This cheat sheet!!! Girl!!!💁♀️This is exactly the detailed layout that is soooo needed! It’s also extremely well laid out and aesthetically pleasing😊 The time and effort that you put into this is beyond me. You just made my life and the lives of so many others so much easier. Plus all the fur babes that will benefit from their parents being well informed. Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! You are such an amazing, hardworking person!
I love your videos thanks so much for taking the time to make them! Even seasoned raw feeders like me (10 years+) can make food more balanced. I’ve tweaked some of my dogs bowls( PMR base) and am now adding small amount of purée fruit & veg. I also did not know about cooked oysters for zinc before! I highly suggest any new and old raw feeders to watch your videos because of the accessibility of so much info that you break down in a fun and informative way!
a relative of mine switched her dog from a kibble to homemade cooked diet because her dog has so many health problems. being the big fat dog nerd that i am, i was stoked to hear this. you can only imagine my disappointment when i was told it was cooked chicken breast, cooked ground beef, and a mixture different vegetables. she said that a bunch of health problems have seemingly cleared up, but i can't help but feel bad for the dog, given how wildly unbalanced the diet is.
I've had my boy a week tomorrow, he's 8 weeks I started him raw straight away now I'm listening to him chew mouse bones. Still learning and constantly concerned hes gettjng what he needs but I know its the only way and better than what would be on the street ❤️❤️
Love this channel, great work! This channel deserve more subs. Keep it up! My dog used to eat raw since 6mos old, he started eat much less and often refuse to eat. I visited the vet and checked he's doing good with his body, except losing some muscles, how can I encourage him to eat more / more variety of food? He's quite a picky and stubborndog. Your suggestions are much appreciated, thank you.
I suck at math so cheat sheet my only hope for my animals I don’t want them to lack in this raw diet . I’m just putting tiny pieces of different meats to get cat used to it he’s not wanting to eat it so much yet Thanks for the sheet Cricket
So say I figure out my puppy needs 585 calories a day, how do I figure out how many oz of meat that is (and how many oz of each type of meat) because all the different cuts are different calories. So are the % based off % of the total weight of the meal or % of total calories of the meal? Am I being dumb lol idk If my puppy is 5 lbs (80 oz) when I get him he’ll need MER = 585 calories a day. My example meal fits the calorie intake (585) but it’s a total of 13.8 oz which is 17% of his current puppy weight! Is that okay? What does “ideal weight” on your cheat sheet mean? Is it the expected adult weight? Example meal: Muscle: Chick drum (5.7 oz) chk gizzard (2.7 oz) Chk heart (1.7 oz) Bone: Chicken neck (1.6 oz) Chicken wing (0.2 oz) - I guess like 1-2 wing tips 2nd secreting organ choices: A) Beef spleen or kidney (1.4 oz) B) sweetbreads (0.6 oz) Liver: Pork liver (0.5 oz)
i can't feed my dog with bone she doesn't have teeth and i am not able to ground the meaty bone, so can i replace with bone meal and in that case , will i need to change the amount of the other meats and organs?
Why can I not get the cheat sheet? I even had my friend Pay $20 to sign up on your site but we cannot get your sheet and I really want it. I live in Alberta Canada. Help Please.
If I am replacing raw meaty bone with bonemeal do I replace the bone percentage (12%of the diet) with muscular tissue? For example instead of 50% muscular tissue do I make it 62% muscular tissue?
