From what I’ve read online, Ingo’s Japanese name is a pun on trains-but it’s also a pun for mountain climbing. Gamefreak saw they needed a warden to helped us climb, saw Ingo, and decided to cause *emotional damage* …for a PUN.
I’m surprised how popular the subway boss twins became after this game. I’ve seen stories of emmet going completely mental after loosing ingo it both sad and intriguing. I hope the two reunite because no closure would hurt. Both of them have definitely become some of my favorite unova characters.
Yeah it's pretty crazy. I think this game has definitely made them more popular but there was already a ton of fan art and love for them both in the community. I'm hoping that the unova remakes will help bring us closure
In the Japanese audience, the Submas have always been insanely popular. Due to the fact their personalities are a reference to Japanese working culture(always smile and be very polite while serving a customer), the Submas never had the attention intentionally as they had in Japan.
One interesting thing to note is that ingo is missing all the white parts of his outfit. Like his white shirt and gloves are gone and that's probably to symbolize the loss of his brother who wears predominately white
I swear the more one looks into ingos situation, the sadder it becomes, like how long has he been there? How long has Emmet been alone? Will they ever even reunite? Does gamefreak know how tragic the implications are here? And all this because of a japanese mountain climbing pun
i really hope we can get the closure that frankly, at this point we need just as much as those brothers. Emmet better be in SV or something in gen 9 - like oh f*ck the UNOVA REMAKES?!?! is the climbing pun about going up?

They don't got the best track record with ORAS looker and (U)S(U)M Anabel but they literally separated twins and its cruel to just leave it like that without closure

according to bulbapedia ingo is the older sibling between the two, when there's a lack of parent presence younger children will mostly likely start to cling to their older siblings for comfort and needs, now imagine emmet's situation in all of this yeah im going to cry for 2D characters again
Does that hold true for twins with very little time between their birth order? They're probably separated by an hour or so, yeah? I think the record for time between twin births was like two months or something.
Yeah, and Pokemon Masters EX also made it clear that Emmet idolizes his big brother a lot. Since he's the younger "headstrong" twin while Ingo is more poised, I wouldn't be surprised if Emmet relied on Ingo for pretty much everything his entire life. So having this pillar suddenly disappear on him must have been extremely destabilizing. I really hope GF won't abandon these two's storyline.
It's ironic how the two Wardens of Coronet Highlands have Noble Pokemon that would match the other much better in sense of aesthetic (Lord Electrode with it's perpetual frown and smooth upper half of his globe, and Lady Sneasler with her fabulous looks and attitude (no other Noble laughs at you the way she does)) yet it still works very well the way they are now
4:18 that is the best and saddest piece of art ever! Imagine seeing your brother’s clothes on display in a museum and learning he died over 100 years ago in a far away region. Though happy knowing he lived a full life with new Pokémon and friends by his side.
Melli is actually hilarious and I really don't blame him for not being nice to the people who are kinda highkey invading his homeland, I really like the guy like... he just lies about not knowing Electrodes favourite food cos he doesn't like you, that's hilarious.

