  • Does your Honda Civic have ugly wheel syndrome in the winter when you are using steel wheels? You would be surprised at what a set of hubcaps can do for you!!! They are cheap as well, and you can put them on in about 5min :) Check out the before and after, quite a difference.

    I like the new intro! I didn't know how to put a hub cap on before this video! I tend to go for the "make my friends or family do it for me while i stand there" option 😅

    You gave the tires a makeover 👍🏽. The cover looks much better; however, what about at 0:47 with the rust / build up. What's that all about and is that something that is okay to stay that way?

    • @GarageKing
      @GarageKing  3 года назад

      Thanks for the comment!!! That rust is normal, as it's the hub, and outer axel and nut you are seeing. Where you worry is when the wheel itself rusts too much, because then sometimes you tire starts leaking right at the rim, I have seen that quite a few times. But what you pointed out, quite normal, and actually this one is not even that bad!!!

    I just bought some of these .. and I should have done it sooner in the warmer weather, because this plastic is cheap and seems like it would get very brittle in the cold ...hoping for a warm day to put them on so they don't crack on me!

    I wish you showed how to take the original off 😕 not much good if I don’t know how to do that

    • @GarageKing
      @GarageKing  2 месяца назад

      Hi There, there was no original on the wheel. This was put on a winter steel wheel (They don't come with hubcaps). On the factory Honda rims, the The hubcaps are held on by the lug nuts. I forget if its two, or all of them. If its all of them, then you CAN'T take the hubcaps off without raising the vehicle because your wheel could just fall off, and the car could fall to the side and injure you. If its two then its easy, take off 4 (leave one one) and pull, this way your wheel will stay attached to the car and you will be able to see. you can alternate lug nuts to get it off. But as I mentioned if its all 5 that hold it on, then you have to jack up the car because removing all 5 lug nuts with the car sitting on the ground is dangerous. Hope this helps you out.

    I got a honda civic ex 2001 and im trying to put hubcaps on and i cant just snap it on I think i have to take the lugs off
    (Ima new driver and all this stuff is difficult because im new)

    • @GarageKing
      @GarageKing  2 года назад

      Yes, sometimes to remove the factory hubcaps you have to take the lugs off which means you have to jack up the car. It’s easy to tell as you can take off one lug without jacking up the car and look at the lug. If the lug has a plastic ring on it then you have to take the logs off to get the factory cap off. Any other questions please let me know

  • @Andromeister27
    @Andromeister27 2 года назад

    you don't have to take off the lug caps first tho? Having it easily snap on like that makes it easy to get stolen.

    • @GarageKing
      @GarageKing  2 года назад

      Hey There, and thanks for the comment. For these hub caps you don't have to remove the lugs, they just pop on and off. You are right it makes it easier for someone to steal, but they don't cost cost much and no one stole mine.

    • @GarageKing
      @GarageKing  2 года назад

      I should have added for the factory hub caps you have to take the lugs off, not for these aftermarket ones. These aftermarket ones go with the winter wheels

  • @BestVersionOfMyseIf
    @BestVersionOfMyseIf 2 года назад

    Quick question, my civic has the hubcap covers that are bolted on with the lugnuts. Would i be able to replace these covers with new covers that snap on the tire like the one in this video? Or would i need ones that specifically bolt on?

    • @GarageKing
      @GarageKing  2 года назад

      Hey there and thanks for the comment. You could use these ones and they would work fine. The only thing is you have to take off your lug nuts to get the old cap off so you have to loosen all the lugs, then jack up the car then take all the lugs off, put the factory cap, put the logs back on, lower car, then tighten lugs and then slap the new hubcap on :)

    • @BestVersionOfMyseIf
      @BestVersionOfMyseIf 2 года назад

      @@GarageKing gotcha so basically i would just need to take the old hubcap off, screw the lugs back on, and then put the new hubcap on over top?

    • @GarageKing
      @GarageKing  2 года назад

      @@BestVersionOfMyseIf Yup you are correct, but the reason I said to jack the car up was because once you remove the lug nuts if someone bumps the car it can fall so best to loosen the lugs with the wheel on the ground, then jack car up and take lugs off.

      yeah, same here. i have a 06 accord EX and i have bolted hubcap covers

    • @GarageKing
      @GarageKing  2 года назад

      @@xl68lx Hey Thanks for the comment, the bolted factory ones are pretty decent, but for winter rims they don't work, so these ones really help out if you are using winter rims :)

    Is the valve stem facing inward or outward?

    • @GarageKing
      @GarageKing  2 года назад

      Faces outward, and there is a slot in the hub cap so when you line it up you can still fill your tire :)

    • @CptSquirrelX
      @CptSquirrelX 2 года назад

      it should be pointed inward? Because that's how I installed one. I just don't want it to fall off like my first one 😪

    • @GarageKing
      @GarageKing  2 года назад

      @@CptSquirrelX Oh wait, I'm not sure what you mean now, do you mean that wire that goes around the hub cap?

    • @GarageKing
      @GarageKing  2 года назад

      @@CptSquirrelX if you are looking at the video go to 2:02 time and you can see the steel band by the hubcap. I think it can only go on one way, I think if you put it on the other way it will push on the valve stem. If you can get it on either way then it does not matter, as its the tension that actually holds it to the wheel, the valve stem doesn't have anything to do with it. The biggest thing is to make sure its fully seated 99% of the time the reason they pop off is that wire is not properly installed around all the fingers, and its not fully seated. The other 1% of the time, well its a big pot hole you hit and it just goes flying off.........
