I saw him play live as a kid and he started playing the piano by kicking his boots in the keys. It was great. But listening to it as a kid I just this as a nice song……as an adult it rips my heart in half because I see the meaning as an adult in my 40’s
Once every so many GENERATIONS a song comes along that is so DEEP people can't even deal with it. I'M SO LONESOME I COULD CRY by Hank Williams Sr is one of those rare, extremely GREAT classic songs. I believe Garth Brooks IF TOMORROW NEVER COMES just might be up there in that very rare category of ULTRA greatness..
I'm 74 years old and every time I play this song I'm reminded of the brevity of life and that every breath I take might be my last. So the lyrics remind me to be faithful to my wife and children but also to love them Now just in case 'Tomorrow never comes'. I've left them a legacy of L❤ve to last them till they finally reach the end. A truly powerful Song we'll sung!
This song isn't sad, it's a warning to prevent something sad from happening. My mom makes it a point, every day and for any reason, to tell us she loves us because you never know if that is the last words anyone hears. So we all say it back, and to each other. When my dad died a year and a half ago, one of the last things I said to him was "I love you" and "I'll look after the family", which to us means essentially the same thing. So the song isn't sad, it's a bit of advice, and it's a warning to not take time for granted and to make sure your loved ones know what is in your heart for them.
More greats from Garth are Papa loved mama or Ain't Goin Down Till The Sun Comes Up. Another suggestion is Gretchien Wilson's Redneck Woman or All Jacked Up. Also Man of Constant Sorrow by Home Free.
I personally don't find this to be a sad song. I feel as though it's a song telling your partner and your friends and family just how much you love them is so very important and to not let time or the small stuff get in the way of saying I love you. Great Reaction.
Funny you mention that, another genre. He almost chose rock and roll. Made the choice on a truck drive with his dad I believe. Wonderful guitar player as well. Knew a guy who hosted a radio show in the late 80’s in Nashville and said they made fun of Garth because of his name, when he came in initially. Until they heard him play. Nick said he was one of the most gifted guitar players he ever heard. Miss you Nick, thanks for the stories.
Obvisouly this is live... the man can sing.. And you just said you were 1 yr old when this came out... My oldest son was 1 also Garth 35 yrs ago was amazing and has only become better through the years..
Someone else had posted this, but Garth Brooks made a record for a movie that was never made under the stage name of "Chris Gaines". Gaines was portraited as a famous Australian rocker. I believe Randy Jackson of American idol fame played bass on the record.
If you want to hear Garth sing a different genre. Check out KISS "Hard Luck Woman" to get a sense for the song. Then listen to Garth's cover of it. I am a fan of both (KISS and Garth); and feel he did it justice.
This song isn't sad to me. Its a truthful tale of what all men go through when they meet the woman they feel is the one. The paranoid contradiction of humanity that is "faith" weather it be religion or like me in the love of a good woman is what makes us GREAT, we can overcome any trial as long as we do it together 🎉❤🎉
If you want to hear him in another genre look up Chris Gaines. That is Garth dressed up as Emo and singing alternative rock. It was a whole album he did for a movie based on a fictional character that never got made. Garth went ahead and made the album to give the people involved in the movie an idea of who the character is. The cancellation of the movie left alot of fans confused , I actually liked the album and it has alot of good songs. Lost in you was realeased with a music video.
I love some Garth.. always have.. the only thing is.. he (just like the King of Country) back then George Strait and Garth didn't write their music... Alan Jackson did... I love them all
My father-in-law was lost to a brain aneurysm without warning at age 49. My husband and I married one year later. We never go a day without telling each other that we love each other and share a kiss every time we leave each other. You never know when it will be your last goodbye.
Speaking of Garth singing other genres, listen to The Life of Chris Gaines album. That's portrayed as a greatest hits alum for the fictional pop artist Chris Gaines, played by Garth Brooks. Garth was grantred a deal to povide the soundtrack to a movie about the fictional character's life, and he dived right in producing the album ahead of time to help promote the project. Unfortunately though, the movie was cancelled after he released the album. His wife Trisha Yearwood referred to it as her favorite Garth Brooks album as it really showcases his vocal skills. He even did a live TV concert featuring the songs from this album, but I've never been able to find a recording of it. I do have all of his other TV concerts and attended one of his live concerts here in San Antonio back in 1996. Garth is hands down the best entertainer, second only to Michael Jackson. This is Garth Brooks was the first televised concert tat helped put him on the map; and a couple years later, his follow up This Is Garth Brooks Too was broadcast live from Texas Stadium. In that second show, he walks through a wall of fire, makes it rain on the stage and a portion of the crowd, and goes airborn just to top off the show. Later in his live broadcast from Dublin Ireland featured him dancing on a custom built platform built for the drum set that as mechanized to rise up and spin around on stage and ended with him running across the rafters constructed above the stage. The man knows hows to excite the crowd, and that explains why he has more Entertainer of The Year awards than any other artist in music history. Also, if you can go back and buy his albums, I highly recommend it. More than his first half dozen albums have nothing but hits on them. Even those that weren't relased as singles were great, not a single bad track to be found.
Thank you for allowing this song to play through without a lot of talking over it. Its a powerful song, and wouldnt have the same impact had you paused it at every verse and chatted. I really perfer this kind of format. So many times you will talk over a significant line of a song and always feel as though youre missing an important part of the meaning. So, big kudos on this one kiddo, this one means a lot to many of us older folk!
Yeah he has lost his mom and sister to cancer I think along with a bunch of other friends and family members. And I used to have his brother and sister in law and his nephews as teachers and classmates in high school
Unless I heard it wrong from what Garth said himself, then IF TOMORROW NEVER COMES is written to his daughter!! This song is amazing, but please listen to Garth sing THE DANCE, that is so true and could be about a relationship, but also about life and what makes YOU into YOU... He is a religious man to, yet I have not heard any Gospel like songs, are there any, then please let me know, thanks!!!
soo saad .. but sweet.. the newbs to garth wont know what he looks like since the settings in your vids.. I keep coming back hoping it has changed.. You aree beautiful but i would like to see the video you are reacting to also
If you want to see what he sound like singing something different the look up Chris Gains. It’s a fake name he used to record a different album under a different genre as kind of an experiment.
If you want to hear him in a different genre look up Chris Gaines. It was a weird rock phase he went through in the 90’s. Not his best work, but it wasn’t terrible.
If you want to hear Garth Brooks sing in a different genra, he and Huey speaks famed up to do one of z speakers classic '80s songs Working For A Living.
This Is A Real Mans Song...Men who Know How To Love and Are Not Afraid To Tell The World and Not Afraid To Cry.
One of the best songs ever!
The song comes from the heart ❤
1989 this was Garth Brooks first number one song if Tomorrow never comes classic
I saw him play live as a kid and he started playing the piano by kicking his boots in the keys. It was great. But listening to it as a kid I just this as a nice song……as an adult it rips my heart in half because I see the meaning as an adult in my 40’s

