My wildfire spirit is a vulture. Her fire seed is her regurgitating flaming bones and meat. After a battle she eats the enemies. On top of that my Druid had a pet chinchilla who she’s gives the ashes from encounters to
Really miss having firebolt and fireball from the UA. Firebolt was a nice way to have access to fire damage without spending a slot, especially when druids have so few cantrips. Also I like having fireball over revivify because I don't like casting spells with a gold cost on a druid
The fact that you had firebolt for free was good, you can always take produce flame instead for d8. Personaly I'd rather have revivify always ready then fireball. This just mean that you have to wait for 4th lvl spells to make "massif" AOE fire damage. I'm more sad about the resurection ability that lost it's explosion effect. It would have be so epic to turn the tides completly.
@@fenrykbel7970 Revivify is a good spell to have prepped, but not as necessary when Tasha's added it to the druid spell list. Also I liked how in the UA had one fire/destruction spell and one plant/life spell. It was a nice way to balance the death and rebirth flavor the class has. The nerf to the capstone does suck, I wish they had changed the 10th level ability around instead
@@fenrykbel7970 revivify is pretty useless as a spell always prepared if your allies never die. I would much rather they had a bomb than a defibrillator -that they can already prepare. Fire guys should bring the ruckus.
@@elliotbryant3459 I guess it depends on the DM if you're put in life threatening danger or not. Personaly I'd rather have a defibrillator always in my pocket without even having to think about it than a bomb. Also DM dependent, not every problem can be solved by fireball. Ofc fireball will be missed.
This is literally my favorite Druid subclass. It might not be the most powerful but there is sooo much flavor and zest put into this subclass that definitely makes up for not being a “spotlight” character
This is a pretty cool circle that’s for sure. On another note, I was watching some of your earlier videos for the heck of it and I’ve noticed a really big jump in quality when it comes to the audio, so good on that for you guys, super excited for the next classes.
The Fiery Teleportation ability is probably more useful as the wildfire spirit's primary damage dealing ability than as an actual teleport. It will do more damage than the Flame Seed in a lot of circumstances, and it's free AOE damage with your bonus action every turn.
@@5-Volt Completely agree! Plus I don't hear many folks pointing out that the spirit has 30 ft. fly/hover. You can summon it above a group of enemies, then have it teleport above them again and keep it out of melee combat, then move it back down to rinse and repeat. Same goes with casting spells through the spirit, raining them down from above.
So, I'm playing a Changeling Cleric of Light who multi-classed into a Wildfire Druid. He's a worshipper of Sirrion god of Change and Fire, so we'll see how that goes!
I personally think the wildfire druid is really good. I played a circle of dreams druid and this does a really good job of being able to fill in as the party healer if you don't want to be a cleric. But it also has a great role for a secondary healer and the parties full caster who does controlling and can rip out some damage. The wildfire spirit let's you use your bonus action to basically get free cantrip level damage while doing other stuff like healing or more importantly concentration spells that druids have in abundance. The extra d8 on your fire and healing spells is really for the spirit to do extra damage on your bonus while you get a free improvements on your heals and/or you can do your hold spells or other concentration abilities. I personally think this makes the class synergy and combat value higher than you've rated it, but that's just my opinion though.
I love the flavor of the fire druid but when you read the abilities, it's more like a clericy druid. Having so many spells pre-prepared + your prepared spells makes a lot of possibilities for one day. The extra d8 on fire and heal doesn't look like much but adding a d8 to a healing word can double the healing. They could have made it extra clericy by giving 2d8 at 14th lvl. The spirit can really act like a battlefield medic flying into danger casting cure wounds and bamfing "away" from danger with AOE damage. This druid doesn't look good for encounters with one or two big guy but man it would make goblins poops on the batllemap with a bunch of AOE damage, controle, "landmines".
From the wording it seems like to me in order to cast cure wounds it would have to be within 5ft range already at the start of a turn. You use your action to cast cure wounds through your pet, then your bonus action to command it to teleport away and then on its turn right after yours it would be able to do what you commanded. Am I wrong? I want to play a wildfire druid and I wanna know if I'm understanding it right. Would it be possible to command your pet to swoop in, then heal, then teleport away through like a readied action?
I really enjoy the theme of this subclass, reminding me of the episode of Avatar The Last Airbender where they learned the true origins of fire . I think the only thing I wish they would have kept from the UA was the spell fireball. You would think a circle of wildfire druid would have access to this, but unfortunately it doesn't. I as a DM would allow a druid to have access to such a spell
I love this subclass. I’m about to play it in the new upcoming campaign at the game shop. Cure wounds is always prepared, toooooooooo good to pass up. Earth Tremor from your spirit or Faerie Fire on the long distance archers so the Rancher/Fighter/Rogue get advantage. Just a really good Subclass
In the Wildfire Spirit text, it is not written that it moves or has reactions when it is in Combat other than Battle Smith and Primal Companion, do you think this was a flaw in the text or is it intentional? An enemy is approaching the spirit and the spirit remains still, even though it has more wis and int than the Battle Smith and the Primal Companion, and even if the enemy leaves the spirit space, the spirit does not have an attack of opportunity.
Today is nostalgia day I guess. Alex is reminding me of the Barbarian/Fighter that wore an upside down sign with his name around his neck, so when he turned it up his name was facing him so he could read it and remember his name.
Correct, but what we are saying about it is that it can be almost completely ineffective sometimes if you are fighting a small number of creatures as you won’t get these flames very often if you are only fighting a couple enemies in an encounter. Thanks for watching!
The artwork for this class in the book really dosen't fit when I hear Wildfire Druid I don't imagine some random peaceful looking Druid with a fire animal I imagine a rather intimidating Druid with fire wildly swirling around him and his arms/hands Kinda like a Pyromancer lol
I love how balanced this class feels as a caster. Healing and destroying with fantastic flavor.
