I think the the insect alien is a nod to Kafka’s “Metamorphosis” where the main character wakes up one morning as a roach. He was so alienated from his family and the culture that they viewed him as a monster. And he was happier that way.

This album was in 97 and it was heavy as hell for the time.

Their best album by far, imo. Heavy, aggressive, darker and more serious in tone than the next ones. Perfect blend between metal and hip hop, imo. Had even some funky and atmospheric stuff in it, fkn awesome.

Despite what wikipedia says, Limp Bizkit are more Rap Metal than Nu Metal. NU metal is more Korn, SOAD, slipknot, mudvayne etc.

Bizkit were awesome - seen them twice in England early 2000’s, both amazing performances. Subbed more bizkit for sure, especially boiler and rearranged

Your absolutely right that something DID happen that the powers that be…shut metal being in mainstream down…it was WOODSTOCK, and I’ve always 💯 believed that, Woodstock was complete boiling over of all the built up aggression of a generation, and the music went hand in hand with it, it truly WAS turn of century lol, and I think once that happened, they were like “it’s time to brainwash masses out of this” and they have slowly neutered the aggression out of popular music since, and tricked us into thinking we liked it, under the guise of “independent” 😂

Probably cause around that time all the oldies were scared to death off their children and couldn’t understand all the rebellion. Watch all those day time talk shows from the 90’s, the music and Columbine must’ve had the powers that be pull the plug. But also, can’t fully put it all on that. Rock & metal on pop charts just ran its course. Nowadays, it’s meh lol

Yes big picture korn IS the bigger band, however, at time when limp came along, they were an unstoppable force, and for a few years, they def took spotlight from korn and were seen as top of food chain, especially around time of Woodstock, and the 2nd album, they in turn made korn, and ALL nu metal, get more in mainstream…but then they kinda fell off after Wes left, and korn maintained and historically ended up being bigger band….also should mention, this song “counterfeit”, and the slipknot song “spit it out”, was the first metal/rap “rap battle” on wax, this was Fred taking shot at Cory, and vica versa, that’s why it says “wear a mask”, and in spit it out, Cory even calls him out by name, “step up Fred, I guess it’s time to bury your ass with the chrome, straight to the dome”, I forget why beef started, something happen on tour or some shit, but yea, I loved them both n was awsome lol
