    This mission was a great way to start the game and really set the tone of desperation, but I always wished there was at least one mission actually on Palaven. It's the only major planet we never have any interaction with. Hell, there's even two side things to do on Dekunna

      Strategy? there's no strategy there at all. Looks like a massacre, pure domination. Just goes to show how destructive those Reapers can be. Humans are not too far away from that. I mean, they did build the A-Bomb after all. Enough of those could obliterate an entire Planet for goodness sake, and yet they STILL make them 🥴🙄

    Honestly, I wish most of the mass effect 3 would be like this mission, like the cinematic trailer for the game about taking earth back. Massive, dark and depressing war for the survival of the whole galaxy that you eventually manage to win, not the running around solar systems to find and build magical weapon to solve all the problems. This was the peak of this game IMO, at least for me in the vanilla version of the game.

    • @steventan2754
      @steventan2754 5 лет назад +4

      Agreed. And if I'm not mistaken, there was originally going to be a mission on Palaven itself but it was cut out :(

    • @iratepirate3896
      @iratepirate3896 5 лет назад

      I agree with you wholeheartedly. The game's writing was utterly torn in two directions. You had the 'everything is hell, civilisation is collapsing, the Reapers are here' plot violently struggling against the 'mess about with your squad mates, get laid, search for gadgets, make friends, have fun' plot

      I agree 2 they did some ✂ for the MP the end game was suppose to be a boss battle against the illusive man which he turns into some kind of reaper if I'm not mistaken and that dark energy in M.E.2 they ✂ out was part of the end game for M.E.3 wish bioware would do a remaster.

    I remember the first time I saw this scene. The Reapers walking about while Palaven burns in the background. The ships shooting high above the moon. How they'd open fire on the Reapers - only to be destroyed in one hit by the Reaper Beam. The conversations around the camp. A great first mission out of the Sol System. Really set the tone of how out of depth and desperate everyone is in a war that just started hours ago for them.

    I don't know why people hated Mass Effect 3 and the ending. The entire game WAS the ending. We got to see and address all the cool things that we learned about in previous games like Earth, the Turian homeworld, the Quarian Flotilla and the Genophage. We got an ending to character stories like Mordin, Wrex and Legion.

    • @sarevok6
      @sarevok6 3 года назад +8

      I'm with you but I think the last 15-20 mins could have just been done so much better. And honestly, I wouldnt have given us choices in the end. Everyone would have got 1 cannon "destroy" ending and the epilogue would have shown the results of your decisions across the galaxy while the crew of Normandy is stranded in deep space for a future sequel to find their remains and a rotting Normandy.
      I think they spent too much time on the decision branches and cut too much because of EA being garbage, that the end was disapointing to a large extent. If you had Quarians AND Geth, there should have at least been 10 seconds showing them attacking a Reaper over Earth together in the final engagement video.
      All that said, Palaven started the game off in an amazing way and I'm glad EA wasnt able to ruin the majority of the first 95% of the game despite their best efforts.

      Alot of the hate came before the DLCs and extending endings fleshed everything out.

    • @Horny_Fruit_Flies
      @Horny_Fruit_Flies 11 месяцев назад +2

      @@Thextoastxisxbob The extended ending didn't help much. It made some things better, other things worse. The ending is fundamentally flawed, it would have to be completely redone.
      1. It should make sense and not contradict the lore and plot.
      2. It should be significantly more impacted by the choices we make.
      3. It should actually give closure, to the characters we love and to Shepard.

    • @delevoyeguillaume9126
      @delevoyeguillaume9126 9 месяцев назад

      @@Horny_Fruit_Flies I really disagree with what you wrote
      1. The first ending was more useless/cheap than contradictory. In fact it gives so few precise answers that I don't see how it could even contradict anything else in the lore. The Leviathan mission fixed this frustration by bringing interesting and coherent lore details and explanations about why reapers exist (validates @Thextoastxisxbob 's point about DLCs)
      2. You do get to decide whether the main character survives, you can destroy all the synthetics in the galaxy, decide what the quarians and geth will become, whether you end the genophage, whether many people die or survive, the very vast majority of the characters can die or survive in ME2...Hell you can even chose to NOT save the galaxy and let the cycle continue if you want - it's absurd but you can ! As a player you're literally the galactic Jesus in this game... What other impact do you wish the player could have on the global ending ? 😅
      3. Let's imagine for a moment that once you launch the citadel DLC, a message prints in the game saying "Hello dear player ! Once you start this mission, you cannot go back finish any more quest and will have to finish the game. Are you sure you want to continue ?"... Then Admiral Hackett pops in and say that you have a shore leave while he finishes preparing the fleet. You do the Citadel DLC. After the shore leave, Hackett is back online : the fleet are mobilizing. Priority Earth starts immediately with the Normandy fully staffed after their shore leave, ready for a last suicide mission...
      ... Would you think then that you had a closure with everyone ?
      Many people agree that the citadel DLC is part of the ending and wait the very end of the game to do it. You can do that too if you want

    Something that strikes me is how ancient this sounds. You can hear the old underneath the new. You hear more of the electronic, but the flute is still there as the base. Just like Palaven and the Turian civilization. Perhaps you cannot hear it so clearly, but it's still there. Palaven, the origin, persists in the music. Just as it does for Turians.
