Id love to see a War Machine film that delves into Rhodey's emotional turmoil realizing he wasn't there when his best friend needed him the most. This could create a fantastic film that isn't just another superhero film and be also a very human film. Kinda like the Black Panther films which is why they are among the best, if not the best, Marvel films. Him visoting Tony at his grace a few times. Feeling more inadequate and having to not fully overcoming it yet, but able to move forward and begin to overcome the loss of so much time and his best friend as well as the loss of Black Widow, who he also remembers. And no, not a show, a film. You can do it all justice in a single film. Just bring back those who worked on Civil War and Black Panther to make this film. But it'll never happen. Poof

@barbodx9957 the premise of SI hinged on Nick Fury (and Carol Danvers) not being able to find a world for the Skrulls to make their new home. In Endgame, Danvers reconned "the garden" (as Nebula called it) and found it completely unpopulated except for Thanos himself. It would have been perfect for the Skrulls, and Skrull Rhodey was there to see it for herself.

It is said in the show itself that skrulls started replacing people in government ONLY after endgame. Because thats when Fury willingly left them and went to space without a word so they felt betrayed, cause he ran away from his promise. They couldnt blame Fury for being dusted, but him coming back and leaving them by his choice? The show clearly states that this was event that madw Gravik hate Fury

Bro I’ve had this theory ever since Loki. Question is, when in the timeline did Loki give everyone free will? I’m pretty sure everything after endgame has strayed away from the main timeline. Which is why Spider-Man messing up the multiverse, maybe miles too, doctor strange, scarlet witch. Well we think they are ruining the multiverse as of right now but what Loki is doing right now should be stopping them from causing a lot of harm. So mile’s problems can be fixed, Peter’s problems, stranges problems too if you really think deep about their predicament. Especially Spider-Man and miles. Only thing stopping them from their goal is the risk of causing damage to the multiverse.
That would mean he’s been one for ten years which is a bit much. I hope the real Rhodey was in Endgame because it’s my favourite movie. But let’s hope Armour Wars makes this clearer and easier to accept.

His legs are FOREVER BROKEN. In endgame he almost dies cuz his suit broke and he was crawling cuz of his legs. He even tells rocket to leave. rhodey was ready to die. U think a dam skrull is gonna risk his life in those circumstances to stay being a human with broken back and legs???😂😂😂he’d just use his skrull strength and get tf outta there. As for the gown AGAIN his legs and back are broken. Obviously he has to go in and out of therapy sessions without the braces. He’s a veteran of war that’s the only place and time the Skrulls could capture him without a fight.

In Endgame, he briefly mentioned his idea for the Avengers to go back in time to kill baby Thanos. Sounds pretty dark, even for a war veteran.
In Secret Invasion they confirm that Gravik didn't start his plan until less than a year ago.
Aka, Rhodey got replaced recently.
Its not a stretch to think the Skrulls didn't want one of their prisoners to have what is essentially bionic legs.

I think he was replaced after endgame. He was unable to walk without his suit or leg support tech in endgame as well. I'm not expert, but I'm pretty sure they needed medical attention after that battle. He cpuld have been replaced then.

Skrulls bleed blue we see Rhodey bleed red blood multiple times even in the battle of earth he was not a skrull they didnt plan this phase they just decided to retcon it to move the plot along which leaves enormous plot holes. The gown has also been debunked he wears white gowns during his treatment and he was rescued wearing a blue one.

100% feels like a retcon. They obviously didn't have this predictable reveal planned for years and even in SI, Rhodey was acting a bit strange and offish to fury etc but in endgame he was completely in character, cracking jokes n everything

There was a pretty big scene in Endgame where Rhodey was kicked out of his legs and couldn’t walk and we see the skull was able to walk without them also he bleed red in the battle of Earth. It would have just made sense if he got replaced right after Endgame

Nope. He got taken sometime before Falcon and Winter Soldier. You can tell because Rhodey doesn’t have his braces at Cap’s memorial.
If that's the case it creates so many plot holes and completely ruins his presence in those movies. Tony's death and funeral with the knowledge his friend is an imposter is just bad especially since they clearly didn't plan ahead for this and Rhodey looks to be genuinely grieving.
Also he acts out of character in Secret Invasion, he jokingly threatens to put on the suit and bomb a country just because the prime minister rolled his eyes at him during a UN meeting which is just extreme for Tony's friend and sounds unprofessional for the real Colonel James Rhodes.
Also Gravik's plan seems to have been set in motion after Nick Fury gave up on helping the Skrulls which would be after Endgame and I don't think he would've planned to replace Rhodes before then.
It's a retcon but he didn't behave like an imposter. That's the whole point of taking someone's identity.

