I challenge any other cover band to beat these guys on the details. Just check out their assorted videos of perfectly replicated originals on their extensive channel. Beyond amazing talent thru and thru. Love this stuff!
LLB is by far my favorite cover band, but you gotta check out the Leonid and Friends version of this song with Alex Poz singing and absolutely nailing the guitar as good as it gets.

This shows that talent is world wide: For example Lexington Band to Leonide and Friends are just two of cover bands that play the tunes right. 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
this is awesome, right down to the foot pedal on the cowbell, truly great musicians. Keep it going. I started watching these guys around midnight and the next thing I knew the sun was coming up
I agree brother. This is probably the most undiscovered gem on youtube. Steely Dan is some out of the norm stuff and Lexington Lab hit another home run.
What is so great about LLB is that these re-creations are clearly done out of love for the music. And so many different people are involved. The video shoots are so well done and always capture the playing and vocals of each member. A million hits would be nice but at least we found these diamonds in the haystack of YT. There is nothing that even comes to these Steely Dan covers anywhere on the web.
This is an extremely difficult lead vocal to duplicate without over doing it; and to me it was spot on; while allowing the horn section and keyboards to take the bridge by backing the vocals without over doing it. Not only were Steely Dan perfectionists they were amazing musicians Skunk Baxter et al. which makes this rendition amazing because it’s as good as the original since you even managed to put your own spin on it. That’s saying a lot because SD is one of my favorite bands and this is one of my favorite songs. Take a group bow you made SD proud.
@ Absolutely that’s why I was so impressed because they are one of my top 5 bands of all time; to me their music is timeless. Many bands get the music part down for the most part but badly miss on the vocals. I think when you have an iconic voice like Lou Graham Tom Petty Stevie Nicks (you get the idea ) that its a mistake to try to be to perfect with the vocals because then it’s just a cover; but what’s separates you guys from 99% of everybody else is you guys do tributes because you put your own spin on it. A perfect example was the keyboards and the guitar bridges for REOs Roll with the Changes. IT WAS BETTER then the original. I actually saw a video of SD My old school that completely omitted one of the most iconic guitar solos in rock music. If your interested in an amazing version on U tube look up Burklee school of musics version

@@robertbyington7715 That is so cool! Steely Dan has always been in my top five favorites of all time.
Donald Fagen did the lead vocal on the original, and even he would admit he has the vocal talents of perhaps Jerry Lewis, i.e. not that impressive, so the vocalist here did a fine job which probably exceeded the original. The original guitar solos were done by Denny Diaz, I believe, after Fagen and Becker tried many other top guitarists and were not satisfied with what they heard. This guitarist did not attempt an exact note for note replication, but did do many similar riffs very well, though he was very slightly behind a few times. Still, great job, I don’t think I have heard any better other than the original. Nice brass arrangements and execution, my favorite being the riff after “California, tumbles in to the sea.” Great job!
Great rendition as always! More Jim Carpenter! That guy rocks the guitar. And Liz Barber on backup vocals is always a treat. She is so good on so many songs.
Heard this song on FM radio in the summer of '73 and bought their "Countdown To Ecstasy" album the next day. Brilliant horn arrangement by the late-great Jimmie Haskell, and my all-time favorite lead guitar performance by Jeff "Skunk" Baxter. Thanks to all of you here for putting in the years of practice to play Steely Dan songs this well.
Have never heard a more professional cover band. Consistently exceptional performances regardless of the particular mix of musicians on any given song. Thanks for keeping the best of the best classics alive.
Just bought a bunch of your tunes from different albums. Still love watching you perform. So. freakin. Talented. Your studio work is…just wowza. The Zepp Suites are brilliant.
Thanks so much for watching! Don’t forget to subscribe to the channel and turn on the alerts for upcoming content. You’re not going to want to miss it!
I think LLB had more people willing to play for free and happily donated their time when they heard that an amazing band was going to cover Steely Dan!🎶👍
Every aspect of this song is perfect. Vocals, horns, piano, drums, and guitars were so spot on that your efforts are virtually indistinguishable from the Steely Dan original. You folks are amazing. Please don’t stop.
Steely Dan was awesome and LLB brings this tune to another level. This is so so so good. Everyone does their parts so well. Jim Carpenter was amazing on guitar and Jessica,Liz, and Amanda are just incredible. The horns sound so good. You guys totally nailed this one. I enjoy watching you guys have so much fun doing these songs. This is why I spend hours after hours watching and listening to your videos. You guys are the very best. You always put a smile on my face and joy in my heart. Thanks everyone for all that you do to make this happen.
I've said this in other videos, but your Steely Dan covers are exceptional! This is a particularly hard song to do, because it's so 'different' (even for them). LOVED the guitar solo(s). Not exact duplicates of the original... but pays homage while making it YOURS! Excellent!
Excellent ***** Video production, and the music. All outstanding. If I had a dollar for every time I heard this song I could retire. . . .. but wait, I am retired. This is definitely a "stop whatever you are doing, turn it up and just listen" piece..
Wow thank you for doing my favorite steely Dan song ever that was absolute perfection beautifully done thank you thank you thank you a thousand thumbs up 👍👍👍👍
Massive SD fan for 45 years impossible to do a better job than this. This band is phenomenal their Eagles covers are immaculate . Fantastic musicians all of them. Thanks for sharing
Where do you get such great musicians? There’s never no disappointment when listening to Lexington Lab band.
Jim Carpenter was awesome on the guitar!
Best part of the video in my opinion

Maybe Leonids group
L&F are a great bunch of people but they're just a lap down from LLB.
@@jimratliff2753 i,m not so sure, to me its a close call on this song with leonid and friends with the rox bros.
Love it! You guys nailed it!
Realize how hard those guitar solos are to imitate.

Right?!
DAMN fine job guys... Damn fine!

You hit the nail on the head buddy. 😂
So glad to hear Steely Dan music being played at a high level, and add in the fact that these songs are still relevant 50 years later.
Know what you mean but what does relevancy mean today? Not too much…

Only brilliant musicians can do these type of songs.
Fact!
Check out Salem Boyz version on RUclips...A band that plays together 1 week per year. You won't believe it.

YES ! Bring back the brass into music !
Agreed !
this is sad.. a thousand views.. ?? all of their covers are spot on.. some better than the originals. great musicians.. keep rocking guys..

Better than originals??? Come on now.
Any band attempting to cover any Steely Dan song, and succeeding to this high level has to be applauded. In other words, Wow, thank you!
Believe me, there’s nothing like standing around jamming, having some fun, sounding good and getting paid for it. Wala!
Awesomeness again and again by LLB
Great cover!
Unfriggenly believably great version of the Dan song!
Tom's vocals are perfect for Steely Dan, great job.
Spot on...
Couldn't agree more. He sounds so good that I wish he had been on the studio recordings so as to enjoyed for all the past years.
Steely Dan were always perfectionists and they would be proud of your cover. Splendid job!
Really appreciate this!
ditto!
The guitar work on this song is sooo good. But heck everyone hit the bullseye! 😎👍

Just like listening to my old vinyl!!
Always love that moment (here at 3:40) when California tumbles into the sea to the bleat of a baritone sax.
Back up singers are spot on ! Fabulous job to everyone . Brass phenomenal . Loved all of it
Nailed it! Again!
100% perfect! That Denny Diaz solo must have been daunting! Excellent vocals all around!
Jeff Baxter played the lead breaks on this track
The Skunk took the lead on this One ..

Great rendition. Kudos to the backup singers and horn section who never get as much praise as the strings (which are spot on)
