the om-1 is an amazing camera so that will be a big upgrade from a om-10. If you want to see more star shot look on youtube for @bellasvistas he even did some deep space shots. On Instagram look for my fellow OM system ambassador from Spain @photomoisho he does lots of these shots. Living in the netherlands star photography is almost impossible for me due to light pollution so I don't have much experience with it. Thanks for watching and your comment. Grt guido
The camera and the lenses are only tools. The eye from the person behind them make the tool great or not. Bad eyes don‘t grow up with better stuff. Gratulation to your amazing work.
True but what i meant is that with the right gear you have more options to look at. If you only have a wide angle there is no use of looking at the horizon for a shot. So the photographer's eye makes the photo but the right gear makes that shot possible. Thanks for watching and your kind words I apriciate it! Grt guido
I really like the MFT photos and colours but what gets me is the cropping method too many steps and not as flexible as other cameras. I crop my photos a fair bit and it makes me dislike it so much I want to sell the camera and all the lenses. I just don’t want to be bothered with the camera anymore.
Hopefully, you have found a system that suits your requirements now. I just look at it the other way around. Because I can zoom much further, I don't have to crop that much anymore. I have found that I rarely crop an image these days. Maybe to a 1x1 or 16x9, but usually that is because I shoot landscapes, and I take the high ress mode. Of course, with wildlife that is different. But like i said, if you can zoom twice as much, you don't need to crop half the image away. But like I said, that's how I look at it. For me it's cost, cost, cost! If I could afford a full frame 600m F4 would I buy it and lug it around? Of course I would! If I could afford a Canon R3 or Nikon Z9 would I lug those things around? Of course I would! But I will never be able to afford such things, so I will simply pay half the cost and get 80% of the result!
Haha, yeah, looking at the costs, there is definitely a big difference. I guess it also depends on your age. The older you get, the less interested you get in logging around that heavy, big stuff. Like you say 80 percent of half the money is a good value deal 😅 but I actually believe you can get exactly the same results 😀 what camera do you use and where are you from? thanks for watching grt guido

what the hell are you talking about? Camera adjusing to the light? Whaaat? Are you shooting on some automatic mode? You adjust shutter soeed, apperture and ISO to have an exposure of your choosing. You can mess up exposure with any camera
What I mean is the light that you see or the colour of it changes when you zoom in. If you take a wide angle shot the camera measures the whole frame but when you only zoom in to a point where the light is the most beautiful the camera displays complete different colours. That's because he camera adjusts to only that section of the frame. It has nothing to do with shutter speed, aperture or iso. It's just about using other lenses to make advantage of the colours that the camera sees. Grt guido
