Hey! I just got my approval for the Destination Thailand Visa! I submitted it originally on July 3, then they asked for more documentation on July 30: a fresh financial statement, my Spanish ID card, my plane ticket (which is a Catch-22 and a whole different problem...) and a portfolio of my work so I put together a PDF of my latest prototyping projects. And I got the approval today, categorized as a freelance software designer. So I'm good for max of 180 days in-country for the next 5 years which is perfect for my needs. No requirement to put any funds into a bank account or any health insurance like on my old O-A visa and no applying and paying for a re-entry permit every year. The whole process took 2 months but I'm sure they got a flood of applications. Mine was handled by the embassy in Madrid.

You can apply at other embassies. The issue isn't getting approved at other embassies than your home country. The issue is the immigration officer. They may ask why you are not coming from your home country and press you on it.
@@howtomoderate I just arrive Thailand from Penang, my DTV was denied because I saw a broker statement instead a "normal" bank, but I got the 90 days non O visa. And yes, you don't need to apply in your home country, you can apply in any Thai embassy.
@@dontysk thanks for that information. I am trying to apply online through the US embassy while being outside of the US but I was advised to just apply at the embassy where I am instead of doing it this way. Are you self employed or working for a company?
thaaaanks very much for the video, I appreciate it
You're very welcome 🤗
Hi Mike, I have all the requirements for the DTV but my remote job has its headquarters in Singapore. I am a US citizen currently in the Philippines. Will this disqualify me from the DTV visa? Does the remote work have to come from the same country that you are from? How strict are they on this?
It shouldn't matter where your remote job is based. I think they're mostly concerned about the proof of funds in your bank account.
Best of luck and let me know how it goes
@@AbroadInThailand I just called the embassy, you are correct!
@@danielrose6288 Good to know thanks
@@danielrose6288 Did your application get approved?
As someone like me , going to apply for Soft power way ..
i worry about what if i paid for classes big amount of money/ then takes all the documents to the embassy then i get refused for any reason?!
Is there an agency can do that work for me ? Like applying for me a school mauy thai and make the work done ? With Guarantee to return the money if its not accepted by the immigration / except they work fees
The reason they don’t allow the options means that you aren’t able to apply online or at that location given your specific details for that specific visa. So as an America in Thailand you are unable to apply for this visa in the countries that are not selectable. Simple as that
Hi, You need to apply DTV on line out of Thailand .After apply on line and get approved you need to go to Thai embassy (New York, D.C, Chicago and Los Angeles )to get a stamp and/or paper work ( Apply on line from US cost $400 USD, Each country the fee cost difference ). After 6 months in Thailand you can extended another 6 months by going to the Immigration office in Bangkok for the fee of 2,000 Bath ($55 USD). Total of 365 days stay .After that you need to leave Thailand. Then you can go back again without apply again. You can doing this for up to 5 years.
after 5 years you need to apply again and pay another $400 USD.
Submitted mine on Wednesday, June 17th, 2024. Still pending document review as of Saturday morning, June 20th, 2024. It was $400 USD to for the L.A. Embassy.
Awesome. That's great news. Let me know how it goes!
@@AbroadInThailand Absolutely will do. The only thing I'm curious/concerned about is the "Proof of freelance status" because there was NO guidance or examples. So I just uploaded my LLC registration docs showing I own the company. 🤞🏼🤞🏼🤞🏼
Good luck, I'm eager to see how this goes as I'm going to be applying and wondering the same thing.@@ShaneRobinsonArtist
you had to go there in person to the embassy to pay ? i thought you pay online then pick up the visa from there. also usually won't the need the your passport to stick the visa into it ? how can you just collect a visa from the embassy ( is it piece of paper or something ?:)
@@pillowbug999 Submission is entirely online, including payment via credit card.
But I don't yet know if I'll need to go to L.A. to get a physical copy of the Visa or if they'll email it or make it available for download from the portal. I'll definitely need something to present to immigration when entering Thailand.
There is loads of new information about the dtv. A update with correct informations would be appreciated from your audience. At least I assume that 😊
I just applied for a DTV visa through the evisa website, I paid 350€. I have my own business so I just uploaded my business licence. I don't rent an apartment back home so I asked my parents to write me a letter stating that I live with them. It's worth a shot. Do you know how long it takes to get a response from the embassy ? I'm planning to go to Thailand in 12 days, I'm guessing the timing is a bit tight but I figure that if I don't get approved before my trip I'll just go there anyway and get 60 days on arrival stamp. In the event they reject my application and ask me to upload more documents, I won't have to pay the fees again right ?
Did the parents approach work?
Any news on fellas with investment returns only qualifying?
That depends. Do you have the required proof of funds?
The 500,000 and monthly returns in my account yes. I don't know if that counts as a portfolio so I might be checking with Siam legal.
@@e-town0603 That should certainly suffice, but never any shame in asking a legal professional.
@@e-town0603 Did you get an answer?
I have tried calling the Consulate office in Los Angeles and Washington DC and no one answers, good grief!!
Why am I not surprised 🤦♂️
@@chrisd9984 they won’t you need to go there.
Tried both visa and mastercards from USA with the NY consulate selected for everything for the 400$. always kicks back failed transaction no matter what. of course they have NO CONTACT email or help or chat on the entire website... how are you supposed to pay for it? the problem is deff on their end.
Call your bank and have them authorize it
You didn't talk about the most important part which is the travel information. Obviously, if I don't get the visa, I am not going to Thailand, why would they ask the travel information before giving the visa? It doesn't make a whole lot of sense... I am not gonna buy a flight ticket if I don't get the visa... Did I miss something?
Apologies. I leave the decision up to you.
@@misterniceguy67 Thank you! Is this the ONWARD TICKET thing? I will do that. For now let's get the portfolio all together and good bye america
This visa is a long term visa meaning for people who already made up their mind that they want or are living in Thailand.
Other wise a normal stamp visa of one month is enough.
@@reemsaif3105 still doesn’t make sens to purchase your flight ticket upfront
Brilliant, thanks Mike… any idea on whether I need 500k for every applicant? For example for a dependant child
You should only need to show the proof of 500K Baht for one applicant and then sponsor your family members under the DTV Visa
Uk (London) requires residence and for foreigners (A copy of BRP card or letter from UKVI (UK visa) settlement status.
- A letter confirming employment details from an employer in the UK or Ireland ). Also not sure Laos or Malaysia will accept foreigners going there a week to apply. Might be we have to do from our home
Laos and Malaysia don't have e-visa programmes
The closest place I have found that has an embassy with E visa program is China, Guangzhou. Still trialling to see what we can all do to apply without making a long journey home.
@@FILMSCHOOLDROPOUT what about apply to your home embassy but from a near Asian country so once entered Thailand get stamped the visa? I am not sure the home country need the flight reservation
@@pepeee548 That's what I am currently consulting lawyers about If it's possible. The only close by country option I could find through the E-visa portal is China.
@@FILMSCHOOLDROPOUT from China they might ask for non criminal record that takes them 3 weeks to approve at the foreign affairs. I don't recommend it. I also don't know how to apply, currently in BKK and don't wanna fly back to Europe for this
The whole thing is idiotic, sorry. The language is confusing, the requirements are all over the place. And - no letter of good conduct required? That’s interesting. So my neighbour can be a criminal from back home?
How to write sponsorship letter for my girlfriend?
