Thanks for the tip about taking the rubber bumpers out. I've owned this for 4 months and never knew you could do that! To confirm I am using a Samsung note 10 plus 5g with the slim case from Samsung and works like a charm. Nothing bigger than that though would work.
I personally have a Note 10 Plus non 5G with an Otterbox Defender case onboard and thus a controller like this won't literally fit this HUGE thing lol.
@@Gamevice I would if it was available in the UK. It was perfect for my need but I ended up with this, because I wanted a more portable device than the backbone and one with usb charging. I'll upgrade when it will be available again
The controller has no dead zone at all. It's just software setting and you can change it to your liking. And the bumper button register even slightest press. It actually measures how deep you press it. Idk what it's good for and feels bit weird, but it's good piece of hardware. Doesn't feel as comfortable to use as console ones tho..
Lon you are one of the best reviewers out there, I always feel I can trust you to be thorough and honest. Been watching you for several years, thanks for all your work!
Legit was considering getting something like this, saw your first review and was looking for a current Kishi review for comparison and BAM! Suddenly this video shows up. Amazing work, thanks my dude :)
Those dead zones are atrocious, but as you said, personal preference. I think this shows how cloud gaming is still in it’s infancy, such as controller exclusivity. Personally, I would grab a small Bluetooth Xbox controller for streaming games to my iPad, but even that is not ideal for all situations. Lon, do you have an idea of an ideal one size fits all cloud gaming controller or do you think we will need individual controllers for different streaming platforms: PC, tablet, phone, etc.
I really like the 8bitdo Pro 2 quite a bit - works with just about everything although iOS is not quite there: ruclips.net/video/XJS1i5brzZw/видео.html
I use the Pixel 4XL and it does fit with my super slim case cover but to be honest it fits snug and nearly perfectly without the case. So I just pull it off whenever I want to game using the Kishi. No wabble at all nice and tight fit with the pixel 4XL without a phone case. Works flawlessly with Steam Link, Stadia and of course Xbox Game Pass Ultimate.... I haven't tried Nvidia GeForce Now. Grabbed it at Best Buy for $70. It is a great value now that it's not $100 anymore. I highly recommend this product if you really want a great experience gaming Xbox on the go.!
Interesting. You have a more negative take on this than I do. I bought as a way to turn an old phone into a switch like experience for my kids. Hadn't noticed the dead zones when using it myself but thanks for the more technical analysis.
He literally shows you how to insert the phone with a casethe removable rubber is removable for just this reason. Btw i have a Pixel 6 with a case and it fits great!
no bluetooth for the price is a dealbreaker there's already cheaper competition in the USBC area and Bluetooth, even if they also don't offer both there really isn't reason to pick the Kishi over those
It doesn't have Bluetooth because it connects directly to the phone, Bluetooth has higher latency and can be patchy if there's interference from nearby devices. Those "cheaper" options you mentioned are not as good as the Kishi, you get what you pay for so why would anyone go for that? The only thing that competes with the Razer Kishi imo is the Backbone, but that only works on iPhones (I have a Samsung S20 FE).
My OnePlus 9 Pro phone is a snug fit with the Case off and doesn't have that "wobble" that you showed, but I didn't realize I could pull out those inserts so I might be able to fit it in with the case on. However, this controller does NOT work with APEX Legends, which is why I bought it initially. It is also worth noting that the Kishi V2 also does NOT work with the APEX Legends.
Great work. I'd been wondering how those gaming controllers for phones work. I plan to pick one up (eventually) for Xbox Game Pass, once I have saved up for a newer phone.
The wobbliness is EXACTLY why I don''t use a case with my phone or take the rubber guards out. Also you should put the phone into the left side 1st. That makes it secure!
@GAMEVICE hey uh if you are the official gamevice account then you should know of all ppl that yes it's the same thing with very slight upgrades. The sticker on the kishi v1 even says made by gamevice.
Blessings I have a razer Kishi but it doesn't work with the PPSSPP, DOLPHIN or NINTENDO 3DS emulators it doesn't recognize the levers could you tell me how to request that please I need help!!!
Really wish Microsoft would do their own peripheral with the quality analog sticks and bumpers of their normal Xbox controller. The Kishi is the perfect form factor, aside from the cramped right analogy stick.
Just picked up the Xbox version of the kishi for my Samsung s20 ultra. I like it a lot. But yes I did notice the dead zones of the sticks that you were talking about. Crazy.
@@kewa_design you might have the replies and who said what mixed up. I wasn't the one saying there was a dead zone. I was the one questioning someone who claimed to be experiencing that with their controller kinda perplexed. I haven't had any issues like that with mine. Aside from concerns about it's longevity, it's been 100% smooth sailing for me
I'm trying to figure this out. All the reviews I've seen that show their thumbs while playing fps shooters have a significant deadzone with the kishi. But here you are saying otherwise like others have. I've even seen Reddit posts that prove it has dz with apps that can track it. Could it be you just don't notice it cause you don't really play fps? Or maybe your used to playing with cheap controllers and got really good with it? I'm not trying to insult you, just looking for answers cause I'm torn between the two.
@@pauljohn808 I’d recommend buying it for yourself Best Buy has extended returns. Streaming destiny 2 on Stadia earlier today I specifically tested for very slight movements. @@CinemaZiggy thanks for replying! It's gonna be a gift for my son so I just wanna give him the right one. He has an iPhone so your reply gives me hope. Got both but the kishi was on sale for $60. Gonna take a chance with the kishi. Thanks!
Great review. But the dead zone isn't due to the game pad. I noticed on different games the dead zone is barely there. Also, some games let you customize the dead zone
I wanted to order this controller, but after watching this video, I've changed my mind! Thanks! That dead zone issues, that would have bother me! I will just use touch for moving around in the game, and my gaming trigger! Thanks 👍😎

The Gamevice Flex supports cases
Imagine taking out the rubber bits that make it secure and then saying it's wobly and not firm 😂
Right? I was thinking to myself "uh..... Put the rubber inserts you just took out back in"
Try the Gamevice Flex which supports cases and solves that problem

Which competition ?
Bro wired is actually better than Bluetooth.

can you add suport for games like COd and others via some utility ?
