Those federal fusions are some serious deer medicine. Never taken a deer withnthem but from all the other hunters that have they love them. I have a few boxes for the future to try out.
I have this rifle in 30-06 and it shoots great with Remington corlot 180 sp, 178 Hornady ELDX and Federal Fusion 150 gr. That's all I've shot so far love it.
I love the 130 grain Federal Fusion in my .270 Browning X Bolt Stainless Stalker. Best grouping of all factory ammo so far; averaging 3/4 MOA. Best was .46". Just took a 6-point buck at 75 yards in the Catskills (NY). Double-lunged. Didnt take one step before dropping.
Beautiful rifle. I really like 130 TTSX pushed by a full load of Varget, but I understand that y'all were testing factory ammo. With that being said, I believe the fusions are speer gold dots and they are excellent. I used them and Nosler Accubonds for years before moving to TTSXs.
Those Norma whitetail loads have only ever grouped well in rifles I’ve tried them in. Some half inch groups in there too. Not sure how they did it for such inexpensive stuff. Sounds like the Federals generally do the same, but I’ve never tried them in anything. I use Barnes or Hornady copper for hunting though.
It depends. Between shots usually not more than a couple of minutes. Between groups a little longer - depends on how hot the barrel feels. With this one we shot the first 2 loads then switched guns then came back and shot a couple more.
Nice rifle. I'm gonna say that rifle will tighten up on groups with some 180 grain ammo. My Ruger American Predator 308 would not shoot 150 grain ammo very well at all. Loves 180 grain ammo though. 165 grain shoots ok but not as good as 180 grain stuff.
In my rifle the accuracy gain is significant. 180's shoot a 3 shot one hole group at 100 yards. The 150's shoot a 3 shot 11/4 inch group at 100 yards. I will take a one hole group over anything else no matter if it loses some velocity. 165's shoot a 3 shot group of a little less than an inch at 100 yards. That ain't bad, but a 1/4 inch 1 hole 3 shot group is better.
Did you try any heavier loads? I got mine this week and put rounds through it today. 165/168/178 grain loads and best I got was 2 moa. Worst was 3 moa. Bad enough I think I might have some issues, but see you are using mostly 150 with good results ill have to go get some. Also, did you do a break in procedure or deep clean the barrel before testing?
Hey there! The only other load we've put through one besides this video so far is the Sako Powerhead Blade (162gr). We haven't had great success with over 165 out of our 308s, so we've stuck with the 150gr ones. No - we didn't do a break in process.
@@ReviewThisThing I appreciate that info, you earned a subscriber! Thanks, ill get a couple boxes of 150 and see what it likes. Hopefully I can get a moa group or better out of it. If I can get it to shoot 1 moa its a keeper. I love how it carries and points.
I was able to buy my Sierra in March of this year. Since then I've grouped basically every ammo I can get my hands on and everything 165gr was terrible. I get respectable .81" three shot groups from my Barnes 150gr (I've already taken a doe with this), but the Hornady Black in 168gr is really where my rifle shines. I was able to shoot the best group of my life at .43" in three shots and was so excited I shot two more rounds to make it a .84" group in five shots. Overall I'd say the average for me (I'm not the best shot either) with all the ammo at 150gr and 168gr is .85". My Sierra really doesnt seem to like the 130gr stuff as they, and the 165's I shot all seemed to open up to 1.5" - 4"+ at 100 yards. I'm curious to see what your results would be like with the Hornady Black in 168gr. Anyway... you're awesome, I enjoy watching your stuff and have a merry Christmas!
Thank you for all of that information. It seems we need to test out some different weighted loads and see how they do. Thank you! And Merry Christmas to you, too! I appreciate your support!
I have the same rifle with a luepold picatinny rail, Luepold vx freedom 4x12x40, Vortex pro-series low 1" rings. At 100 yds it shoots Winchester deer season xp 150 grain, 3 shot groups in around a half inch. Same with hornady black 168 grain amax. Only 2 ive tried so far@@ReviewThisThing
It seemed to really like those Federal rounds. Thanks for sharing your results, be well my friends.
They absolutely do!
Always look forward to your videos. Keep up the good work.
Thank you so much! That means a lot.

We’ve seen and heard great things!
Thanks for making great informative content!! Now I want to purchase another rifle!!😂👍
😁😁 They got me, too! I appreciate you watching!
Love that Sierra! Thanks for sharing
Yes. It’s sweet!
I have this rifle in 30-06. Love it.
Yes! What round are you shooting?
@ so far it likes the Federal fusion
@williamhood5062 well there ya go!

Cool comparison. Thanks!

That’s pretty interesting. Thanks!
Have a generation 1 ruger in go wild camo, 150 grain whitetail will do the same 3 round hole @100.
Nice
Have you ever done a review this thing about a compact rifle?
Do you have a specific one in mind?
What’s the twist rate?
1:10
@ I have a Remington 700 20” barrel and 1:10 twist and can’t get 150’s to group for nothing, it seems to prefer 165/168.
Well that’s interesting.

Barnes is pretty solid usually
Try some Federal ammo. Their QC seems top notch. I have two 308s. They both like the Power Shok and the Fusion loads.
I also just bought the new Nosler Whitetail Country ammo in 308. My RA Predator likes it as well...
@clayp520 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
@@clayp520 What do you think about the Nosler Whitetail Country?
How long do you wait in between shots ?

We may have to try it.
Unless there is a significant accuracy gain there is no real ballistic benefit of using 180s over 150 or 165s. The velocity loss prohibits it.

@rickyflinchum2909 yeah - that’s pretty good 😁
That ruger shoots like that because I changed the factory stock out for a much better one.

Good name... Question, what 150 grain stuff did you try? I got mine in today in .308 and it wont shoot anything in the 165-178 range worth a dang.
Did you try the Federal Fusions?
The Cz Alpha 600 will outshoot this gun all day for less than half the cost. It also has a better trigger.
Hey, I’ll give it a try!
168 best for 308 not a 308 fan at all put 100 rounds threw it
We’ll have to see.
@ReviewThisThing I have shot many.begaras start grouping after 100 rounds im.luck my waypoint 7prc shoots quarter inch my 6mm creed today shot .15
@jamessammann9183 nice. Congrats!
Not all 308s like 168, have a heavy barrel Savage that doesn't like anything over 150gr