Many of the wardens kinda wonder if the frenzies are something "Sinnoh" did and whether it's their place to stop them, but they all sort of let Team Galactic do whatever they want aside from Melli. So I do view his meanness under the lens of "There are invaders messing with his homeland and the religious figure he's tasked with tending to and he's kinda grumpy about it", especially with the context of Melli being previously quite shy and a bit of a doormat, I imagine Adaman going to discuss Lord Electrode with Galaxy team without Melli's consult probably stung a bit. Honestly love his pettiness. I really missed mean characters in Pokemon. The last few rivals have been really nice, and Melli brings back that trash talk I've been missing from the game. And that voiceline about cresselia being a dumb croissant, and his little friendship/rivalry arc with Lian were both really fun.
yeah I did actually see that the other day. It's a cool detail but I can also imagine after being in the Hisui region for several decades the white bits of clothing would be the first to break and he looks like he changed other parts too. That said it is very sad to think about.
@@The31st Truly, there is no deeper bond between two humans than the bond of Twins. To separate them so cruelly is akin to ripping out a part of one's soul. Even Non-Twins can understand this to some degree, so that's why fans have such a visceral reaction to the Hell that Ingo is thankfully mostly ignorant of being in. But our Boy still remembers some, so it hurts even more.DX
@@The31st Heh, I've thought ALOT about Ingo's situation, since he refuses to leave my head. At Least Anabel doesn't remember what she's lost, and we know nothing of her family, so we care less about her being displaced, as cruel as that sounds. Mohn, Lillie and Gladion's dad, may not remember his family at all, but they at least know where he is in the end and he's happy, living a fulfilling life. We know NOTHING about Looker before he landed in Mega timeline Hoenn if you take that as the start of his timeline. Ingo is stuck in the past with just enough memories to KNOW there are those precious to him that he left behind. He got the worst outcome, and as far as we know, no Faller besides Mohn has returned to their home. But I guess going off Monh, there IS hope. Still, the Artbook said Ingo was gone for XX years. That could be anywhere from 2-99 years, though I doubt it's on the high end. They could have just put X years to make it less than 10, but no, they had to make 20 years or something a feasible option. He might never see his Bro again.DX
@@PinkSneaselGirl yeah it's awful! He can never truly move on or start a good life in Hisui with that kind of baggage :( Plus knowing he has a twin out there really hurts. Gen 9 will hopefully have unova remakes which will be really interesting, obviously he's way older than he was in BW2 but we don't know when he fell. It could have been 10 years after BW2 or literally the day after but we know he's been in Hisui double digits. He easily could have been there 20 or 30 years. Someone said in the comments that his concept book page says he's in his 50s so that probably means he fell pretty soon after BW2, maybe we'll get too see a Unova after he's gone and find out how Emmet is doing.
Interesting analysis! There is one point you missed about Melli: He used to be very shy and withdrawn as a child (complete opposite of now). Mai also explains, that Melli changed his personality to help Adaman. No, don't be sorry it's super interesting! I do some personality stuff too, I didn't know about his shy past. I kinda which he stayed that way 😂But I think he's love for the diamond clan is one of his only redeeming features, unfortunately, it makes him do horrible things to everyone else so it balances out

I HATE that the games did Melli so dirty lol He was supposed to be arrogant but also showcase his big cheerleader energy for diamond clan as he cares very deeply for those in diamond clan and can be very sweet to them, not to mention seeing adaman as a big bro, but the game kinda skipped the second part and said "nah let's just focus on the arrogance"

No I'm in a discord server with someone who does a lot of character deep dives and they mentioned something about his descriptor in the concept art book thing was more light hearted and I believe it bc his concept sheet really did give him some extra personality! It's mostly based on small tidbits and disclaimer obviously bc it's all fan made deep dive rambles based on the concept book and games it might not be 100% Canon

It was a completely crazy pull for them to put ingo in the past, I really hope we can get some closure for them and maybe find out what happened to Emmet in SV or another game. I think ingo is so cool though.
It had been so long since I played Black and White and I never did much with the subway challenge so when I saw Ingo I thought “he looks familiar” and he was so familiar I was struggling to think of why. When I decided to look him up and get some answers I immediately remembered when I saw him and Emmet together.
im almost positive we'll see ingo and emmet reunite, considering theyre twins who come from black and white thats whole is that life *isnt* black and white and that both halves compliment one another, you cant have just one or the other. if they aren't reunited itd be like spitting in the face of the games fr. maybe we'll see emmet in scarlet/violet? or at least maybe we'll get a pokemon masters ex storyline about it, since they've been getting a lot of attention in that game (and were also released 3 months before arceus dropped i think... they both have lines about how they look up to the other and love eachother... they knew what they were doing lol)
I'd never thought of them going a master's story about them but that's actually a very likely possibility. I still hope they fix it in a main game for everyone that doesn't play masters
That's part of the reason why I think Emmet will be in SV and also it wouldn't be the first time a game has hinted towards a specific plotline in the next gen. Because looker in ORAS washes upon the battle resort area of hoenn, and at first that wouldn't mean much until you realise what his role was in sun and moon, where he investigates the ultra wormholes along with another person who had experienced a similar fate to oras looker, this person being Anabel. Anabel was a frontier brain from the battle frontier, now she works with looker, but guess where the hoenn battle frontier is located? In the battle resort Island, the same place you find looker in ORAS. Why looker and why that area in particular if they WERENT hinting towards anything? It could've been anyone else anyWHERE else. With sv's themes of past vs future coming off of legends arceus which takes place in the PAST but with your character (+Ingo) being from the FUTURE perhaps they are setting us up for something similar and there's no better associated character ingo could be hinting towards than Emmet, his twin brother and other half
In truth I always felt that maybe Ingo and Emmet originally were meant to be bigger players in the black and white and black 2/white 2. Maybe even be the main characters of the third game (yes there was supposed to be a third one a “gray” but it was canceled) A lot of their design and names even hint that they are meant to be more. Example Yes their names in Japan have to do with trains…. But!!! Their choice on the English names is very surprising. Emmet means truth…. While Ingo means void… that and their designs among others does hint some kind of connection between them and the unova princes.
@@The31st yes and maybe in the future Ingo and Emmet will be reunited in the past of ancient unova. Or should I say… Alleos. (Fun fact: Alleos is the original name chosen for the unova region but it was changed to from Alleos to unova later on when the game was done)
After reading Bulbapedia page of him, I think he might be Jupiter's ancestor: - Skutank as their main Pokemon, - Purple hair (albeit different shade) - Other major Team Galactic members have their Ancestors in Hisui already (Cyllene/Cyrus, Choy and Tao Hua/Charon, Arezu/Mars, Coin/Jupiter).
Ingo isn't even the first character in Pokémon who has travelled over time and space without having closure. Anabel, one of Hoenn's Frontier Brains travelled through an Ultra Wormhole in Pokémon Sun and Moon without any memories of who she was too, and it is theorised that Looker isn't originally from the 'present time' since he showed up on a beach without any memories as well, possibly because of an ultra wormhole as well. I think the reason people are much more clinging to Ingo is because the games give us lots more character detail, like him and Emmet being siblings, and Ingo himself going in-depth about some of his missing memories. He really deserves some closure.
She didn't have a twin though 😭 Also, she found love in her new time. Pretty sure she even keeps her legendary Pokémon lol. I feel bad for her but my heart breaks for Ingo. I hope he gets closure or some kind of side story

