Of all the bass channels I listen to I always look forward to anything Lee puts out. He is my favorite test drive musician out there, super chap with skills to match!
Great video as always - I've got a Sire M2 in my studio for noodling the odd time, very underrated instrument. Would love to see you guys reviewing the Markbass GV4/GV5 basses too and seeing how they compare. And Happy New Year to all at Andertons!
Great demo! I fought my Fender hangups for years, and finally got a Sire P8 in tobacco sunburst about a month ago. I can't say enough positive things about it. It's an all-around better instrument than the Fender American Ultra I bought and sold within 6 months earlier this year, at less than half the price!
I own a Lakland Skyline deluxe 55-02, an Ibanez SR500 and a Sire V7 2nd gen, ash body. I enjoy playing all my basses, each has pros, and a few cons, though I would be hard pressed to find a con where the Sire is concerned. The headstock has never bothered me. If i could only have 1 out of the 3 I own, it’s the Sire without question.
@@calvinwilds46 I’m probably partial to the 5502 because I got it made with the “lightest wood in the warehouse” and I could play that thing for hoursssssss. It was like 8.5lbs
I love Sire basses - they are amazing for the price. I've got the P5R in 5 string, and pre-ordered the G5 Fretless 5-string. The Z series had me considering getting in trouble with the Mrs for buying another bass, but I literally already several MM basses so can't justify it LOL.
You guys truly rock... I think of you as the Sweetwater Sound of Europe, and that is a GREAT compliment! :-) I've purchased a Sire H7 and an L7V, and am about to order a P8, and your videos have been a huge help in my making these selections... THANK YOU!
True, I watch these videos and find they are too distracted in chat to deliver the information. The videos end up twice as long as they should be in the normal setting.
Louis can you please start making review videos for these basses then? I was hoping you can outdo any of the anderton content, or actually even come close to touching the quality of these videos.
My only real complaints with my Sire basses is the hum when you select anything but the middle indent of the PUP selector. Also, really wish there was two more frets so I can easily touch a high E on the G string. I have this exact V8 and I don't play any of my other basses anymore and I own 12 others. I plan on getting the P8 (white) this summer. It's already on order.
wait, a 5 string Precision style bass for under £2000? why couldn't these things have come out before I went to an American Custom Shop to buy an overkill bass to play in a band that only attracts 5 people to the audience
Just hope the new series is without warped necks, before you could get one with a warped neck sadly, it get's replaced but it should be a nono in these basses, enough Fenders going around with that. And how about the sticky knob's in this series.
How does the V8 compare to the EBMM Stingray Special in regards to feel, playability, tone, etc? I was listening to a YT video in which there was a V7 being played with a guitar in a guitar focused video. The V7's preamp seemed to have a noticeably deeper sound as compared to the Stingray. I currently own an Stingray Special. Unfortunately, I have no access to Sire basses. I would have to order one and have it shipped to me so i could try it. I live in a dead zone whn it comes to gear. Thanks for any feedback!
They have a toggle to switch between active and passive. In the latter case you won't need a battery to run it through an amp, but you can't use the on-board EQ and it has a little less output. But perfectly good to play it passive as well if need be.
According to Sire’s website, it replaces the V7 swamp ash, not the V7 Vintage. The standard V7 is only available in alder now. They did move the pickups from the 60s to 70s position like the Vintage. The V7 Vintage still appears to be available in both alder and ash.
Hope this is not going to be a regular occurrence.. just wondering where Mr.King is. And what about the groovy girl. Hope that you are keeping everything professional over there. lol.
Groovy, so sick of all this rock/metal/punk bass crap. Nothing against Cici, the genre just sounds like audial vomit spew to my ears. Please, more Lee and his tasteful jazz bass groovy jams! And I miss Nathan and the combined energy between the two
@@kevindesouza4076 agreed, nothing but respect for Cici as she is very clearly a talented musician, just personally think it would be great to see more groovy bass jams. Same goes for Nathan and yes I also see a level of mastery with Lee’s playing, don’t doubt at all that all can hold it down in any genre and Lee particularly shows that alot in the videos. My main point is that while metal/rock certainly have lots of fans I wish the channel would remember that the bass also has alot of players that appreciate the groovy stuff more.
@@discobassgroove I think he's more saying that there is a difference but that difference doesn't mean anything because you can change it via the amp and eq settings
Hahaha There are still people that believe this. There is a significant difference. I don't understand how anyone could still think that given all the RUclips videos that highlight the difference.

