2021 Hydro-Force SIB with Accessories Review [$999 from BCF]
This is a detailed review of my Bestway Caspian Pro Hydro-Force soft inflatable boat (SIB). It was bought on a clearance sale for $600 AU from BCF and excludes the accessories listed below. My boat is 7 months old and still working well. This is not a boat comparison review, however just useful information for anyone considering a SIB. The accessories make great gift ideas. Thank you and enjoy the movie.

SIB Transom Upgrade [15” increased to 17”]

This is a very short movie showing a transom upgrade for a 6hp 4 stroke outboard on a SIB. (Soft Inflatable Boat). You may want to add a safety chain or rope to your outboard if concerned about the transom structure. * Please note: This upgrade is at your own risk, so ensure proper safety guidelines are followed in your country. Suzuki DF6A review with soft inflatable boat 🔴 [6hp with hydrofoil]
Просмотров 74 тыс.3 года назад
I am a first time owner of a new Suzuki 6hp 4 stroke. The outboard was bought in 2020 and is used with a BCF Bestway - Hydroforce Caspian Pro inflatable boat. The objective of this combination is having an ultra portable boat that can be used by teens as well. * No sponsors were involved for this review. Everything is purchased myself. 1. ATTENTION: It is very important that you choke it, AND aim the arrow on the twist throttle straight towards the choke symbol painted on the control arm, just as depicted at exactly 0:26 in this video. Mine will not hit a lick until you do these two things if the engine is cold. If you do this however, it will start after sitting in 1 or 2 pulls every time. Also, keep fresh gas in it and drain the carburetor bowl every time you shut it off for the day, just in case something happens and you don't use it for a week or two. This takes me less than a minute to do on my DF6, and it is so worth the effort. And if you have a choice, never put anything but ethanol-free gas in any small outboard. Ethanol is pure poison to small engines with carburetors, and will clog them in as little as 2 weeks if you make any carb maintenance mistake at all, so don't chance it if you don't have to. This is true with all small outboards of any make. In my opinion, the DF6 is as good as it gets as long as you take small carb maintenance seriously.

    I just bought a 2023 DF6A for my 1232 aluminum jon boat, and am waiting for it to arrive. It is the lightest outboard in the class by several pounds, which is very important at my rather advanced age. And among other things, that oil level inspection window is very nice to have. Suzuki is much more keen to give it to you than other manufacturers too... at least this is true on their motorcycles. I've owned over 40 motorcycles, and only the 3 Suzuki's had oil inspection windows. My Suzukis were also rock solid and reliable. I still have 2 of them, and I wish all my bikes had been as economical to purchase, as long-lived, and as easy to own. This will be my first Suzi outboard, and only my 3rd outboard period, but I have 100% confidence in the brand. As far as I can tell, nobody gives you more for hard earned cash than Suzuki. I would even suggest that this is their "specialty". Thanks for the video, and the tips for some great accessories.👍

    Stay away from this engine. Suzuki screwed us. We had a 2018 and had to junk the motor, because every time we tried to start it after sitting for a few days, the exhaust valve would be stuck, no compression or bent push rod. Went to authorized repair facility, they replaced everything from the cam up thru the valve train and also the cylinder head. Same problem. Suzuki would not let us talk to anyone and hung up on us. There are numerous complaints about this problem on the forums. Good for a boat anchor. We were told there were no complaints, and that Suzuki had never heard of the issue. There is some kind of problem that doesn’t let the moisture from the exhaust valve area vent, so this causes corrosion on the valve stem and resulting stuck valve.

      I wish someone here in the US would have owned up to the problem with the sticking exhaust valve. We had to finally get rid of the engine. Absolutely no customer support from Suzuki. They wouldn’t even admit to having an issue with their valves, even when it was mentioned on several Internet forums. A lot of the people couldn’t get the problem resolved, like us, and had to junk the engine.

    • @seanudal
      @seanudal 2 года назад

      Hi, I did compare to other 6hp and the Suzuki is the lightest. The 3 way carry options was good as the Honda did not have this. It is still running very well after a year. You can go very slow however a 1 piston engine shakes a bit. I was looking at a Yamaha and have owned a Yamaha before. The dealer in our city was not as keen to market the Yamaha. The Suzuki dealer was better in my city. After sales service is another important part of the purchase. This may be different in each city and country.

  • @axscdvfb
    @axscdvfb 3 года назад

    I have the same motor. It wouldn’t start after storage, because I left fuel inside the gas tank and the carburetor. After removing the old fuel and cleaning the carb, it worked fine. I think the best practice is to drain the carb every time after you use it, and put fuel stabilizer in the tank. Don’t repeat my mistake 😂 These engines are very finicky because the carbs have very small holes which are easily blocked by dried up fuel.

    • @powerswearingfluids
      @powerswearingfluids Год назад

      yes, exactly the same problem. But this year I am going to follow a recommendation I heard. I'll just put fuel stabilizer in the tank- only 25 ml per 5 liters(liquimoly) and I will not drain the carburetor because otherwise the seals will dry up and my friend told that fuel stabilizer works perfectly- every time a problem free start- I hope it will work

      @@inservioverum Thanks man I'm excited. Just got a new suzuki 6 hp for my jon boat. We go bass fishing on the lakes. I heard there's a 10 hour break-in period where you idle for the first hour. Then gradually cruise at low rev.

    • @inservioverum
      @inservioverum 3 года назад

      @@bradhuskers I've read about that break in procedure for the Suzuki and very similar break in procedures for other marine engines. I firmly believe in following manufacturer recommendations for break in procedures. Its a bit frustrating with each new engine but the payoff is well worth the effort... optimal performance, efficiency and longevity after an appropriate break in. Definitely vary the throttle position every couple minutes the first few hours.

    • @bradhuskers
      @bradhuskers 3 года назад

      @@inservioverum Thanks again!! Will do. Quick question. I transport my jon boat in my truck bed. So I have to lay down the suzuki motor when the boat is in .my truck. With the propeller facing upward on a rubber mat, will it leak oil or gas?

    • @inservioverum
      @inservioverum 3 года назад

      @@bradhuskers Always turn the fuel valve off when its being transported. My 2006 Suzuki DF6 has a picture of a person carrying the engine... turning the fuel valve to that side shuts off fuel flow from the gas tank. Also I lay the engine on the opposite side of the gear shift lever when storing it inside or while driving it around. The carburetor is also on the opposite side of the gear shift lever. The carburetor should be above the engine (highest point) when being transported to prevent engine oil from exiting the air intake of the carburetor. I never had any fuel or oil leak out transporting it on its side (opposite of gear shift lever). One important thing I need to remember is to turn off the fuel valve and let the engine idle until the carburetor is completely out of gas, engine will simply stall when carburetor dries out. A dry carburetor will stay clean while being stored as opposed to stale gas corroding it and leaving varnish all over the tiny openings in it.