Great video as always! I like that you pointed out even the smallest details, that usually unnoticed by others. By the way, I analysed Ingo's hairstyle a little, and I think that he has traditional Japanese hairstyle named "Chonmage", he even has a ponytail-ish collected hair, if you look at his LA model without the coat collar. While he may be naturally balding due to old age (art book somewhere stated that he is in his 50's), it may just be also a shaved hair style. Thank you for your video!

It really says something that this game has a guy who exiles you out of paranoia and a guy who flat out tries to murder you and Melli is more hated than either of them for being Just A Jerk. Now, which would be the sadder scenario--Ingo never returning and Emmet slowly learning to accept this, Ingo coming back after a long period of time but eventually they're reunited, or Ingo being returned to the exact moment he left, only suddenly decades older, barely able to speak the language any more, and having experiences that Emmet can't relate to and never can, their bond irreversibly altered in what, to Emmet, is an instant?
i feel bad for Emmet and Ingo both separated for probs years and more than likely for the rest of their lives but i will admit there is probs 1 or 2 ppl out there who like Melli and get bullied for it imo Melli is one of the worst characters Pokemon created and id say its best to get Melli's CDA out of the way but if it was me i wouldve just not done him but ig thats y ur the owner of the series and channel and not me lol anyway despite Melli being in it, it was an amazing video u pointed out stuff like how Ingo has aged since he fell to Hisui i just assumed he fell about the same time as Akari/Rei and i assumed the Goatee was in his original design and i also assumed Ingo had his suit ripped from the rift not from Pokemon also soz for the long paragraph lol
It's good dude 😂 yeah the concept art doesn't say how many years he's been there but it says "xx years" so it's double figures for sure and given how old he looks it's probably multiple decades though we don't know how old he was when he arrived. He could have already been old? That said, he's been there long enough for everyone to accept him and for him to become a warden. I hope we can see Emmet soon, maybe in gen 9 just to find out what happened and that he's ok. Melli can suck an egg.
I like to think Emmet went home after the events of the game. After you’ve helped everyone, completed the Pokedex, saved the Multiverse and captured Dialga, Palkia and a Fragment of Arceus theirs absolutely no reason you can’t just go home whenever you want and I like to believe you take Ingo with you. If it isn’t back to around the time he first disappeared then at a point in time when he matches his brothers age.

I wonder if they intend on creating a remake of the BW games for the Switch. If they do, they either need to make a DLC for PLA which involves getting Ingo back to Unova or at least explaining how he got back in the possible remake. Can't have BW without Ingo and Emmet (unless they do a shoddy reskin like BDSP in which it's the same game, just a new look).
If they do a reskin like bdsp it would be easiest for them for then they wouldn't need to do anything but it would also be the worst thing they've ever done and I would never forgive them for leaving Ingo and Emmet's stories unresolved

