  • This is a very short movie showing a transom upgrade for a 6hp 4 stroke outboard on a SIB. (Soft Inflatable Boat). You may want to add a safety chain or rope to your outboard if concerned about the transom structure. * Please note: This upgrade is at your own risk, so ensure proper safety guidelines are followed in your country.
The boat was bought from BCF in Australia in 2020 and had a low transom.
Four stroke outboards have a 17” shaft and some inflatable boats only have a 15” transom. The anti-cavitation plate should be just below the bottom of the boat. This upgrade ensures the outboard is still safe in the event you hit a sand bank or rock, yet can be removed when folding your boat away. Parts were from Bunnings and Road Tech Marine. Pause the movie to see which parts were used or use the list below. Thank you.

This is EXACTLY what I've been looking for!! 😃 I have the same motor and pretty much the same boat. Did some test runs and noticed excessive drag and not getting any planing going. Will try this! Thanks! 👍🏻

Is your outboard a short shaft?
