  • I am far from being an expert, but I know when something just "fits". This combo I put together may be one of the best budget UL combos available. Im my opinion at least. I own 4 UL combos, and this new one, puts the rest to shame. Thank you for watching and please let me know your thoughts in the comments.

    Very nice video Joe! Thanks so much for sharing the rod! It seems like a really good one to have. I also thought the reel you paired it with was very nice as well. Super nice combo! Hope you catch a ton on it. Looking forward to some of that action. Keep up the good work buddy!

      Thanks David! After filming the review I went fishing with it. Caught several bass, bluegill, cichlid, and even a tilapia. Thats my favorite part of UL fishing, I never know what is going to bite.

    "...I had a few arrive, you know, in 2 pieces when they weren't supposed to be a 2-piece rod." 😂💀
    COMPLETELY agree about the placement of the hook keeper. Why some companies, even NICE companies, put it near your hands is beyond me.
    $100 is definitely "budget" in my eyes for a combo.
    Looks like a great combo, Joe. Solid review.

    That's a pretty sweet combo you put together Joe. Daiwa makes some nice rods at a good price. I have a laguna and aird and both have served me well. I will definitely look at the Presso rods. I've never used anything from Okuma, not for any particular reason, just never picked one up. Pflueger has always been my "go-to" for ultralight reels. As far as line recommendations, I have tried many, but always end up going back to Berkley Trilene XL mono. It's very affordable, casts well, and has never given me any issues. I use the clear and moss green colors. Good to see you out there catching some fish! I still haven't been fishing in 2024 yet. Crappy weather and pneumonia had me sidelined for a while but I'm hoping to get out there in the next week or so and try my luck. Thanks for the video man!

      Hey Paul! The weather I get but I hope you’re feeling better bud! Thats gotta be miserable. Sorry you’re dealing with that. I have used Trilene in the past and you’re right, it’s good stuff. I’m pretty upset this line has been discontinued. It’s awesome! So thin I can tie a Palomar knot on a Trout magnet! I haven’t done much fishing this year yet. In fact, the bass I caught in the opening of this video was the first bass of the year. And that was just a couple of weeks ago. Hope you feel better soon and are able to get out there and catch some ! 👊🏻

      It seems as soon as I find something I can't live without, they yank it off the shelf! LOL Really is a shame. Even for the $20 a spool price, it's worth it. But, I have gotten some great suggestions left to me so far, so I have some new things to try. I like doing that. I have noticed a small difference of my hours headed in the right direction. Man the best braid that I’ve used for ultra light is Varivas 4. It is super thin and has a very high pound test for the diameter. Also if I do not use the Varivas I use Sunline Siglinon. These lines are widely used in the BFS world. I mainly use these lines on the Diawa Gekkibijin or the Ark Gravity BFS reel. The first reel that I mentioned is about $250 or more if you can find them. And the Gravity BFS is about $150. Parabellum Fishing if you ever go down the rabbit hole of BFS I would be glad to give you my rod recommendations. Great video pal. Also I BFS fish in Clearwater, FL and it’s a ton of fun dragging 5 pound Bass in on a light rod/reel and small lures. And before I forget about it. Shimano makes a SLX and Curado version of those reels for BFS and they make a Scorpion. But none of those reels are DC models.

    • @ParabellumFishing
      @ParabellumFishing  5 месяцев назад +1

      BFS has been knocking on my door it seems for a while. LOL. I keep seeing more about it. Thank you very much for the braid recommendations! I w3ill absolutely check them out. If I do go down that road, a BFS SLX may be a good entry level place to start. Again, if I decide to tale the plunge, I will reach out. I appreciate that offer!

    • @rougaroux2359
      @rougaroux2359 5 месяцев назад

      @@ParabellumFishing if you are not going to cast under 1/8 ounce the SLX would be perfect. The Ark Gravity BFS reel can do it all.

      @ParabellumFishing  5 месяцев назад +1

      @@rougaroux2359 I think the Ark would be better then. I would definitely want to cast lighter than 1/8oz. And $150 isnt bad at all for a good reel. Thanks!

    0:29 That is a nice bend. I have been looking at this rod for a while now, not this specific model but the four piece travel version.
