Here is some additional info I would like to add about Number 2: While stacking mitigation suffers from diminishing returns, stacking damage buffs has the opposite effect, as it also applies multiplicatively. Meaning if you have 5 buffs each giving you a 10% damage boost you get 1.1*1.1*1.1*1.1*1.1 = 1.61051. So about 61.05% instead of only 50%. This is also why you synchronize your raid buffs every 2 minutes and want to pot during burst phases.
absolutely valid! would've been worth mentioning for sure, as like you said, that's a major reason we are (for better or worse) saddled with the 2 minute meta, LOL
I mean potting is good but for somewhat different reasons with effectually the same results. Pots give you main stat. They do not give dmg%, like say, Lance Charge. Potting is just an AxB equation. Strength x Potency x Determination x Crit x Skill damage buff. This is a very basic formula and not necessarily 100% accurate, but this gets the idea across. It is still exponentially good though because main stat is so early in the equation so the rest of your kit and buffs are improving the effects of the pot.
1 thing i found out the hard way was that when you store a dyed item in the armoire, the dye will be deleted from the item. I did this with an item that had a jet black in it. I do not understand why this is a thing, it makes no sense to me.
i think maybe its because the system dont actually store your items in the armoire more like you have access to the armoire version of that item ? maybe thats why its so difficult to increase glam dresser slots ? like the game duplicates items to store in glam dresser/armoire/retainer/chocobo saddlebags ?
@@Shiirow The way you talk implies that you really believe it's a redundant thing.The game doesn't tell you the dye gets deleted. Nothing indicates it. I don't think it's a stupid assumption to make, that you can store the item and have it come back with the dye intact. Maybe I didn't want to store anything in the dresser because it was full due to the 400 slot limit and didn't want to take anything out of it? I mean it's only fair to look for other ways to store items.
@@zydeox1221 less redundancy i think but more each player char has several inventory that contains every item that inventory can hold and putting an item in said inventory, "activates" the item in that inventory. but me not a programmer so this is just a wild guess. based on you can have several unique items if those items arent in the same inventory
if you're doing UwU, you're specifically taking more damage to fill it up. you get 3 LBs from the primal awakenings, but need a 4th for the last Ultima, so you need to fill that bar.
On topic of macros, mouse over macros on healer if youre on pc. literal game changer. For example healing TEA where you have to dispell in order with little to no downtime, it saved so many lives to just be able to esuna spam mouse over while still targeting the boss and healing. Never have to drop target, and my healing is SNAPPY.
I'm a Standard Wiggler, and getting used to different controls at this point will just annoy me :p (I like slowly back-stepping to adjust my position in tiny gaps between AoEs)
Great video! For number 6 ya should've shown how you can strafe keep uptime with ur while turned around during Snake 2 would've been a good example and super relevant!
You have to be careful when facing away and using weaponskills because they still face you towards enemies even if nothing changes visually. I have been caught *several* times in gaze mechanics trying to abuse this "trick". I just don't do it anymore.
It's not really a hidden mechanic but an appeal to controlling what is hidden; please consider using macros to toggle multiple UI elements. I never did this till a month ago and I'm caught up with games story, so I could only imagine newer players having a more pleasant experience if they could soak in the world more when action isn't happening and having a third of the screen not hogged by tools not needed 1/3rd of the time. The macro toggles themselves can be very few as well because you can divide them based on HUD layout in a broader sense. I personally have an on-off for a BattleOn/BattleOff and a GeneralOn/GeneralOff to cover a multitude of UI that only applies to either category. So that is 4, plus 2 different mounts I happen to be using for land/air travel respective, 2 more for the teleport/return, 1 for /chagepose, and the last one I made was to switch to a final hud layout where everything was the same but the job gauge was simplified and my 10 bar master macros cover them... because you still cant hide job gauges and I'm still extremely annoyed by that. Keeping that singular bar of 10 macros close to the log window makes them accessible to the max with the least amount of screen real estate being taken, plus I can quickly hide the log window by right clicking into it's options. And I guess if you had even more patience than me in setting that up you could set timers to your preference based on things like mouse movement or proximity to a targetable enemy. It does sound like allot of set up already, but I promise you the difference of having this done from the very start of playing FF14 will make noticeable differences in how much burnout you feel (and it still helps now if your like me and didn't do this early on). I'm not trying to dunk on people who enjoy the messy nature of MMO information bloat, if your brain is wired to enjoy that all the more power.
I’ve played off and on since PS3 beta, just learned about the /echo command to leave personal notes in the chat log that only show up for you last week. Anyway, I’m gonna try that legacy movement trick.
I have yet to use it, as i am not comfortible in tanking at all, but I had help in making a macro for gunbreaker's superboilide, where it also says in chat that hey I am going to die soon, heal me.
Its worth mentioning that the offensive and defensive damage modifiers in frontlines have the unusual property of stacking additively which makes the 10% nerf to the 3 jobs that got it bigger than it seems. Non nerfed jobs deal 40% (100%-60%)of their normal damage to Melee/Tanks and 70% (100%-30%) to everyone else. SMN, WHM and SCH deal 30% (100%-60%-10%) of their normal damage to Melee/Tanks and 60% (100%-30%-10%) to everyone else. This is actually a 25% nerf vs Melee/Tanks and about 15% vs everyone else.
good point, and it’s funny that despite how hard sch gets punished, they still very frequently top damage charts because of how strong their empowered bio spread is… is it all MEANINGFUL damage? no, not really. but it’s still funny seeing 2-3 scholars in the top 5 for damage dealt every FL
Spacing mits out is great! However, sometimes shit really hits the fan and you gotta use all cooldowns and pray. For example, it's standard practice in some extreme fights for tanks to invuln both tank busters, however that's not always possible as a paladin. So it can be easier to just use way too many cooldowns for the second tank buster than find your co-tank (ie barbarricia).
the problem with me is i practically mastered standard movement before i realised the sheer survivability that legacy provides. those few moments it takes me to fixate my camera so i can strafe on standard, have evidently cost me, since after hopping over to legacy... i no longer take damage i could have otherwise avoided. and as many players tout, damage avoided is damage dealt, by your green DPS
I most only macro longer combo cool downs like Ikishoten into Ogi Namikiri and Inner Release into Primal Rend, those macros are better than crying on the Forums to push for those changes