I’ve seen some people theorize meli is related to Atticus due to both having skunktanks and specializing in poison types and both being “pretty boys”, along with him claiming he’s descended from ninjas, and Hisui being pretty clearly ancient Japan. Maybe in a few centires down the line Mellis descendants become ninjas and many more later they moved to Paldea. Atticus’ Japanese name is also a flower reference, like Melli.
I think this is an unpopular opinion, but after playing Pokemon Legends Arceus for the 6th time, Melli became my favorite character, not exactly sure what I like the most about his character though, whereas I know for other characters in the game. So I basically just like Melli because..
Considering how Mellie acts with Ingo and their whole arc together, I feel inclined to believe the flowers are Asters as Asters have a similar meaning to Forget-me-Nots, and Ingo's whole thing is having amnesia/not remembering who he is. Anyways. I greatly enjoyed this video! The Mellie shade was hilarious. I wish we'd get Emmet in one of the new games already though so we can see his side of things, since I doubt we'll get a reunion any time soon T_T
Fun fact his pokemon presumably hates him. His main pokemon is a Golbat that never turns into a crobat throughout his later encounters. Said pokemon evolves from high friendship.
I really wish that Emmet just comes bursting out of a rift with a train, being like "I AM EMMET AND I WILL FIND MY BROTHER" but sadly I don't think that will happen and i weep because of it.
Um, so am I weird for not minding Melli then? I adore Ingo, always have, though I prefer Emmet over him. So I don't like when Melli is rude to Ingo in the game, but Ingo doesn't mind it so I hold nothing against Melli. He doesn't annoy me or anger me or anything. I wonder why he irks other players...

@@Sakachi18 i think what people dislike is that he's very self-absorbed and treats the player as a nuisance most of the time, while only slowing things down and making tasks harder himself, like when he tried to sabotage us in wayward cave. He talks and acts like he's the best thing that happened to Hisui when he's really just in the way almost always, makes him easy to hate. You're definitely more charitable and patient than all of us if he doesn't annoy you pfhfh
@@babann_57 Ah, so it's his vanity and refusals to listen to authority that upset everyone. I see. That makes sense, but it doesn't bother me because I can tell that he means well, in his own way. Him obstructing the path in wayward cave was a desperate move to stop the player because he truly believed the frenzy was good for Electrode and didn't want the player to take it away. But he couldn't usurp Kamado or Adaman's orders, so he tried to make it impossible for the player to even try. I think it was sweet that he tried so hard to protect Electrode from what he perceived to be a threat. Totally get why others would hate him for that though if they couldn't see it from his perspective.

