    Every western guy I know thinks that Thailand or South East Asia is the answer to low cost of living and early retirement. The challenge is as soon as you meet a local girl, no matter who she is, costs go up. Unless you are really earning money you really cannot save. Once you need to settle buy a place, a car and all the other expenses, well you are back to Western life because you don’t have the income to support all these additional costs. I have also seen Western guys fall ill and cannot afford the healthcare. If you need to return to Canada, Thai Baht won’t go very far. Finally if you live in Thailand living this life you really cannot afford to travel and live well that’s the truth. The lifestyle is simple to say the least and there is nothing wrong with that. Happy to be proven otherwise,

      While it's true costs go up by having a Thai partner, my fiancé works a full-time job which helps to support both of us. So it all balances out.

    For those folk who truly want to understand about what THAIS think about all this……. Check out Benarnews Articles Titled “”EXPLAINED: Why Thai analysts are wary of China’s rising influence””” ALSO “”As Chinese buyers snap up Chiang Mai properties, Thais fear for future - BenarNews’”””

  • @mjay6508
    @mjay6508 2 дня назад

    If you’re SUPER RICH….. but for ordinary folks Samui is WAY overpriced, jacking up prices and destroying what was once an idyllic location for one reason only, MONEY!!!!!!!! I was on Samui before you were even born 1980, when there was only ONE place to stay at Lamai Beach. Bamboo huts, no electricity, fish, rice, bananas and black tea for sustenance…. It was purely idyllic….. nothing personal, but all the utoobing and vlogging IS “”NOT A GOOD WAY”” and is simply contributing to the total loss of what once was a true paradise. The more the word gets out, the more people will invade the island , and turn it into what everybody is trying to escape. It’s happening ALL OVER THAILAND…. Phuket, Pattaya Chiang Mai are all already cooked and are mini versions of BANGKOK….. THAILAND is just becoming another mini version of any western country because of all the people hyping the version of Thailand circa 2024. I’m a long long long term expat and seeing what’s happening to Thailand is SADDENING….. and have a few questions “””what’s Thailand going to be like in another 5-10-20 yrs?????”””” and all the hypsters will be directly responsible for its dilution and destruction of what was once the most peaceful unique culture in all of Asia. Do you speak Thai? Or do you expect the Thais to learn English, French, Russian, Mandarin et al??? Have you embraced BUDDHISM? Thailands truly unique religion that informs the THAI way of life, customs and rituals. Do you have a work permit??? As making a living from utoob is deemed WORKING under Thai law, and therefore negates your visa status, therefore disrespecting THAI LAW, the same Thailand most bloggers profess to love…. What gives bloggers the right to come to another country and simply DISREGARD Thai Law??? Other than complete ego and DISRESPECT to their newly found adopted place of refuge, See the contradictions??? I could go on, but it’s so obvious to those who can think what’s REALLY happening on the ground in THAILAND….. it’s being sold out to MONEY by pure ignorance, all under the guise of I found my paradise, so hey all you westerners and Russians and Chinese, just come on over and turn it into what you are all trying to escape…. ………. Revert to Question 1…………….

    • @mjay6508
      @mjay6508 День назад

      @@AbroadInThailand no NOT angry at all!!! SADDENED AS I SAID… I’m just calling it out for what it is and that’s what your ignorance can’t handle. And anybody who doesn’t stroke your limited knowledge of Thailand is deemed angry??? lol I notice you didn’t answer one question because I surmise you DONT speak any Thai, DONT have a work permit, DO NOT embrace BUDDHISM in any form, yet sell yourself as some sort of Samui guru after a few years. That’s called the blind leading the blind. Sorry if FACTS about the REAL REALITY happening now in Thailand offends you, but if you can’t understand how encouraging more and more westerners onto Samui is DETRIMENTAL to local customs then you are seriously deluded and just another noobie pretending to know anything at all about how things really are in Thailand. Buddhism teaches to kill one’s ego, so try embracing some spirituality instead of MONEY, stop pretending to be some local real estate agent used car salesman and read those Articles. You will then see that it is the THAI people themselves who FEAR FOR THE FUTURE OF THEIR OWN COUNTRY because of foreigners like your self who are selling the country out for likes, clicks and MONEY,, …. Nah champ, NOT ANGRY AT ALL, just calling you out for obviously what you are and how you are actually part of the problem for DILUTING AND DESTROYING THAI CULTURE…… it’s called NOOBIE IGNORANCE MASQUERADING AS PRETENDING TO KNOW AND DO SOMETHING WHILE WAITING FOR YOUR INHERITANCE!!!!!!! lol suck up REALITY PRINCESS!!! PS I clearly stated nothing personal,,,,,, but because you got called out on TRUTHS you responded personally with your old jaded expat retort… lol ex Marine here sweety and still got what it takes. Obviously you have NIL RESPECT FOR ANYTHING…….. especially Thailand………

    Recently approved for DTV Visa, can tell you that it is already getting more strict. You may have issues since you are already living and working in Thailand and since you are on youtube it will be very easy to verify. The intent of DTV is to welcome nomads from outside of Thailand to come and explore and spend their foreign funds to benefit the economy and the locals. 500k baht will definitely be required + a portfolio of your work which they will see easily that you are already earning from working in Thailand, again not the intention of this specific Visa. You will also need to be outside of the country for awhile as it is now taking a min of 2-3 weeks and that's if they don't request further docs or deny your initial request. Best bet would be the current 60 day tourist visa or the 1 year language/muay thai visa in which you need to be registered in an accepted program. Alternatively you could leave the country and apply for DTV using the simpler cooking class option. We can argue about the semantics, but this is something you need to attend to ASAP, the more people that get approved means they will be more strict in the future. Good luck and let us know what you decide 🙌

    If you lose your passport you would have to contact the embassy and they would charge you quite a bit to express a new one. Just letting you know what happened to me, I came back very sick from San Diego, passport was in my jeans pocket, waited a week to do laundry and forgot it was in there, it destroyed the passport and I had to order a new one... I think it's a common mistake apart from straight losing it so let's all be mindful.
