Literally me, the closest I came to finding out what it was was when I was walking around the shops and I heard the final 10 seconds of it played, tragically I couldn't get my Shazam working and missed the chance.. how this song eluded me for so long is beyond me.
This song reminds me of a girl I met online a long time ago. I fell in love with her but she lived on another continent. She introduced me to this artist and now I listen to him all the time. Thank you, my friend, I hope you're doing well.
I did not expect this. Everything I've heard from Iceland has been atmospheric, ambient music. When I saw the album cover I thought it was going to be kinda the same but this cruisy and groovy electro folk sound works for him. Really cool stuff
Billy Drake I love Sigur Ros, Ásgeir and Of Monsters and Man., Great Bands. I only know this 3 bands from Iceland. Can you recommend me more bands to listen?
I love the song as much as the video. There is a sadness to the guitarist like he knows what he’s doing is wrong and he’s being used but he has to because it’s the kings will. Wish it was a movie
I cried listening, when I’ve listened so many time before. I really miss when I used to jam out to Ásgeir with my sister and just let the world pass me by
Talk about a happy accident, I caught this while flipping through my satellite music channels and fell in love at first sound. The melody, the keys the song is written in, it's sublime.
it's hard for me to enjoy a song and really get into it. this is one of my all time favourite songs and it is beautifully constructed vocally and instrumentally, he has really outdone himself and this song deserves more recognition than what it has, I've been obsessed for atleast two years now
Omg me too !!! This is the only song that resonates the most with me! Im not kidding when ill die i think ill ask people to play this song twice at my funeral haha i know that’s weird to say. But that’s how i feel
I heard this on the radio in the car last week and I didn't get out of the car until the song stopped playing. Really beautiful, could listen to this all day.
Ii had scissor hands now I dance looking back in the mirror at me and my sexy fingers no more knives no more cutting vegetables if I want cash for my music 😎🎶
Thank you link, from Rhett and Link for recommending this song from their podcast. (Ear biscuits) I have listened to this about 50 times since this morning. @goodmythicalmorning
i feel so humble, i really thank you Asgeir , your song helps me so much to rebuild & go further, your song helps me to keep the positive vibe , your song reminds me my one & only trip to Iceland, Reykjavik , Jokulsarlon , Godafoss ,Thingvellir LittliGeysir...thank so much Asgeir
Glistening nighttime dew, and she is walking with me. From the house of red, I hear a child crying. Foxes heading home, their prey hangs from their jaws. And the forest knows, but it won’t share the secret. When the king takes sides, leaving moral minds; soldiers take their share. Nighthawks seem to sense that now is the time. Deep inside them burns the raging fire of life. He’ll take back what he owns. Death cannot take hold, if I can keep momentum. Fortresses of stone, turn into crystal tears soothed by southern winds; I’ve found my strength now. And nobody knows, and we must keep their secret. When the king takes sides, leaving moral minds; soldiers take their share. Nighthawks seem to sense that now is the time. Deep inside them burns the raging fire of life. He’ll take back what he owns. When the king takes sides, leaving moral minds; soldiers take their share. Nighthawks seem to sense that now is the time. Deep inside them burns the raging fire of life. He’ll take back what he owns.
This was the first Asgeir's song I listened to years ago... I never buy cds but i had to get Dýrð í Dauðaþögn. It has a special place in my heart. Now the new material Unbound is taking me to another level of existence. Why listening to Asgeir makes me feel like I was in love? but in love with the world, myself, in peace, longing to something beautiful almost spiritual. It makes me feel good.
My dear friend from Iceland passed away not long ago. A lot of his friends from all over the world that he met during his time living in Netherlands came to his funeral in Reykjavik. We rented out airbnb for that time and we played some Icelandic music setlist on facebook. One of the songs was this one and I fall in love with it instantly. Every time I listed to King and Cross I think about my you "My Man" Rest in Peace Snorri.
I'm also Icelandic and I like it better in Icelandic. I just like the lyrics better and how it comes and everyone knows Icelandic accent does not sound that great in English hehe or atleast I don't like Icelandic accent :p
There's nothing wrong with Icelandic accents. And I sense there's a depth to your native tongue that first-language English speakers, including myself, may never understand.
This song is awesome!! I heard this a couple days while on a road trip. Was scanning stations and was lucky to catch nearly the whole song. Hope it gets the airplay it deserves.
I remember I heard this song on the radio and I tried to look for it later on but I didn't know the lyrics...so a year later I heard it again at my job. So happy I finally found it!!
Belle découverte, merci aux Inrocks pour leurs sélections. Comme une sensation de joie mélancolique. Un partage entre Je réécoute sans arrêt ou je réécoute sans arrêt
Icelandic people are brilliant. Like Of Monsters and Men, I really love that band since Little Talks. And going to Iceland is one of my biggest dream ^^