I think i would've been on board with understanding him wanting to protect electrode if he focused more on "what if you hurt electrode by trying to stop his frenzy?" but from what I remember he was like "but him being frenzied makes him so strong!! strength is good!!!" and when Adaman even said electrode could be in pain Melli was like "but we can't be certain he is, I'd like to keep him powerful!". My first impression of him was a really foolish dude obsessed with strength, tho i could have misunderstood his lines a lot too. It's cool to see how different he came off to others though!
I saw a comic dub on RUclips where emmet is waiting for Ingo to return, but he sees two people who need help getting on the right train only for him to see that the two girls look like female version of them. (So it’s ingo descendants)
I share the same opinions about Melli, but, first, he's Jupiter's Ancestor because the other two both use the Signature Pokémon of Mars and Saturn. Coin uses a singular Toxicroak, Saturn's Ace and Arezu uses Purugly, alongside a Bronzong and Lilligant on the Path of Tenacity, Mars' Ace happens to be Purugly and she, alongside Jupiter, uses a Bronzong. What two Pokémon do Jupiter and Melli use in common? Skuntank and Zubat. I don't see any sign that Lucian or Avery are related. But, Melli is comparable to Redd White, a smiley, smarmy, stuck up, feminine lookin', STAIN who acts like he's Undyne! Yes, I did call Melli a girl, because his hair made me think he was one! If the player is a Noodly Galaxy Grunt, Melli is a Stick Figure! He WANTS Electrode to kill people! I wish Electrode retaliated because Melli was IGNORING ITS PAIN! Either after the boss fight when Gear Station's theme finished, during the main story's climax, after Cresselia is dealt with or in the Daybreak Update, seeing him get zapped would've felt cathartic to me. There has never been a more dislikeable character aside from Ghetsis for me. But, Melli really made me mad! Also, Team Skull in PMD Explorers had Skuntank and Zubat as prominent characters alongside a Koffing, but, Team Skull isn't really relevant, I thought I would bring up the Parallel to Team Skull. Honestly, I do not see Lucian, Avery or Clara (I saw a comment somewhere that suggested her too) ; my evidence again points to their teams: Lucian and Avery are Psychic Trainers that do not use Drapion, Skuntank or Crobat. Clara has a Drapion, yes, but, that doesn't prove anything. They don't look related. But, what do I know? I am convinced Palina is related to Aqua Admin Shelley. Plus, Maxie's Ancestor..... worshipped Dialga..... hmmmm.... something isn't adding up here...
Sadly, I don’t think Ingo and Emmet’s storyline will have a complete happy ending, but I do think they will at least get closure(I also think Emmet would be more an anti hero than a villian but many think he would turn into. I also have a theory their past probably wasn’t the best but I could expand on that another time) There’s also a legend(that was used in games like Crimson Butterfly) that twins are two halves of one soul, and when one dies their souls join together. Something I really want though is either a fight between Ingo’s ghost(come on, you have a ghost every generation, cash in on it and make a depressing fight! Possibly him as the Warden and then a second fight after once he fully remembers and turns back into his Gen 5 design. Or maybe one final multi fight with his brother alongside him) or Emmet single battle since he always did double battles. My tragic idea:a bittersweet ending. Have Emmet be on the hunt to find him and possibly dangerous outcomes only to find information about Ingo in Hisui records to at least let him know what happened and the life Ingo lived(Ingo was a respected warden and helped pioneer certain battling aspects it seems). Maybe even have Ingo appear as a ghost to give him a final goodbye. Like a certain rival in Gen 9, Emmet doesn’t get a full happy ending or even get to say all he wanted, but he gets closure knowing what happened to Ingo, that he was okay, and that he still loved him. Like the legend of the twins, they aren’t together physically anymore but they always are in spirit
Closure would definitely be nice. I hope they do follow the storyline up as it seems weird to drop some random, forgotten character from gen 5 who just so happens to be a twin into the past but I can also see them just never mentioning it again.
@@The31st (well, forgotten by everyone but Japan given their huge popularity there. Ingo got second in one poll and won another. The huge respect for train workers amazes me but I’m glad for that) Sadly true to that second part but it does feel like they are going somewhere with the faller storyline since Looker and Anabel also fell, and it’s seems to get worse each time which closer connections broken and farther locations. The line from Scarlet of “It’s theoretically possible to travel to the past, however for a being such as a human, it will not be possible to return to the present” did not ease anyone stress over it. As if it was clarification “yeah, Ingo’s stuck, have fun Emmet!” They are very popular though in Japan even in their debut, so hopefully we be seeing as least Emmet again
@@The31st Yeah, It presents some weirdness in the timeline but time travel in general does that. If he did leave behind behind a family then that simply always happens when he's sent back in time or it's another timeline which we know in the pokemon universe exists. Ingo returning home to his brother is the best option but depends on any follow up it gets. Simply, We hope he gets back and if not then hope that he lived a happy life in the past.
@@mr.gameandtime8432 that's very true, with the big multiverse having an alternate timeline, even switching from a non mega to a mega one for example could easily explain him being stuck there and having a family. It'll be really interesting in a couple years when they do the gen 5 remakes to see which they have chosen or if they set it before his disappearance. Even if they did a straight remake like bdsp they could then add a post game where ingo disappears and you work with Emmet to find him and bring him home or something.
One thing they could have done is have Arceus at least have a cutscene showing him leaving through a rift going home and at least physically although not memory wise reverting to a younger look as he does so. Give the man a rest.

I can’t really explain but I think so. It just that both are psychic trainers. But bede is slightly weaker than Avery. Also I found a theory that says bede maybe was put in a orphanage cause he didn’t have enough psychic power like Avery did

The plant is pronounced "Ca-ME-LIA", not "Camilla", the name of Prince Charles current wife (I think, I don't keep track of the royals). I imagine that maybe he deliberately fell into the wormhole because his brother passed away and he wanted to forget.

From what I’ve read online, Ingo’s Japanese name is a pun on trains-but it’s also a pun for mountain climbing. Gamefreak saw they needed a warden to helped us climb, saw Ingo, and decided to cause *emotional damage* …for a PUN.

I’m surprised how popular the subway boss twins became after this game. I’ve seen stories of emmet going completely mental after loosing ingo it both sad and intriguing. I hope the two reunite because no closure would hurt. Both of them have definitely become some of my favorite unova characters.
Yeah it's pretty crazy. I think this game has definitely made them more popular but there was already a ton of fan art and love for them both in the community. I'm hoping that the unova remakes will help bring us closure

In the Japanese audience, the Submas have always been insanely popular. Due to the fact their personalities are a reference to Japanese working culture(always smile and be very polite while serving a customer), the Submas never had the attention intentionally as they had in Japan.