He did a soundtrack album under the alias Chris Gaines. It's mostly Rock music. It was for a movie he was working on, that never happened.

This is my all time fav song
You’re pretty cute and agree he has an amazing voice. Thanks for sharing
Ain't going down til the sun comes up is a jam.. especially if you can find a live version!
Garth didn’t write this song for his wife or girlfriend, she wrote it for his daughter! And yes, he can sing! Very, very, VERY WELL!!
He didn't have kids yet when he wrote this song.
It says this was written by Garth Brooks, but Charley Pride performed this song years before Garth Brooks was even heard of.
Great that he PERFORMED it, but it was still written by Garth and Kent Blazy. Pride just covered it.@@robertlong2668
@@coversbyroy15 my mistake
@@coversbyroy15 Thanks for calling me out. I stuck my foot in my mouth

I also take this point of view.
You can look up "Chris Gaines" which is Garth singing different genre's of music
I was gonna post that! I still have the CD and it's great.
Garth doesn't have any bad songs. Love him and his wife Trisha Yearwood
best concert I ever went to was GBs way back like 30 years ago
Such a meaningful song.
While in Vegas Garth sang popular sings he lived while growing up.
Can't go wrong with a cowboy especially this one 🤠

I have his box set of all his songs. It’s worth it especially if your throwing a party lol beer and bonfire in the back yard

This is the most beautifil love song with of course Love of my life by Freddie
I cry everytime I hear it.
Garth. Rooks and George Strait are iconic in country music.
Good stuff!
Thanks for the song. I've got to go make a phone call.

Many people make fun of it…but I was so impressed with his artistry and talent…..supported it 💯
Young Garth Brooks was so good
If this song makes you think, google the Bell South Bear Bryant commercial made in 1982.
I love some Garth.. always have.. the only thing is.. he (just like the King of Country) back then George Strait and Garth didn't write their music... Alan Jackson did... I love them all
If you can listen to this song without getting hit square in the heart then it must be a *real* small target.
This song should inspire you to improve your efforts to tell your loved ones how much they matter.
See, that's what we like to refer to as love. A long forgotten concept these days it seems....

I don't feel sad by it. I feel wonderful for it because he is making sure the ones he cares(his child) for know he loves them every day
Brit got serious and sad bless her heart 💜
It is only “sad” If this becomes true in one of your loved ones life. Loving someone is the best gift you can do for them.
❤
Yeah he has lost his mom and sister to cancer I think along with a bunch of other friends and family members. And I used to have his brother and sister in law and his nephews as teachers and classmates in high school
Hun, your reaction says it all..
He actually left country music for a while to experience the rock side of himself. He really didn't do as well but he said it was still fun.
He mad rock music under another Alias I cnt remember the name but all u gotta do is google it and it pops up.
Unless I heard it wrong from what Garth said himself, then IF TOMORROW NEVER COMES is written to his daughter!!

It's not really sad. It's just saying "let the people you love know it now, because you don't know what will happen".
You should check out Keith Whitley - When You Say Nothing at All.
This one launched him
Chris Gaines IYKYK
Darius Rucker Wagon Wheel
If you want to hear him in another genre, look up his alter ego "Chris Gaines" more of a rock feel
You should check out the album version of this song. As good as he is live, his albums are 3x better.
If you want to see what he sound like singing something different the look up Chris Gains. It’s a fake name he used to record a different album under a different genre as kind of an experiment.

Sound quality is very poor on this. Sounds like a 10 dollar 1958 transistor radio.
Sound quality changed for copyright.
If you want to check out Garth Brooks in a different genre, you should check out Chris Gaines😂
If you want to hear Garth Brooks sing in a different genra, he and Huey speaks famed up to do one of z speakers classic '80s songs Working For A Living.
If tomarrow never comes, I'll remember your face..
What happened to your sound quality on this video? It had a tinny sound.
Please check out Chris LaDoux!
Makes me sad thinking of my wife and my family
Pull up the music video of “The Dance” you’ll need tissues
If you think this is sad you don't need Bobby Goldsboro "Honey" or Clarence Carter "Patches".
If you wanna hear Garth sing other genre's boy do I have an artist for you... check out Garth's alter ego Chris Gaines
Studio cut is much better
I gave it a thumbs for you...otherwise I dont like Garth
Not a great fan of his....but its an awesome song.
The sound quality on this one sucks. Find a better version
