LMAO! It still amazes me how advanced nail supplies and youtube have become. Together, they've been a driving force for people looking to leave expensive salons. I haven't been to a salon since 2012ish and am just getting into wearing nails again. We didn't have detailed videos back then, and certainly didn't have the supplies!
My nail salon just isn't worth it anymore. 80 bucks for a manicure that used to be $50 with tip. It's just not realistic ( i realize they are trying to make up for lost profits since covid )
Am I the only one who loved the way the nails looked before she polished them lol? 😍 I love the natural, whiteish, matte look! Super pretty and unique.
OOfer Gang No where was I rude or being aggressive. Bitch how about you learn wtf these words mean before you go trying to use them! Stop being a stupid ass! Not 1 time did I tag you & say anything, so why are you trying to start some drama with me?! Bitchhhhhhhhh........you better make sure this is what you want to do. 🧐
If you don't brush the powder off the nails after each dip into the powder it will make your base brush hard and not usable. Very important step. Nails look great.
Love love love this video. So easy to follow. Not like others where I've found myself having to take notes or pausing the video after every step. Thank you
Anyone doing this at home please look up a video on how to prep the nail and for a smoother application brush off extra powder in between each coat of base
You did a great job of demonstrating your technique! I’ve been a cosmetologist for 45 years and some people just have a knack for teaching and I’ve been in alot of classes, from colors, perms and nails and actually, I feel confident that I could use this technique after just seeing it once. Thank you so much!
I wanted to add that you said you weren’t sure what the activator does, it causes a chemical reaction that actually turns the soft unstable mixture into one hard substance with a completely different makeup! Very similar to porcelain, the type of glass type pottery that china cups and dolls are made of! This is probably the most important step in the process!! I prefer the porcelain to any of the acrylic, gel, or anything else. Again, great job!
Thank you for this tutorial! I want to be able to do my nails at home, since the salon is costly. Thank you also for providing links! I've never seen the clear tips before. Sweet! Question: the primer you have listed says it is for use w/ a LED lamp on the package. Do you use a lamp at all? Does that impede its effectiveness for this SNS process?
Deborah Mason hi! the primer i used is primarily used with gel but for this video i used it with dip powder and it worked just fine :) so in this case, no you don’t need a lamp 😊
Someone may have already asked this but which kit do you recommend getting? I know you used stuff from asp quick dip and the color club sensational. Which one do you think I should get? Or do I need both? Thank you🤗❤️
rachelheartsmakeup07 hi! i have tested many kits and honestly the color club and asp systems are very similar. i think the main differences are the price points and sizes. personally, i like the color club powders but the asp liquids. i also HIGHLY recommend the brand sparkle and co for dip powder. while they are a bit more expensive, the quality is very good. i actually recently posted a video testing it out so i recommend watching that. hope that helps!
Teresaaa_ 29 i do mine a bit shorter so they last longer haven’t worn really long ones , mine are a bit shorter than the ones in the videos but they are just as hard as salon ones if done enough coats!
Love this video, actually makes me think I can do this! ha. Question. The primer - I know there are a ton but I was just going to try the one you used, but it's out of stock on Amazon. Was curious if you had another one you liked that you could recommend? @katesnails. Thanks again. Glad I found your channel. The glue press-on nails are not working for me since my nail salon has been closed. :(
hi! i actually don’t really know of another primer. however, it isn’t a necessary step and the nails will still last quite long without it! i’m glad you liked the video :)
omg thank you so much for making this you are so underated and this was so helpful. please make more powder dip nails and nail videos, your amazing!!!!!!!!
Kirsty McIntyre of course! i have a video coming out next week sharing how to remove dip nails and it is the same process for removing dip nails with tips :)
It’s almost too good to be true I wonder if it’s really that simple or you’re just a pro and make it look easy. I tried doing my nails before and failed miserably xD but I will try your method and ps I subscribed :)
GlxxterBlood XX awe thanks so much! i have had a lot of practice using this method, and i am sure once you do it a couple of times you will achieve the same result:)
yes! you can apply polish on top of the dip powder extension. make sure to buff the surface of the extension smooth, cleanse the nails, and then go right in with the color application.
Hi May I know how to do infill with dip powder please . As I have never done like this . But this looks easier to do then acrylic powders . Waiting to hear from you please. Thanks
i always recommend applying very thin layers because this will combat the unevenness. also, filing is really the key to get a beautifully shaped nail! sometimes mine come out bumpy and uneven and this can normally be fixed with a hand or e-file.
yes i painted with polish right over these! you could also apply gel polish or dip powder, or even just a gel or dip top coat to add a shine to the natural dip powder color.
This was a GREAT tutorial! I have recently started a new job that has been terrible on my natural nails. I know I'm a couple years behind, but I have just decided to do something about my horrible nails! This video has been very informative! Thank you for your inspiration.
Im going to subscribe i do my own nails i recently did a cheat day and " got them done " just clear then i painted them at home i came across a youtuber and bought her products (HANDS.BY.HAIRITAGE) 24K cuticle oil i love the smell check her out (LATAYA MORRIS SENT YOU any hoo 1🖤 WAS going for a more natural length short and i was told NO like wow i paid 35 for clear yes clear round nails no gel i do use my cuticle oil but im looking forward to not getting a fill and doing the dip powder extension myself because im honestly trying to regrow my nails my last gel set broke my pinky nails offff ouch also would you try a glass nail file??
wow! Okay so, I tried this the other day and it didn’t turn out well for me. I think I know why now. When you did the first dip and only dipped 2/3 of the nail I didn’t do that and I ended up having a weird dip in the nail where the tip was. So you did the 2/3 to kind of blend that with the nail tip. I’m gonna try again following this video to the T and hopefully it turns out way better🤍
This was great and I appreciate that it was short. I am surprised that you can cut/shape your tips without them breaking. Also, am I correct that you used regular nail polish on top of your dipped nails? Why not a colored dip powder? Do they stay on without chipping? Thank you!
Thank you! I did not use regular polish, I think I followed it with some gel polish color. You can definitely use a colored dip powder, and it will last and look great!
Very nicely done! Very easy to follow. Can you tell me how you filled them in with the tips on with the dip powder? Did you have to take tips all the way off? Did you use non-acetone polish remover. Can you show us how you did this? Thanks so much

