@@maksimalyst definitely until that stupid thing between Furio and Carmella. Patsy was a great 2nd tier character. I can't believe he only has 20 some minutes in the entire show

David Chase took Dan Grimaldi to lunch and gave him the bad news the his character will be killed off , then had him over later for dinner to tell him he’s going to bring him back to play the twin brother.
I love Patsy. A true old-school, follow the rules type. Not to mention, he's a pretty smart/educated guy. Asking the construction foreman if he's Ralph Bunche before whacking him with the pipe. Ralph Bunche was a famous diplomat who mediated peace in Israel in the late 1940s - which won him a Nobel Peace Prize.

Patsy had quite the arc. He goes from being in Junior's crew when they nearly seize control of the family To having his twin brother murdered, being forced to report to and kick up to his brother's murderer, hushing up his extramarital affairs, getting passed over for captaincy by his nephew. His income is thin envelopes from chickenshit-soaked shops in the old neighborhood. And trying and failing to shake down Starbucks. My favourite bit of his is when he finds out that Tony sold the poultry shop building. On top of everything that man's done to him...he's also literally selling his businesses out from under him. Maybe he wants another new boat. He bides his time... eventually, he's the last man standing. Inherits the family, Tony's daughter becomes a Parisi, and he can put his feet up on a big pile of travertine floor tiles and count his riches. Commendatori
Definitely a plausible theory among many others. I like the theory that it was both Patsy and Pauly who conspired against Tony, and Butchie set the whole thing up.

I love the theory that it was Patsi and Paulie that okay'ed the hit on Tony, and that Patsi eventually became boss. There was a really short scene that was left out of here where Pauli tells Patsi, while they're both taking a slash, "it's yours..." or something. Patsi gets his revenge for his brother and becomes boss, New York is fine with it cos they wanted Tony gone, and Patsi's son is successful and marries the former mob royalty, further solidifying his position.