I hated having Auto-face turned on. It would always make me turn around and make me run right at what ever I was trying to attack and avoid at the same timeNow I use Legacy with auto face off, you don't really need to auto-face because unlike WoW your direction with many attacks doesn't determine if you can attack or not, I no longer have issues with running at enemies while attacking, and I can run in any direction I want while just adjusting my camera to keep an eye on what ever it is I am tracking. If I want to move while keeping camera static, I use WASD, but if I want he camera to change with me as I move, I move using both mouse buttons at the same time. I can easily dodge a stupid amount of stuff by having learned to quick swap between using both methods and individual camera spin all dependent on situation of what is happening. Macros in this game are best for condensing non-combat functions on hotbars, making easy on/off toggle switches for some UI features, special effects (like snap then change gear set), or quailty of life when doing later complex crafting.
There used to be an exploit where players out of combat would take off all their gear to drop their HP really low, then put it all back on so their max HP was really high but actual HP was still low (since it takes time to regen once your max HP increases). Then you have a healer heal you before regen ticks restore your health. Because you're being healed from "critical HP" it generated LB gauge, so you could build up LB3 before even pulling the boss. Was patched out in Stormblood.
Lb generation from a ton of damage only works for content before Shadow bringers. They reworked lb generation in Shadow bringers but keep it as is for previous content because that content would not be doable otherwise.
They adjusted values and simplified some of the conditions, but I don’t think it’s true that they fundamentally changed/removed it. Surviving lethal damage via shielding/mitting is still 100% a way of generating bonus LB post-Shadowbringers. The Akh Morning article talks about the changes in greater depth but it’s mostly nerdy potency talk-I’ve seen LB cheese/bars fill faster in plenty of modern content, though!
The linked breakdown in the description of the video says that lb generation from this was not removed, but it was heavily nerfed. It's also important to note that it's not simply for taking large amounts of damage, it is specifically for surviving lethal damage through mitigation or shields. Pre shadowbringers the lb generation was 500 per player, per bar, and post shadow bringers that was heavily nerfed to 100 lb per player, per bar. So while in pre shadowbringers content, strats like the 7 player stackup shown would generate slightly more that 1 full bar of lb if every player took enough damage to get the bonus, that got trimmed down to 1/5th of a bar. Which is still enough that it can make the difference between having lb in time or not
now the only problem i have with legacy is that you control the camera with both left and right click while standard only uses right click. You also can't do precise gap closers with legacy than you can vs standard! Still use legacy tho, just recently made that switch and ive enjoyed it, just misuse my drg backflip or rpr dashes quite a bit..
Ive never played standard but one thing that helps for legacy is to jump in the direction that you want to go then turn while you're in midair That way you have a lot of time to line up the jump while still moving in the right direction
@@Cadspen thats gonna be hard to do when i need to make a quick jump in like omega ultimate...tho i did try this and there is a slight delay when your character rotates. Sadly its not quick enough when i need to make a really quick adjustment >

You can still spin without using the first camera mode; just press both strife buttons (Q+E) and use the mouse to move the camera and the trick is done
@@Masterandroxx You can also do the gaze attack trick where you hold both mouse buttons and S, but if you dont press everything at the same time the emote cancels
it’s definitely bad in this game, i think - coming over from wow, i was pretty loyal to standard for a long time, but wow’s “standard” movement felt a lot smoother. xiv’s is just… clunky and weird, like you said, so i’ve definitely been converted to legacy gang
I've been on Standard for as long as I can remember and never once have I ever run into any issues with it, not even in ulti fights. It's very comfortable for me and you can do some pretty stylish stuff with it on some classes with certain mobility options & it makes general game play feel even more dynamic for me personally hehe
Hey, I don't expect you to change your whole style just because of the opinion of one person, but I'm putting it out there in case I'm not alone here: I think the character "lip syncing" with your talking looks terrible and it's really offputting. The content of the video is useful but I just can't get past that part of the visuals and I think the videos would be better without it.

thats why you put dyed items in the glamour dresser... the dye is locked and you can glamour it at no cost with the dye intact.

it's a super frustrating ability LOL -- the macro definitely helps and is BETTER, but it's still imperfect, sadly. good luck with TEA :D

3k hours in the game I discovered that you can right click a buff to disable it before the timer runs out.
I miss doing battlegrounds from WoW…the Frontlines are kinda confusing since I have no idea who the enemy is.

It's very comfortable for me and you can do some pretty stylish stuff with it on some classes with certain mobility options & it makes general game play feel even more dynamic for me personally hehe
Hey, I don't expect you to change your whole style just because of the opinion of one person, but I'm putting it out there in case I'm not alone here: I think the character "lip syncing" with your talking looks terrible and it's really offputting. The content of the video is useful but I just can't get past that part of the visuals and I think the videos would be better without it.
