Imagine there was a time when every single record that came out was a record full of 70s music
I remember that! It was called the 90s
You're kidding yourself if you think every 70s record was this cool, a lot of it was pure shit too.... but yeah, there was a higher percentage of overall coolness.
@@thierrycopuse9889ah, the recycled 70s, gotta love it 😂
@@b00gi3eah but...
... at least the shit had to be played by competent musicians, well ..musicians who knew one end of a guitar from the other...most of them could count to 4 ! ...and land pretty much nearly one the one !..without the quantise button !!..ok 1s and 0s were creeping into music but in an expensive and quite creative way ( the mighty Fairlight ) and early sequencers drum machines and those ridiculous bassline bass imitatorthings tb-something 3-0-something or other ♻️ ! were so clunky, non intuitive or just inauthentic they spawned (and continue to create) their own genre of quite amazing music rather than putting drummers out of work but by the time autotune made it possible for its (almost) nemesis the very infamous sam fox to pull in the shillings/be exploited it was the beginning of the end ,or the end of something for sure
Its no coincidence that the introduction of tech and specifically digital tech around the 80s has all of us that were alive and many that werent putting music from the 70s on a pedestal and bemoaning the loss of what was seemingly so abundant back then . I do wonder if the digits hadnt encroached on music or were found too crude or it all happened 20 or.30.years later what the 90 and 00s would have produced . No Soft Cell but what would creativity and musicianship have bubbled up instead ?
Its so bad now that i even hanker after those 'top of the pops' records (the worst example imho of 70s playing ) The TOTP band, nothing to do with the bbc singles chart program TOTP, but riding high on their uncopyrighted coatails , bought 12 current chart singles and being good musos in a day or two covered each one as close to the original as poss and released them on the thinnest bendiest bit of vinyl ever for less than a quid iirc Some sounded ok some were shite and i hated them at the time bc they seemed to sound on point apart from the 'life' or grunt or something original that made the original song original (terrible 'splaining )was missing . Even tho as an aspiring musician myself i was, at the same time, in awe of their obvious all round skill. This is the worst type of commercially available music i can think of from that era.but somehow i wish it still existed in some form today just to show folk you needed to do work to have your chops before you (or the person playing your part in the wings ) could access that hallowed arena of success , horrible tawdry nickel plated success .Hollow it def was from the inside The music biz is a fucking blood sucking talent squashing vampire but on some level you had to get in there or be unseen to most music aficionados. .doesnt matter if your elton john or keith jarret it is or was a necessary evil . Its modern day 'downtrodden person makes good and is golden for 5 mins on saturday tv' is even more creepy but somehow.makes a virtue of its shallow shitness so perhaps isnt as bad ...even tho it does seem to burn its talented tender little moths to a crisp in its white heat of tv fame flame just as it did back then .
Caveat Lector.
...ok ..who put me on that soapbox ...shit..
.Hello again. Sorry for all the bla bla blabber.. .if you made it this far you should be doing a ba in music history or you have, like me , too much time on your hands...

Found this on vinyl at an estate sale without knowing what it was. Glad I picked it up!
A new terminal passage release, I instantly click, and there’s instant goosebumps! What a sound
Jazz/funk flute is a genre that desperately needs to come back.
The flute has a reputation for being a timid or thin-sounding instrument, but Hubert Laws singlehandedly disproves this erroneous assumption! His sound is powerful without being shrill or distorted. His band is killin’ it too! I honestly did not expect this album to hit as hard as it does, but it was a very pleasant surprise!

Devin The Dude!
Great great album
What an epic version of Ravel´s Forlane ...blows my mind !!!!!!!!!
Man, I love 70s music! It’s what I grew up on. It all sounds much better today compared to then. Love it!
Excellent album with some great musicians supporting him
The music is great but man the graphic designers from back then were true artists, so amazing.
They were all amazing. Took pride in their art.
That vintage Funk&Soul stuff is so frickin cool 😎
Ah yeah
Crazy literally got that album sitting right in front of me on top of a stack!
SYNCHRONICITY
What's crazy about it?
@@kukko83 The physical proximity between the phone I saw this video on and the stack of records with this on top of it being centimetres away from my feet and in my field of vision at the same time is pretty unlikely or does that happen all the time to you? Aha
I figured it had to be "the coincidence factor".
Out of all Hubert Laws albums, this one remains my favorite.
what are doing here? lol
@@ksager123 I'm a crate digger at heart. What can I say? LOLOL!

Classic CTI album, classic Bob James production and its very distinct sound. I've always loved this record although I never fond an original LP copy in the wild. Thanks for curating the greats, wether obscure or just forgotten, TP.
I once worked in on-air radio and had all the CTI stuff and more. I had to move about 1,000 miles and my collection was just too heavy, so I sold them all--this one included--to a used record shop for $1.00 each. It was so much vinyl that the guy opened a second location...
Terminal Passage is the channel that we all need 💛 I have this vinyl, and sometimes I usually lie down with my arms around it

From the moment you hear the beginning of the album you know the rest is worth listening to. Thanks Terminal Passage
Sweeeet I remember the day when this came to my ears, after searching for the sample on Dela - I say peace
Too good 😄👌🏽
Instant smile, love the groovyness

Laws and Bob James.... family and Co
I had never heard of Hubert Laws. What a wonderful sound!
Thanks so much for this. I had this on vinyl and have not heard it in about 30 years. Great album.
Bought it on vinyl when it came out in '75 or '76. I still spin it. Sounds as luscious as the first time I sank the stylus into the groove back in the day.
🔥
Shit's bangin'!
I didn't expect the Forlane from Ravel in this record. The beautiful interpretation brings me an indescriptible joy. Thanks, once again, to Terminal Passage for uploading this gem!
so grateful for this channel, I’m not a fan of EVERY bit of music in this page but 100% support bringing back hidden gems like this back to the surface.
I love this album and still have it on vinyl. (It's one of the great ones.)
The artistry is of inner soul and beauty. "Romeo and Juliet," (Tchaikovsky) Hubert Laws, this album is a masterpiece. ❤
Thank you for this upload.

Oh god sorry ...(apoligises to self)..its taken my brain a few seconds to relax and stop pestering its old self about old melodies, narratives, tv themes and tunes half remembered , to let go of the bone ....and then it all dropped into place .!!!
A problem to spell so lets see how i do ..?

My favorite album in the world. Played every note. Thanks for posting. Hu Laws perfection.
So just how did CTI and Kudu relentlessly release such amazing albums throughout the 70's? I was an addictive collector back in the day, however this album is new to me. Thank you for sharing.
This album was released under Columbia Records in the late 70's. Hubert was long gone from CTI by then.
This is one of the best. I remember it well.