Are you building up the fake nail with a regulars dip powder? Also, what can I use to color my nails? Can I use another dip powder on top of what you finished in the video?
hi! i’m a little bit confused as to what you mean by the “yellow thin nail tips” for dip powder. i only use plastic nail tips for all of my manicures and i find them to be very durable!
I’ve started to do dip powder. I was just wondering if I can use regular polish, like to make designs. Or add some gel polish since I have more of those colors than dip color. I did notice you didn’t add the last step which is the top coat, but I’m guessing that was cause you were going to add regular polish ?
Jeanette Perez yes that is totally okay to do. if you just want the dip color, you can go ahead and add the final step (topcoat) but in this case i didn’t add topcoat because i did add regular polish/gel polish (both work) :)
AnneMarie Bliss glad i could help! yeah, if you want to apply regular polish, just skip the dip top coat and go right in with the base coat or color :)
it is a dip powder base coat. basically just a nail glue, but i wouldn’t recommend using that. i’d recommend either using a specific dip powder base coat or a gel base.
to achieve this specific look, i find the clear or natural tips look better. if you used a more opaque tip color (like white), it would just be more visible through the dip powder.
My nails grow long on their own, so I don't need tips, but due to age they are bumpy, ridgey, and super-weak. Can I just use the dipping powder alone to strengthen them and even them out? Also, where do you get the nail files? You don't have a link for that in your listing, and can I use them to file the nail after dipping?
yes you can use dip over natural nails without tips! it’s a great method for adding strength and durability to nails. i typically buy my files from sally beauty!
Weird question, why do they say to put primer and dehydrator on real nail only? I've always thought it was to keep the product to stick, so I've put it on my tips too, is that bad? BEAUTIFUL nails btw, and how many coats of powder do you do? (Sorry my volume wasn't working)
not a weird question at all! if i’m being honest, i’m not completely sure, it’s just what i’ve learned off of other videos. i’m sure it wouldn’t hurt to put it on the tips but yeah i know that doesn’t really answer the question. also thanks so much! i do 3 coats of powder, one on 3/4 of the nail and then 2 complete layers over that.
hi! i wouldn't recommend as the dip powder fills in the unevenness from the tips and natural nails meeting as well as adds structure to make sure the nails are durable.

you do have to buff the surface before application.

hi! yes i am building up the nail with dip powder. you can either use colored dip powder on top or gel/polish!
What dip powder did u use/?
i used a dip powder from color club, however any dip powder will work with this technique!
do u think plastic nail tips are stronger for ur nails and last, or the more yellow thin nail tips for dip powder?
hi! i’m a little bit confused as to what you mean by the “yellow thin nail tips” for dip powder. i only use plastic nail tips for all of my manicures and i find them to be very durable!

Could you possibly link the items you used ? Great video !
hi! they should be linked in my description. if not, this video was posted years ago so i’m not sure many of the products are still available.
how long do the nails last bc i want to do my nails at home bc i am decent at designs i just dont know the supply’s i need
Hi! I would say a solid 2-3 weeks before you would need to soak off or fill them!
What do you apply on the nails before you dip. Could you use the brush on glue or clear nail polish or?
it is a dip powder base coat. basically just a nail glue, but i wouldn’t recommend using that. i’d recommend either using a specific dip powder base coat or a gel base.
katesnails ok tysm
so for the primers you use, are they absolutely necessary for application?
I wouldn’t say they are absolutely necessary, but for long lasting nails I would definitely recommend.
Do you have to use clear tips ? Beautiful nails good job
to achieve this specific look, i find the clear or natural tips look better. if you used a more opaque tip color (like white), it would just be more visible through the dip powder.
can acrylic powder be used?
bowler8 i am not quite sure, but dip powder is just finely milled acrylic so i’m assuming it would probably work.
My nails grow long on their own, so I don't need tips, but due to age they are bumpy, ridgey, and super-weak. Can I just use the dipping powder alone to strengthen them and even them out? Also, where do you get the nail files? You don't have a link for that in your listing, and can I use them to file the nail after dipping?
yes you can use dip over natural nails without tips! it’s a great method for adding strength and durability to nails. i typically buy my files from sally beauty!

not a weird question at all! if i’m being honest, i’m not completely sure, it’s just what i’ve learned off of other videos. i’m sure it wouldn’t hurt to put it on the tips but yeah i know that doesn’t really answer the question. also thanks so much! i do 3 coats of powder, one on 3/4 of the nail and then 2 complete layers over that.
its because the real nail has oils in it that can influence the chemistry of the polish and can make it not last as long
If you put it on the nail tip, it’ll crack the tip.
Thank you so much for this! Your nails look so gorgeous!! 🩷Did you experience much nail damage? Are these simple to remove?