@@shermansmith8356 that’s my point - we obvi we looking for the signs after we knew, and it became obvious. but I would argue his behavior in IW / Endgame was exactly the Rhodey we knew, zero breadcrumbs. which to me is why it feels like a retcon rather than a long term choice. there are ways to make retcons feel natural (Krennic’s seat on the Death Star empty in A New Hope), this didn’t feel like that to me

In Endgame Nebula said something along the lines of "look out Rhodey, there's an idiot in the landing zone". Then he sees Scott and says "What's up regular-sized man?" almost like he remembers the fight at the airport and is like playfully squaring up to him. Like "oh look who's not big anymore". He wasn't a Skrull in Endgame unless they're suggesting he also was in Civil War.
When Rocket asked 'who are not been to space before', Rhodey didn't raised the hand soon like Cap & Nat... And he also said 'he didn't done anything good in his life' to Nebula... But he is not been a part of the girls army joined to help Carol to reach the quantum tunnel... 🤣🤣🤣
I’m hoping Rhodey wearing the hospital gown at the end of secret invasion was just the creators trying to throw us off on when he was abducted, because from falcon and the winter soldier to secret invasion is the only time we’ve seen Rhodey without his leg braces, showing that he was probably abducted after endgame
That explains the nebula and Rhodey scene in endgame when neb says "i wasnt always like this" and Rhodey says "me neither"

I’m wondering if a skrull such as Talos (or maybe Talos’s wife) took over for Rhodey between Civil War and through Endgame. Then for some reason that Rhodey was replaced with Rava after Endgame. This could mean that people like Tony Stark and Nick Fury could have known that Rhodey was a skrull since Civil War (maybe they intentionally put the real Rhodey into that stasis machine so they could keep him alive). This would also account for most of Rhodey’s character growth in endgame and specifically his moment with Tony at the end. Thoughts?

Yes that could be possible but some other factors to consider are maybe when he struggled to walk after his surgery. But it would make sense, in Secret Invasion, he was walking without any mechanism to support in legs.

Its said in the show that Skrulls started replacing people in government only after Endgame, when Fury left the Skrulls and went to space on his own, leaving them. Skrulls felt betrayed and started organising behind his back. So yes, its basically confirmed that he got replaced after endgame and its common sense. Everyone knows it would cheapen endgame and they dont want it even more than we do. Hospital gown means nothing more than give us hint of where he was abducted, during hospital visit.

I think it was just a overlooked plot hole. For example, Everett K. Ross was replaced by a Skrull, but how were they able to find him since at the end of Wakanda Forever he went into hiding with Okoye?

That is impossible, the bad guy in Secret Invasion was still under Nick Fury after the events of Endgame, cleaning up their DNA after the battle. There would be no need to replace important people back then because the secret invasion hasn't started. It's during Falcon & Winter Soldier that the invasion most likely had already begun and that Rhodes was replaced. That being said, Secret Invasion clearly wanted to allude that he was replaced in Civil War which only showcases the incompetent writing that the show has only for a "clever twist". (Fun fact: When asked when Rhodes got replaced, the shows director said that they weren't sure and that fans must keep guessing because that's fun, but like... isn't that his job to reveal?)

Being that a skrull would know there are many planets now (without avengers) they could inhabit.
The whole time they were reporting back to Nat skrull would be gathering information.
It doesn't make sense that the skrull left would not take over another weaker planet or take over earth as it was with half the job already done.
Imo, I think the skrull took rodes after gathering the harvest (after the end game) [perhaps during far from home] to gather info on where it might be.
For again, I think after putting that much effort into going back for stones, defeating Thanos and bringing everyone back.

i hate it.
But let's be honest - Endgame was a pretty much perfect way to bookend the first 3 MCU phases. After that, it's been an absolute barrage of MCU content(a lot of it streaming series) & there's been way more misses than hits imo.
i was a big fan of what the MCU did over the first 3 phases & enjoyed following the shared universe they'd built. The amount of a-list stars, all the crossover, & the planned out arc by Fiege was truly something unaccomplished in cinema previously. But i simply had to give up on the MCU not long after Endgame. i just can't keep up with what feels like never ending formulaic mass produced fast food entertainment. It's kinda like... i love a good cheeseburger, fries, & a shake but i don't wanna have to eat a cheeseburger, fries, & a shake for every meal all year long. It's time for Marvel to scale it back a bit, focus on quality rather than quantity.
its a total retcon purely for the purpose of setting up Armor Wars. His anger at the state of Tonys legacy will push him to the edge.
Rhodey did suffer some injuries during the endgame too. So Rhodey in a hospital gown could mean he was abducted after the endgame. Skrulls weren't a problem during the Civil War. Gravik and some other Skrulls became bad sometime after the endgame because immediately after the endgame fury used Skulls' team led by Gravik to harvest the Avengers' DNA. If Gravik was bad during that time he would stolen the Harvest during that time. So that means Rhodey was swapped after the endgame not before.