Can I ask a question that has really been confusing me recently? I know the 80/10/10 BARF regime which I have been using for about 18 months. I started on pre-mades and have gradually switched to DIY. The BARF diet suggests 10% bone. But I have heard that there is a limited amount of acid that your dog can produce and it stresses the digestive system when feeding bones (though they are necessary not just for the diet but also for the teeth). I saw a study recently that suggested (though it was very clear to state that it was only preliminary findings and more research was necessary) dogs that were fed once daily generally tended to be healthier than dogs fed twice or more. Whether this was due to fasting/less stress on the digestive system/other, who knows. I keep hearing that you should give your dog a bone twice a week for it's teeth. Is this in addition to the bone fed daily with the usual meal or inclusive? Am I causing my dog unnecessary digestive stress by feeding the 10% bone allocation both in the morning and at night? That is what I used to do but I have switched to just giving muscle meat/organs etc in the morning and bones with the meal at night. It seems logical (to me anyway) that if bone contributes to the firmness of the stool, not feeding with every meal would result in soft stools. Any pointers would be hugely appreciated.
Don't overthink it and don't stress. You can feed bone in every meal if you want to. Recreational bones will not give your dog much nutrition, it's basically for their teeth and entertainment. if you're doing DIY you can grind up bones in the mix or you can give things like chicken feet or chicken necks or turkey necks etc.
I remember watching a video from you a while ago. You mention doing these percentages and I was wondering if this is still a good basis to go off of? 80% muscle meat 10% bone 5% liver 5% other secreting organs.
My 3 months old golden is on premade 80/10/10 so every day I add different stuff like kelp power, quail eggs, homemade broth, homemade Kefir sardines! So what else can I use?
I have a question regarding omega 6 and omega 3. I see everyone is putting lean meat in their recipes and then add something for omega 3. It is like everything is high in omega 6 and lean meats provide enought omega 6 for the dog. And the only thing missing is omega 3 and ratio will be perfect. But what about dogs that don't eat enough calories to maintain healthy body weight. If dog need 3:1 ratio and need 75-100mg per kg of omega 3 then it needs 225-300mg per kg of omega 6 to meet the ratio. Just feeding dog lean meat will not get to 225 mg of omega 6. So giving 75 mg of omega 3 will have lower ratio. I calculated caloric needs for my dog and feeding him lean meat with 75 mg per kg of omega 3 the ratio is only 2:1. Surely in this case you would feed less lean meat to increase omega 6 and get 3:1 ratio?
having issues with getting raw meaty bone because i think my dog has a chicken allergy and that's the most abundant meat at the grocery. i'm down to feeding ox tail and pig tails right now. how do i account for food allergy? also can you recommend a good bone saw? my cleaver can't cut through some bones
I hate to break it to you but the nrc's numbers aren't exactly perfect. They're all based on synthetics for their sources in the studies done to get these numbers have a lot of issues however it is at least a place to start. FEDIAF and AAFCO do have slightly different recommendations on certain things we are also other places you can use to start.
I’m feeding my dogs raw, and have used your calculator to make sure they’re getting everything. I’ve aaaalmost got it right (some things I can’t source in NZ) but my dogs eat grass every day, and one of them sporadically gets ear infections. Do you know why?
Nah fool, the purpose of this video is to subconciously make you think that kibbles are easier to feed to dogs. If she really cared, this would have been much more simpler. It's a huge lobby.
@@vishlycan2435 I am dragged here by youtube algorithm, raw food is dangerous due to current poultry outbreaks, I would never suggest anyone to feed raw food.
Your videos are very well done but you make it so complicated that you immobilize more people than you motivate. No matter how "easy" you say it is, you're not doing it the easy way. I've never paid the slightest attention to "balance" and I've home prepped a raw diet to all my animals for 25 years. I've had nothing but long lived dogs and zero vet bills in all that time. I have never given a supplement to a dog or cat. You show clips of someone sitting in a doctor's office and then claim that when that happens, nutrient deficiency is the cause. Hogwash! This idea has empowered and enriched the supplement industry. The reason people get sick is EXCESS, not deficiency! Excess garbage food, excess fat, excess calories, excess everything except real, biologically appropriate food. Good grief, look at the wild model. Wolves and other wild dogs don't eat like this.
My dog isn't currently on a raw diet. But I always watch these videos so I'm ready when I start 💪
good job! you can also try a premade raw until you're ready to make diy
