Some 30 years ago I was trekking in Phuket up in the central hilly forests , I surprised a large spectacled Cobra laid across the track in the sun. It turned slowly to 'sense me'. I stood still and the snake just moved away into the jungle. In over 40 years of living here all snakes I have seen only want to 'get away' from you. Very few are aggressive . They cannot hear you, only feel vibrations. Stamp your feet and they will disappear!
As a resident in NE Thailand, can confirm there are plenty of snakes. A green pit viper just missed my head not so long ago while walking through our gate house.
Have actually been to Thailand? The scorpions are not a problem a sting although painful is forgotten in a few days. I have these scorpions in my garden and they do a good job dealing with cickroaches and slugs. The public are very unlikely to come across snakes. As for snake bite, Thailand has a very low snake bite problem and has excellent facilities in dealing with snake bite. I could go on but the information on here seems to have been plucked out and put together for hits. I've lived here 18 years and this is not an accurate picture.