This was a proper review and description with just enough color commentary. Real good playing, Btw! Good playing, good demonstration.
Well done man. I love your playing.
Those instruments are the most useful looking/sounding out there.

I’ve been eyeing a P7 for a while and now there’s a new one to consider. Sounds great!

Mine would be 55-02 got vintage v7 and p7 4 string but if only could keep 1 55-02 would be the 1.
Man I had a 55-02 and I miss it. I currently have a V7 vintage and I am debating if I want to get another 55-02, P8 or P10
@priceth damn nice debate I would get the 55-02 but the others are nice also

Sire made the bridge like the Marcus Miller signature fender. It looks an sound like the bad ass fender bridge.
Boosting the preamp and cutting the treble sounds amazing thanks for the tip!

It's jaw dropping just how cool this guy is
Nice one! Sire basses are really awesome I have the U5.
Seems like everything you'd want in a J or PJ, with passive and active modes.
Great demo video. Those basses sound fantastic.
Far better with Lee on his own…more interaction with the camera/audience without distractions. Far more detail on the instruments.

PS have you tried bitching about it?
Shoot... any bass would sound magnificent in this guys hands
Wonder why they both have different knobs. The knobs on the P looks more sturdy.
Love that tobacco burst finish.
It really goes well with the roasted maple neck, like on the P5 and V5.

Where have you been for 2 years!? I am playing the same bass, but still playing with the pre amp. 😡 2:00, I'm ready!!
I know the 5 string V8 has a 9.5 fingerboard radius how low can you set the action without buzz?
I have V7 latest Gen and looking into getting V8, 4 strings. Not sure if it's worth getting V8. I do love my V7.
Gosh jee whiz love your playing Bro!
Is the bridge pickup on the P bass in passive mode also noiseless? And how about the two J pickups on the V8 (when used separately)?
Can y'all do/Have y'all done a video on the Sire passive series basses? ✌️

Do a p8 vs p10dx pls
Those basses are where it's at!
Anyone else have problems with the active circuit? It works sometimes and other times not.
Hi there
Very nice demo
Can you share please the weight of this new v8
Thanks for sharing
S.V
I own an M5 and a V5. Is the P8 neck thickness like the M5 or thicker like the V5?
Anyone knows what genre he played in the intro ?
Is the bridge pickup on the V8 in the 70's position ? looks like it
Yes it is
We’re you playing in passive or active mode…?
You guys have just done me… acquired.
Ciao! C’è neck drive? Il basso è bilanciato?
Esses Baixos são top demais
Awesome video! Any chance of including slap tones in these demos?
nice intro fam
Is it necessary to have the preamp batteries installed in order to run it through an amp?

Hello my Talkbass family ! SIRE is incredible and give my USA Peavey, and Alembic a run for their money.
Can somebody tell the name of the song at 7:11, plz
Do Sire make medium-scale 32 inch Basses ?
No. They have the U5, which is a 30” short scale PJ. Everything else is 34” or 35”.
Lefties?
The bridge pick up sounds like a cockroach without some lo end added to it!!
Is that a replacement for V7 or V9 ?
It's a replacement for the vintage V7
It has the same 70's pickups spacing whereas the v9 has 60s spacing
According to Sire’s website, it replaces the V7 swamp ash, not the V7 Vintage. The standard V7 is only available in alder now. They did move the pickups from the 60s to 70s position like the Vintage. The V7 Vintage still appears to be available in both alder and ash.
THANX
M7 vs sire p8 ?
Different pickups. I have both. P8 is brighter. M7 still can growl, just less bright. Both are slap machines.
What happened to Nathan?
the P sounds more organic sounding than the V
Where's Cici gone to?
Is it only me or 7-th series sounds a bit deeper?
Maybe because of the 70s pickup placement
Depends on the type of wood used for the body and maybe they changed something in the pick ups.
Poor old Lee, dude needs a co-host…
Man, how ya gonna demo a Marcus Miller signature and not slap at all?
Marcus Miller!!!!