Yeah, and Pokemon Masters EX also made it clear that Emmet idolizes his big brother a lot. Since he's the younger "headstrong" twin while Ingo is more poised, I wouldn't be surprised if Emmet relied on Ingo for pretty much everything his entire life. So having this pillar suddenly disappear on him must have been extremely destabilizing. I really hope GF won't abandon these two's storyline.
It's ironic how the two Wardens of Coronet Highlands have Noble Pokemon that would match the other much better in sense of aesthetic (Lord Electrode with it's perpetual frown and smooth upper half of his globe, and Lady Sneasler with her fabulous looks and attitude (no other Noble laughs at you the way she does)) yet it still works very well the way they are now

Many of the wardens kinda wonder if the frenzies are something "Sinnoh" did and whether it's their place to stop them, but they all sort of let Team Galactic do whatever they want aside from Melli. So I do view his meanness under the lens of "There are invaders messing with his homeland and the religious figure he's tasked with tending to and he's kinda grumpy about it", especially with the context of Melli being previously quite shy and a bit of a doormat, I imagine Adaman going to discuss Lord Electrode with Galaxy team without Melli's consult probably stung a bit.
Honestly love his pettiness. I really missed mean characters in Pokemon. The last few rivals have been really nice, and Melli brings back that trash talk I've been missing from the game. And that voiceline about cresselia being a dumb croissant, and his little friendship/rivalry arc with Lian were both really fun.
Someone on twitter mentioned this but Ingo is missing both white parts of his og uniform and Emmet has the white uniform counterpart.
yeah I did actually see that the other day. It's a cool detail but I can also imagine after being in the Hisui region for several decades the white bits of clothing would be the first to break and he looks like he changed other parts too. That said it is very sad to think about.

At Least Anabel doesn't remember what she's lost, and we know nothing of her family, so we care less about her being displaced, as cruel as that sounds. Mohn, Lillie and Gladion's dad, may not remember his family at all, but they at least know where he is in the end and he's happy, living a fulfilling life. We know NOTHING about Looker before he landed in Mega timeline Hoenn if you take that as the start of his timeline. Ingo is stuck in the past with just enough memories to KNOW there are those precious to him that he left behind. He got the worst outcome, and as far as we know, no Faller besides Mohn has returned to their home. But I guess going off Monh, there IS hope.
Still, the Artbook said Ingo was gone for XX years. That could be anywhere from 2-99 years, though I doubt it's on the high end. They could have just put X years to make it less than 10, but no, they had to make 20 years or something a feasible option. He might never see his Bro again.DX

Gen 9 will hopefully have unova remakes which will be really interesting, obviously he's way older than he was in BW2 but we don't know when he fell. It could have been 10 years after BW2 or literally the day after but we know he's been in Hisui double digits. He easily could have been there 20 or 30 years. Someone said in the comments that his concept book page says he's in his 50s so that probably means he fell pretty soon after BW2, maybe we'll get too see a Unova after he's gone and find out how Emmet is doing.
Interesting analysis! There is one point you missed about Melli: He used to be very shy and withdrawn as a child (complete opposite of now). Mai also explains, that Melli changed his personality to help Adaman.
(So yes Melli might be very rude, but he cares a lot for the Diamond clan)

No I'm in a discord server with someone who does a lot of character deep dives and they mentioned something about his descriptor in the concept art book thing was more light hearted and I believe it bc his concept sheet really did give him some extra personality! It's mostly based on small tidbits and disclaimer obviously bc it's all fan made deep dive rambles based on the concept book and games it might not be 100% Canon

It had been so long since I played Black and White and I never did much with the subway challenge so when I saw Ingo I thought “he looks familiar” and he was so familiar I was struggling to think of why. When I decided to look him up and get some answers I immediately remembered when I saw him and Emmet together.

That's part of the reason why I think Emmet will be in SV and also it wouldn't be the first time a game has hinted towards a specific plotline in the next gen. Because looker in ORAS washes upon the battle resort area of hoenn, and at first that wouldn't mean much until you realise what his role was in sun and moon, where he investigates the ultra wormholes along with another person who had experienced a similar fate to oras looker, this person being Anabel. Anabel was a frontier brain from the battle frontier, now she works with looker, but guess where the hoenn battle frontier is located? In the battle resort Island, the same place you find looker in ORAS. Why looker and why that area in particular if they WERENT hinting towards anything? It could've been anyone else anyWHERE else. With sv's themes of past vs future coming off of legends arceus which takes place in the PAST but with your character (+Ingo) being from the FUTURE perhaps they are setting us up for something similar and there's no better associated character ingo could be hinting towards than Emmet, his twin brother and other half
In truth I always felt that maybe Ingo and Emmet originally were meant to be bigger players in the black and white and black 2/white 2. Maybe even be the main characters of the third game (yes there was supposed to be a third one a “gray” but it was canceled)
A lot of their design and names even hint that they are meant to be more. Example Yes their names in Japan have to do with trains…. But!!! Their choice on the English names is very surprising.
Emmet means truth…. While Ingo means void… that and their designs among others does hint some kind of connection between them and the unova princes.

