    Those elevators Remind me of the Washington Trust Building in Washington Modded in the 60's the top floor is locked and they run basically the same. But again WHAT AN AMAZING ELEVATOR!

    I almost got stuck on a vintage OTIS a few days ago. It decided to start working again before the security guard with us could radio out to the staff.

      As much as i love riding vintage elevators, it's quite scary if you get stuck in one, especially if it doesn't have a phone!

    • @ElevationStationProductions
      @ElevationStationProductions 9 лет назад

      Yah. Vintage elevators do not have the technology that we are used to, which makes them seem somewhat eerie.

    • @elevatordailies
      @elevatordailies 8 лет назад

      +Elevation Station Productions Vintage are more reliable. Most of the stuff today not so much.

      The Elevator Daily I know, but some new features, such as battery backup, weren't around in the older times. You're right though, vintage is overall better

      Vintage elevators are awesome, don't get me wrong, but they lack certain safegaurds we are used to.

    2 questions :
    1. What the "Cancel" button does ?
    2. What the "No stop" button does?

    • @edgarmartinez7371
      @edgarmartinez7371 4 года назад

      The *(Call) Cancel* button will erase the user's floor request (sends the elevator to nearest floor relative to position in which the button is triggered). *No Stop* sends the elevator to the selected floor whilst ignoring requests from outside.

      According to loopnet, this building was built in 1914 and the elevators used to be manually controlled but as you can tell they got modded in the 50s/60s with an automatic relay logic controller and otis black button fixtures

    ***** At 0:45, the Joseph Smith Memorial Building has a very similar floor layout. Where this building counts its floors as *B, 1, Mezzanine, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10*, the Joseph Smith Memorial Building counts its floors as *LL, L, Mezzanine, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10*.

      Are you talking about the Joseph Smith Memorial Building in Salt Lake City, UT?

      upanddownadventures Yes. This conversation thread weaves itself very close to home for me.

      Do you know of any vintage/antique elevators in the Salt Lake City area? I have been to that area before, and there is a chance I might travel there again sometime.

    • @scratchpad7954
      @scratchpad7954 8 лет назад

      upanddownadventures I imagine there would probably be some in the Kearns building near Gallivan Plaza. You could also try Exchange Place. Personally, I've never been in either building, but there is some beauty in vintage technology. I saw a late 1950s Otis at the A. Ray Olpin Student Union Building on the campus of the University of Utah. Unfortunately, it was down for maintenance when I saw it in the summer of 2015, probably modernization.

      @@LeonardoFruet Not really, but we're excited about them regardless as they're just so much better than hydraulics when it comes to speed, energy efficiency, and invasiveness. Hydraulics, however, are cheaper to install (although due to their poor energy efficiency, will likely be more expensive in the long run)

    One elevator has a bumper on its inner door and the other one has not. WTF?

    • @xHadesStamps
      @xHadesStamps 3 года назад

      IKR? Modernize one with an electric eye (after they've already been modernized with doors equipped with safety bumpers, as well as automatic control) but leave the other bumper? Weird as heck!