Oh man you are talented! Just talented! Your voice is a gift from God that no one else would be so lucky to have. Please produce more amazing songs like this one. I am so addicted to this song!
It is really the Asgeir's song that I prefer. He is an extraordinary artist with something more than other one: the freshness, the novelty, a mesmerizing voice... i love that
4 years since met this song and still curious about the lyrics. Also I just found out the original lyric in Icelandic and its literal translation is different with English ver. Or it was about Icelandic legend/myth that I have zero knowledge ab
No myth from Iceland, just his words (or whoever wrote that song) Alot of words in Icelandic that is hard to translate to English. Just the 2nd word in this song is glittering night dew... Not sure you have that even anywhere else than in Iceland? Having red sun at 1o´clock in the night and see the reflection from the dew on wet grass....
exactly the type of song you want the world to hear yet, you just want to keep it all to yourself
Exactly what I feel when I hear great songs that are'nt mainstream
That is the most tru shit Ive heard in a long time
Thats always the case with iceland related bands and books etc
Nope i wanna share it
Perfect explanation 👌🏼
That transition bass line at 1:39 is soooo addictive.
There are no words to describe just how long I have been trying to find this song.
Relief is an understatement.
This song has been stuck in my head for 8 years and I didn't know the name of the song until now! Thank God I finally found it
Welcome 😁

I just imagined that 😍
Still doing this ?
Doing it right now xx
I did not expect this. Everything I've heard from Iceland has been atmospheric, ambient music. When I saw the album cover I thought it was going to be kinda the same but this cruisy and groovy electro folk sound works for him. Really cool stuff
To true brew
Oh there's far more than that.
-I mean this us sorta ambient-y-
i love this, dance with my grandson. He is almost 2 and my son also a musician - Jazz loves you . thanks for your heart.
If he's icelandic it wouldn't surprise me. They have the best musicians :)
I agree!
He is.
LPFL07 Sigur Ros though. Jonsi plays a guitar with a bow.
Billy Drake I love Sigur Ros, Ásgeir and Of Monsters and Man., Great Bands. I only know this 3 bands from Iceland. Can you recommend me more bands to listen?
Jonsi's solo work is excellent. you should definitely check that out.
I love the song as much as the video. There is a sadness to the guitarist like he knows what he’s doing is wrong and he’s being used but he has to because it’s the kings will. Wish it was a movie
My 5th grade teacher played this song in class a couple times, glad he did , thank you Mr. Oliver
I know this song too from my music teacher a long time ago, popped in my head again, thank you to the teachers :)
Ásgeir gets me through the worst times. Always reminds of the brighter side of things

This guy's a genius writing a song in 6/4 and having a big hit! Poetry.
actually song was written by his father and translated :D
Wow! So his Dad wrote the words and he wrote the music...Beautiful!
I believe it originally was a poem.

Anita Jabłuszewska That's what I was referring to, yes ;)
I cried listening, when I’ve listened so many time before. I really miss when I used to jam out to Ásgeir with my sister and just let the world pass me by

This is the perfect blend of everything. My ears are in love.
it's hard for me to enjoy a song and really get into it.

I hope you and your loved ones are safe and alive. What Russia is doing to your country and people is criminal. Sending strength and love your way.
King will choose a side

this song does not deserve a DISLIKE button.
I heard this on the radio in the car last week and I didn't get out of the car until the song stopped playing. Really beautiful, could listen to this all day.
Love his voice not sure why this song makes me cry.
I know why this makes me cry.....
I like the song In Harmony...
What a great song! So happy that I discovered Ásgeir!
Kevin McCue sent me here...and I'm happy he did!

I have loved this track for ages and only just realized how absolutely mindf**kingly complex the syncopation of this is

My music teacher showed us examples of music in class. This was one of them. Best class of my life.

I'm also Icelandic and I like it better in Icelandic. I just like the lyrics better and how it comes and everyone knows Icelandic accent does not sound that great in English hehe or atleast I don't like Icelandic accent :p

This song is so underrated
Saw him in Chicago. He and his band was tremendous. I got to meet him. Super nice guy.
This song is awesome!! I heard this a couple days while on a road trip. Was scanning stations and was lucky to catch nearly the whole song. Hope it gets the airplay it deserves.
Asgeir manages to make a tune altogether catchy and upbeat yet, relaxed and meaningful.
Its peaceful and catchy
The beat of this song as well as the harmonizing is too sweet for words.....Love this ditty.
This song played at my job all the time I finally found it
The beat and the timing on the melody blow me away every time..what a tune.
🤫.
I remember I heard this song on the radio and I tried to look for it later on but I didn't know the lyrics...so a year later I heard it again at my job. So happy I finally found it!!
Cette chanson me fait un bien énorme. Dès que je la mets, le sourire se lit sur mon visage. Et cette voix.....
Sa voix est divine !!

Such a awesome song!! Saw him at DWDD the Netherlands
Maybe just, me but this is probably one the most nostalgic songs ever for some reasons
Never underestimate the power of elves. Even kings have to respect them.
聞き心地のよい良い歌ですね、柔らかく和みます。

singer/songwriter?
Agree with you totally but it's not sing a , it's singer. Petty but it really annoyed me.
I have just spent .. 30 minutes to find this song with just "King" as key word =P .. but when i read "King and Cross" , all remember and sound in my mind . I love this song so much
I can't explain why, but.... it feels the light sprit of Depeche Mode 'Enjoy the silence'. Just a little bit.
I was about to comment that! But without the solitude!
Oh man you are talented! Just talented! Your voice is a gift from God that no one else would be so lucky to have. Please produce more amazing songs like this one. I am so addicted to this song!