After reading Bulbapedia page of him, I think he might be Jupiter's ancestor:
- Skutank as their main Pokemon,
- Purple hair (albeit different shade)
- Other major Team Galactic members have their Ancestors in Hisui already (Cyllene/Cyrus, Choy and Tao Hua/Charon, Arezu/Mars, Coin/Jupiter).
Ingo isn't even the first character in Pokémon who has travelled over time and space without having closure. Anabel, one of Hoenn's Frontier Brains travelled through an Ultra Wormhole in Pokémon Sun and Moon without any memories of who she was too, and it is theorised that Looker isn't originally from the 'present time' since he showed up on a beach without any memories as well, possibly because of an ultra wormhole as well. I think the reason people are much more clinging to Ingo is because the games give us lots more character detail, like him and Emmet being siblings, and Ingo himself going in-depth about some of his missing memories. He really deserves some closure.

By the way, I analysed Ingo's hairstyle a little, and I think that he has traditional Japanese hairstyle named "Chonmage", he even has a ponytail-ish collected hair, if you look at his LA model without the coat collar. While he may be naturally balding due to old age (art book somewhere stated that he is in his 50's), it may just be also a shaved hair style.

It really says something that this game has a guy who exiles you out of paranoia and a guy who flat out tries to murder you and Melli is more hated than either of them for being Just A Jerk.
Now, which would be the sadder scenario--Ingo never returning and Emmet slowly learning to accept this, Ingo coming back after a long period of time but eventually they're reunited, or Ingo being returned to the exact moment he left, only suddenly decades older, barely able to speak the language any more, and having experiences that Emmet can't relate to and never can, their bond irreversibly altered in what, to Emmet, is an instant?

It's good dude 😂 yeah the concept art doesn't say how many years he's been there but it says "xx years" so it's double figures for sure and given how old he looks it's probably multiple decades though we don't know how old he was when he arrived. He could have already been old? That said, he's been there long enough for everyone to accept him and for him to become a warden.

I like to think Emmet went home after the events of the game. After you’ve helped everyone, completed the Pokedex, saved the Multiverse and captured Dialga, Palkia and a Fragment of Arceus theirs absolutely no reason you can’t just go home whenever you want and I like to believe you take Ingo with you. If it isn’t back to around the time he first disappeared then at a point in time when he matches his brothers age.

I wonder if they intend on creating a remake of the BW games for the Switch. If they do, they either need to make a DLC for PLA which involves getting Ingo back to Unova or at least explaining how he got back in the possible remake. Can't have BW without Ingo and Emmet (unless they do a shoddy reskin like BDSP in which it's the same game, just a new look).
If they do a reskin like bdsp it would be easiest for them for then they wouldn't need to do anything but it would also be the worst thing they've ever done and I would never forgive them for leaving Ingo and Emmet's stories unresolved

I’ve seen some people theorize meli is related to Atticus due to both having skunktanks and specializing in poison types and both being “pretty boys”, along with him claiming he’s descended from ninjas, and Hisui being pretty clearly ancient Japan. Maybe in a few centires down the line Mellis descendants become ninjas and many more later they moved to Paldea.
Atticus’ Japanese name is also a flower reference, like Melli.

@@babann_57 Ah, so it's his vanity and refusals to listen to authority that upset everyone. I see. That makes sense, but it doesn't bother me because I can tell that he means well, in his own way. Him obstructing the path in wayward cave was a desperate move to stop the player because he truly believed the frenzy was good for Electrode and didn't want the player to take it away. But he couldn't usurp Kamado or Adaman's orders, so he tried to make it impossible for the player to even try. I think it was sweet that he tried so hard to protect Electrode from what he perceived to be a threat. Totally get why others would hate him for that though if they couldn't see it from his perspective.

I think i would've been on board with understanding him wanting to protect electrode if he focused more on "what if you hurt electrode by trying to stop his frenzy?" but from what I remember he was like "but him being frenzied makes him so strong!! strength is good!!!" and when Adaman even said electrode could be in pain Melli was like "but we can't be certain he is, I'd like to keep him powerful!".

