    We actually did this 3 years ago bought house with the contents. The woman had passed, the husband was old, and the kids did not want the stuff. I set out 5 blue tarps and put up free signs. My husband and I just filled up the tarps and the items just went! It took me a week of solid sorting to get through the craft things. All of which went to the Boys and Girls Club. We could have made some good bucks but this was so much easier just giving the stuff away. Actually, yesterday we gave 2 remaining lamps from the early 70's that went to someone interested in mid century decorating. It took my husband and I a good 3 months of getting rid of stuff. The funniest thing was how much fake plastic flowers there were and then finding more in a storage shed! This is our summer home fun home that my husband is redoing. It was a real incentive to get rid of stuff at our home of 45 years as I do not want my adult sons to have to go through stuff like that!

      That's kind of you. ❤ This house is hoarder to me ...I wouldn't take it on that's for sure . If my parents home looked like this & passed I'd throw a match in it 😂 Am very clean and I guess a bit OCD . Everything has a place and if I don't use it in a year or so I get rid of it . I hate clutter and dust collectors anything snall or what some people call cute .

    In the seventies carpeted walls were a thing. I had several friends whose homes had shag carpeted walls in the family or game rooms. One friend had pink shag walls in her bedroom. We could make as much noise as we wanted and parents didn't care. I recently sold a ceramic pig bank with the original price tag of ten cents from a 5&Dime store.$25. Maybe there's hope for all the Dollar Store orphans. I think I am in love with Tony. He's a hoot.

    My wife and I watched a young couple at garage sales calling what we considered newer stuff, they called vintage. Its hard to know what will be the next collectable items in 20 years. Maybe the dollar stores items will be the next "find of a lifetime" to the younger generation. This is what makes this game of cleanouts so fun. LOL Great vid and keep up the good work.

    Always interesting to see how much stuff a single household can collect over a couple of decades. I am more a contrarian: from time to time I check my books and other stuff if I need them any longer and start some kind of "autodafé" to simplify my life. But that´s just me, I know certain individuals in my house choosing another way...😉. Anyways, seems to be a pretty clean inventory without much mold or dust which makes your job much more easier. I didn´t see any antique items yet, but who knows, perhaps grandpa´s collection of old American colonial coins is just behind the next corner..😃 Anyways, great to see the "Big Three" (Renée, Anthony and Timothy) in action again. You are a fantastic team, fingers crossed for some forthcoming stunning finds in the "Dollar Tree" property ! 🤞Greets from GER, U.
    P.S. Moldy smell on the ceramic Christmas trees shouldn´t be a problem, just give them a short bath with some fancy shampoo and they will smell like new ! 🎍

      As Tony calls us, "The Junk Guys!" You have junk? We want it! Haha. Actually, Tony is already in the works discussing another possible cleanout. Seems like it always happens like that - we go for some time with no jobs and then boom! One after the other. The $1 Tree House won't be too bad and while no antiques - yet- it's an easy enough job to complete in a few days. We make the client happy, we get flea market inventory, find a few ceramic trees, and be on our way to the next job! I do the same with my things, though it is easier to purge some items more than others. With my ceramic trees, it's easiest to rotate that collection based on if I find any with breakages. I keep those and then sell the "perfect" ones, with only a few exceptions, of course!

    Buy spray lacquer for the pink tree. They even sell shimmery glaze. Carpet on the walls was popular in the 1970's, everybody did it, even m/hotels. Never was a good look. imo. Thank the Lord for Tony. He may tell corny jokes, but he keeps making those all important connections for you. Who knows where it can lead! Have a blessed day 💖✝

  • @stephenritz5581
    @stephenritz5581 10 месяцев назад +4

    I have a feeling I know the decade in which that carpet was put on the walls. Was it shag? Shag is like an "index fossil" that allow you to date on geologic strata in different areas. Trilobites mean the Permian Era - shag means the '70s. If they had a cat, I bet it loved that wall. Nice find with the two trees. I find that once I have finally found something I've been looking for - after a long search - all of a sudden I start finding more. So I keep the first one until I find the second, then keep the better one and sell the other. Does the damage on the pink one require repair, or is it cosmetic & hidden by the base? Coincidental that you found the McCloskey-illustrated book at the flea market the other day and, "Make Way for Ducklings" on the shelf here. "Ping" was a favorite when I was a kid. Speaking of China, is that china worth anything as individual pieces or would you have to have a whole set? Actually, there's a place about an hour from here called, "Replacements Unlimited," I think, which sells individual pieces to all kinds of current & former china sets in case you've broken one. So there must be a market. Always enjoy watching you, Tony & Taco interact. I'm sure there are gold bricks or something similar in one of the bedrooms, so will look forward to those vides. Have a great Tuesday! We've finally received a break in the heat!

    The thing to remember about the Law of Tag Sales (and probably fleas) The item that makes you go 'who'd want that" is often the first thing hustled into someone else's trunk. The dollar store stuff....maybe not so much. Straight to the Free pile with those! A few may be worth money 20-30 years down the road, but not many. Poorly made/ephemeral items not meant to be saved are the ones that appreciate. Occupied Japan ceramics went high for a while, but at now selling at their real value - not much.

    Five & Dime likely sold tens of thousands of one thing, because of the population size, while Dollar Tree is selling hundreds of thousands or millions of one item. So, more will survive into the future most likely as well, dragging out the number of years til they would reach or surpass their original selling price. Hard sell today. You need to set all your ceramic trees up and give a tour, with bottle brush trees as "garnish" . Fun house 👍👍

    Wow, a residence full of fr-gs???! (as long as they are not the pooping kind. live ones)!! Looks like a place out of the Twilight Zone! Very similar to a cleanout my buddy and I did back in the early 90s. The contents was made up of almost all cheap table wear, figurines and other mish-mash, oh, and don't forget the moldy clothing! There was a large collection of vintage 78s...all were damaged! There was a library of very vintage technical books and manuals. These came into my collection, still have them. Got to love that kiddy car in the picture...it's patterned after the 1955 Chevy Bel-Aire...down to the two tone colors. My parents bought a 55 Chevy new...it was the car I grew up with...such a great auto! That tree you unwrapped looks like the ones I use on the train set up. That room with the rug-covered walls is a bit on the creepy side!

I got three fine Victrolas and great ephemera /records, plus those neat Lionel Trains, I now have! I treasure all these historical items! His wife hated the collections and always stated "If I had my way...all this junk would fill a dumpster!" That's the kind of lady I stay away from...I have met them, and their reactions to my possessions...my response...BYE!!!!!!!!!!!!

      I tried to get some direction from Tony too. We have a certain crowd on specific days of the flea market, so we have to pack for them. We can't bring $1 Store items to the market on a day when that day is mostly the antique buyers, so took a little time to get things packed and moving!

    I have a friend who had red shag carpeted walls. It was a piano room. I'll bet one of the kids in this house played drums and was relegated to the "carpet room."

    Yes yes yes. Okay my plan go through and grab anything each of you wanted for yourself or is your thing to sell. Go through again and purge any obvious trash. Then bin everything else and set up like the toteman at the flea market. And finally remove and deal with all the recycle and scrap. Hope you found some really cool items.