I share the same opinions about Melli, but, first, he's Jupiter's Ancestor because the other two both use the Signature Pokémon of Mars and Saturn. Coin uses a singular Toxicroak, Saturn's Ace and Arezu uses Purugly, alongside a Bronzong and Lilligant on the Path of Tenacity, Mars' Ace happens to be Purugly and she, alongside Jupiter, uses a Bronzong. But, Melli is comparable to Redd White, a smiley, smarmy, stuck up, feminine lookin', STAIN who acts like he's Undyne! Yes, I did call Melli a girl, because his hair made me think he was one! If the player is a Noodly Galaxy Grunt, Melli is a Stick Figure! He WANTS Electrode to kill people! I wish Electrode retaliated because Melli was IGNORING ITS PAIN! Either after the boss fight when Gear Station's theme finished, during the main story's climax, after Cresselia is dealt with or in the Daybreak Update, seeing him get zapped would've felt cathartic to me. There has never been a more dislikeable character aside from Ghetsis for me. But, Melli really made me mad! Also, Team Skull in PMD Explorers had Skuntank and Zubat as prominent characters alongside a Koffing, but, Team Skull isn't really relevant, I thought I would bring up the Parallel to Team Skull. Honestly, I do not see Lucian, Avery or Clara (I saw a comment somewhere that suggested her too) ; my evidence again points to their teams:
Lucian and Avery are Psychic Trainers that do not use Drapion, Skuntank or Crobat. Clara has a Drapion, yes, but, that doesn't prove anything. They don't look related. But, what do I know? I am convinced Palina is related to Aqua Admin Shelley. Plus, Maxie's Ancestor..... worshipped Dialga..... hmmmm.... something isn't adding up here...

Sadly, I don’t think Ingo and Emmet’s storyline will have a complete happy ending, but I do think they will at least get closure(I also think Emmet would be more an anti hero than a villian but many think he would turn into. I also have a theory their past probably wasn’t the best but I could expand on that another time)
There’s also a legend(that was used in games like Crimson Butterfly) that twins are two halves of one soul, and when one dies their souls join together.
Something I really want though is either a fight between Ingo’s ghost(come on, you have a ghost every generation, cash in on it and make a depressing fight! Possibly him as the Warden and then a second fight after once he fully remembers and turns back into his Gen 5 design. Or maybe one final multi fight with his brother alongside him) or Emmet single battle since he always did double battles.
My tragic idea:a bittersweet ending. Have Emmet be on the hunt to find him and possibly dangerous outcomes only to find information about Ingo in Hisui records to at least let him know what happened and the life Ingo lived(Ingo was a respected warden and helped pioneer certain battling aspects it seems). Maybe even have Ingo appear as a ghost to give him a final goodbye. Like a certain rival in Gen 9, Emmet doesn’t get a full happy ending or even get to say all he wanted, but he gets closure knowing what happened to Ingo, that he was okay, and that he still loved him. Like the legend of the twins, they aren’t together physically anymore but they always are in spirit
Closure would definitely be nice. I hope they do follow the storyline up as it seems weird to drop some random, forgotten character from gen 5 who just so happens to be a twin into the past but I can also see them just never mentioning it again.

Sadly true to that second part but it does feel like they are going somewhere with the faller storyline since Looker and Anabel also fell, and it’s seems to get worse each time which closer connections broken and farther locations. The line from Scarlet of “It’s theoretically possible to travel to the past, however for a being such as a human, it will not be possible to return to the present” did not ease anyone stress over it. As if it was clarification “yeah, Ingo’s stuck, have fun Emmet!” They are very popular though in Japan even in their debut, so hopefully we be seeing as least Emmet again

My head-canon is Ingo has became a grandpa during his time in the past. Mostly because I get sad knowing he dies alone without any family.
It's definitely an option but it also presents some problems. Personally I hope that he goes back to the future to be with Emmet.
@@The31st Yeah, It presents some weirdness in the timeline but time travel in general does that. If he did leave behind behind a family then that simply always happens when he's sent back in time or it's another timeline which we know in the pokemon universe exists.
Ingo returning home to his brother is the best option but depends on any follow up it gets. Simply, We hope he gets back and if not then hope that he lived a happy life in the past.
@@mr.gameandtime8432 that's very true, with the big multiverse having an alternate timeline, even switching from a non mega to a mega one for example could easily explain him being stuck there and having a family.
It'll be really interesting in a couple years when they do the gen 5 remakes to see which they have chosen or if they set it before his disappearance. Even if they did a straight remake like bdsp they could then add a post game where ingo disappears and you work with Emmet to find him and bring him home or something.
One thing they could have done is have Arceus at least have a cutscene showing him leaving through a rift going home and at least physically although not memory wise reverting to a younger look as he does so. Give the man a rest.
